I don't know when this amp was made but it was in the last 3 years i think. The amp has a clear sound and i'm yet to come across a style that didn't sound good. The sound compares to hartke and marshel. I play a dean edge 1 passive pickup bass in a little school rock band and i played a few small gigs through it and i was told that it was clear even above my 2 guitarists, drummer, singer and pianist. It has 1 channel,a gain compresser, gain and volume controls, a bass, mid and treble eq, a cd line in (the cd's sound great with my amp, and loud!)It has a speaker line out active and passive inputs a head phone jack and but it is a bit lacking in power. don't get me wrong its loud but it sounds more like a 50 watter. this amp is best used in a room with good acustics or else it goes a little wonkey and echoes. This amp though serves my purposes well.

No distortion. i forgot to mention that above. I don't mind because I play classic rock. It sounds good with music like ac/dc,van halen but it has a hard sound so there might be a better choice for like pop and blues music. this amp can make any sound that the bass can naturally make but few special effects. The sound quality stayes suprisingly clean at high levels unlike a hartke amp that I tried out.The eq's don't get used much i find i sound best with the eq's at 12 o clock but sometimes i fiddle with it. overall decent sound amp.

It seems pretty solid. the screen over the speaker is a little flimsy and the corner guards and inputs are plastic not meatal. I wouldn't play a big concert but i've played several restrants with it and its sufficent. I havn't had any complaits with its but i've only had it for 3 months.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The instructions are very sparse. But its an amp who needs instructions... as for the costamer support i havn't had to deal with them yet.

I'm happy with it. I've been playing bass for 3 years now and this is amoung the best sounding amp i played including a hartke, ampeg, crate and a vintage ?johnson? amp.
Don't think its a bad amp from the ratings i gave im just very criticle.

This is a 12" 60 Whatts solid state bass combo amp. Made in Great Britain. It has 2 inputs (active & passive), gain, switchable compressor with an active LED indicator, 3-band active rotary EQ with semi-parametric mids (bass, mid freq, mid gain, high), master volume, CD/Line input, direct out, headphones out and an effects loop (send & return). The separate power cord is a great plus.
I wish it had metal not plastic in/out 1/4" jacks. Also the direct out, as it is called, is in fact a ballanced 1/4" out, that is controlled by a gain level, compressor & EQ. It isn't controlled by the volume knob. So, in fact, it is a typical line out. I wish the amp had a real DI out (ballanced XLR), which is not controlled by any of the knobs & produces the original sound of the bass. This combo is for home practice, rehearsals & small gigs. I like the CD/Line input - I run my Alesis SR-16 drum machine through it when practice.

I use a '75 reissue Fender Japanese Jazz Bass with with all-maple neck. I play mostly jazz music and some fusion. I like the amp, 'cause it gives me the warm bottom of the Jazz Bass and crystal-clear highs - you can hear all the nuances of your playing (even without a tweeter). The attack is brilliant. The combo can produce a wide spectrum of sounds: from 'vintage' to modern. I don't care for distorted bass sound, but if you overdrive the amp (gain at high settings), you'll get a smooth sound. I even don't use EQ very much. In general, the sound is close to SWR, GK and Trace Elliot, not to Ampeg, Crate, Fender and some others.

I played at several gigs through it. And my friends noticed, that the bass sound was pretty cool (even in loud pieces), it cut through the wall of the quintet I played in. A very definite sound.

I've been using it for a year already, and it works.

In fact, when I was going to buy a combo, I didn't even think of Laney. I wanted to buy a Trace Elliot Boxer 65 or something like this. Before I bought this this one I played through Ampeg amps - I'm not a fan of the Ampeg sound, Gallien Krueger, Fender, Trace Elliot, Crate, Marshall. I like the sound of some of these brands only after a 5 minute tuning. But, as for the Laney, I liked its sound without any equalization - just plugged in, set the EQ flat and started playing. And it gave me the sound I was looking for. So I decided to buy it.
But... not the every bass I plugged in it sounded wonderful: from the five basses I tried with this amp there was one, which sounded mediocre (it sounds pretty nice with Fender BXR, for example).
So, I'm very satisfied with the amp. Of course, GK MB150 or Trace Elliot 130 Whatts combo or $1000 stack are better, but this one suits my sound as a 12" 60 Whatts combo ($350-400) can do.
