Bass head actually has TOO many features and some of the controls are a bit confusing. Best part is a graphic equalizer which allows you to make a perfect scoop! Allows you to get an (egads!) SVT sound. Dialing in a sound is a pretty lengthy project, but boy, is it worth it! I don't know how old this model is, but it was made in England.

I just can't believe you don't hear more about this amp. I play pick style and fingerstyle. Mostly pick style for punk/grunge/indie. I can get that punchy power bottom end that is heaven. I have/had Carvins (excellent), ampegs (one trick pony, but what a trick), vintage GK 800rb's (very cool), rolands (great bottom), and I must say that this amp's sound is fantastic. It does get close to my vintage, blueface, all tube SVT's scooped sound, yes it does, at 1/4 the weight. It is presently matched to a Hartke pro212 cab. Most of my basses are Fender Jazz, with a sprinking of Stingrays

so far so good

using for a 4 string bass setup, through a custom 12" quad box.

only 1 channel but with foot-switch can switch in and out the equaliser and a pre-shape, it is possible to have some small amount of variety.

pre-shape is great for slap sounds.

able to adjust the amount of eq is mixed with the clean sound (is a tad noisy with the eq on full- fine about 3/4 of the way up)

i was easily able to make up a foot-switch that switched these 2 effects in and out very easily. (try plugging a stereo lead into the 'remote' plug and short out between the sections of the pin at the other end to figure out how to wire it up. )

has an fx loop situated after the eq which is good, would be better if it was bypass switchable but this is easily fixed with a noise reduction pedal.

includes a noisegate which cleans up whatever background noise is left when you are not playing (not adjustable unfortunately, however adjusted just right for me ablout 90% of the time- depends which other pedals i am running.)

love the sound.
previous owner got rid of it because he didn't like the sound, when i rocked up to buy it it was obvious why- the whole eq was being boosted on every freq...which was a great way to get distortion , but sounds like rubbish to me. being a whole lot more conservative with the eq worked a treat.

great tone, good sounds to be found on this amp.

some background noise evident when turned up, can be gotten rid of using the EQ by turning down the frequencies at the higher end of the sectrum- 2k6hz - 15 khz.

able to adjust the amount of eq is mixed with the clean sound (is a tad noisy with the eq on full- fine about 3/4 of the way up).

also need to find the sweet spot on the pre-amp...for me at around 7 keeps the signal sounding sweet when cranked up.

havent had it long enough to comment.

so far: not a problem at all.

havent dealt with them.

laney have the manual up for download at their site which is good to find for a 20 years out of production item.

http://www.laney.co.uk/manuals/DP100-150-300%20Manual%20-%201988%20-%20Issue%201.pdf

i guess that the warranty would have run out by now.

great sounding amp.
200w into 8ohms 300 into 4...plenty loud enough for jamming, small to medium gigs, and annoying the hell out of neighbors.

Great amp for all funky styles. Low-med sound with lots of dynamic. 4 X 12'' loudspeakers. One channel. Pre-shape button which reduces mid-range frequencies : cool for slap. 11 band (40/80/120/160/350/700/1k/2k6/5k/10k/15k) eq switchable. noisegate on/off. Limiter on/off. A very usefull balance pot. to adjust sound between direct and with graphic eq on. A DPC attack pot to bring more high frequencies with the attack (slap), linked to a 'deep-bass' switch for the same effect, but in the low frequencies.Effects loop jacks front and rear (line level). Balanced output on XLR. Optional footswitch. Headphones jack. Second speakers jack. Enough power to play in small clubs or rehearsals with noisy drumers

Sound Quality : 9
The amp has the same features as the DP150 but can pull 200W out of 4 ohms and 300 out of 8ohms. I have a fender precision fretless and a G&L L2000. The G&L can get just about any sound I need but then a G&L has about a thousand settings.. The fender sounds clean and beautifull its not easy to get a growl going but with all the features of the bass amp off I can get it to sound like a wolf.

Reliability : 8
Never had it quit on me while playing (except when I push it so hard the safty kicks in). My G&L blew up one of the 10" speakers but this was my own fault. I have had it 9 years and needed to get some of the switches replaced but this was because it was damaged during shipping one time but the repair cost me only $25 and one day so no big deal.

Good site, nice people.

I am happy that I bought it. Its been 11years and I have never needed any other amp since. But if I had the money I'd get a Glockenklang
