Its a nice amp straight off.
300w (with 8ohm cab)
165w as a stand alone unit
fx loop
line out
pre eq xlr
7 band eq
switchable limiter and compressor
tuner out (pre eq)
hi/ norm channels
no cd in (could have done with one)
no headphone jack
I use it mainly for small gigs and general rehersal
it's powerfull enough as a stand alone combo for my needs and if needed can be boosted so should last me a good few years as my main giging amp. could have done with a foot switch for the compressor
it plays well as a rock/ metal cab as i use an fx pedal for distortion

im using a tanglewood rebel 4000 bass at the moment and its seems easy enough so manipulate the tone, esecialy with the eq. nice clean sound due to the compressor and limiter. the gain doesnt do too muchaat low levels altough it could be better this amp sounds nice

i would need to use it for a few more years before deciding on that one but seems reasonably stury.

ive been playing for 7 years but only started bass around 4 years ago. I own my rebel4k, a premier drumkit, a hiwatt maxwatt huricane, westfeild guitar and meridian 20w guitar amp.
only downside is the lack of cd input.
this is my first large combo so i dont have that much experience in other bass combos but i can say it sounds better than other combos (the pa in one unit type things) and some pa systems.
good value for money.

I got this amp for gigging, into its built-in speaker I'd guess its 180-220 watts, add another 8 ohm cab to get 300W. I plaY IN a sixties covers band. Guitarist has a 100W Vox amp and drummer beats teh skins quite hard.
Has a enough features to shape its sound quite easily, but it's all straightforward, no effects etc.

I play a 2005 Fender P bass and it sounds great. With the EQ flat I just love the tone. Sounds like a bass, feels like a bass. But it can be shaped to make the sound brighter by boosting the mids, and can distort the sound sligtly by pushing the gain.
Suits my sound completly. I don't slap, just fingerstyle and some pick. Flat works for me alone: with the band, I just boost the mids to cut through.
Can hear fan while playing low, but don't hear it when giging with band. No buzzes or rattles.
This is perfect for me and for that traditional sounding bass tone.

I feel like I can depend on it and I will. Will be using it without a backup.
Really solid
Things will scuff and the vinyl will tear, but its a gigging amp, not a original Picasso canvas!

Not dealt with Laney yet, but imuso.co.uk, where I bought it are brilliant!

I've been playing for 18 months, I own a Fender P, this amp and a Hartke A35 practice amp. I plug in and play, that's what it is about for me.
If it were lost or stolen I would buy this again. At this price it's the best.
I love the sound straight off, but like the fact it can be tweaked to brighten it and change the sound completely.
I compared it to a Roland, and a Carvin. The Roland was horrible, and too complicated. The Carvin was better but too hi-fi for my tastes.
The Laney was just right from the off.
I don't think it lacks anything, apart from a CD imput, but as I got it for gigging and not practising that's not such a great loss. A Carpet covering might have been more hard-wearing, but the vinyl looks cool and classic.
Regardless of whether you are on a budget or not, its worth checking out.
