Well this baby has all the goods: Active/Passive inputs, Limiter, Compressor, Switchable high end horn, Para-Mid settings, Effects Loop, D.I. XLR output, a tuner output and a headphone socket. The driver is only 12 inches, but suits me well because i like a nice clear tone. The driver is made by HH as all Laney drivers. 65 watts means that this thing can't be played with a loud group, unless you're using a PA system, and even then you might wanna use the gig place's monitors for your monitor. But mine has been used by harcore and punk bassists from Brazil to Japan on our gigs, and there has never been a complaint. When I play with other groups(Jazz, Rock etc.) there is no problem with the sound levels. I also love the fact you can keep the amp normally up, or kick it back so that it works as a kickback kinda monitor.

I play mainly with a 1981 Ibanez Musician with active pickups(check this bass out if you ever come by one, everyone from Sting to Adam Clayton to Etnwhistle has used one of these) and I just love the sounds. I play all kinds of music, but I would say that this amp is at it's best at little harder styles of music. It as an incredibly clear tones, but it lacks a bit of low end boost. So I probably would use it for music that requires fat low end. The para-mid equalisation works well and the versatile sounds of the Ibanez make this baby sing in hundred different tones. The amp is incredibly hiss-free. It doesn't make any extra sound at most volumes. I also really like the bit distorted sounds you get when you turn the preamp gain up, or plug your active bass into the passive input. I haven't had the Laney in studio yet, because I've only had it for about a month, but I'm really looking foward to do so.

Reliability : No Opinion
I can't really say much about the reliability

Customer Support : No Opinion
This is where Laney really pisses me off. If you check out their website you'll notice that there are no contact information about the company(or at least I haven't found it), and so for any problems you have to contact retailers

Overall Rating : 9
I would recommend this amp to everyone who needs a good value for his money, and also enjoys good clear tones from his amp. I had mine for really cheap in totally mint condition. You should also check out other Laney amps, they really are quite unique in their price range.FORGET THE FUCKING PEAVEY'S, this amp is much better!

It has all the basic stuff I need. Solid state, 1 channel, Gain, 3 band eq. with semi-parametric mid. A build in limiter, although according to the manual this should be a compressor. I'm confused about that one, but it has an effect loop so i can use an external compressor or whatever. I also features a headphone jack and a build in DI with comes very handy since it has 65 watts which make it suitable for practicing and monitor on stage. It has an adapted housing design which makes it possible to place in a 45 degree angle. It also has a switchable horn for extra high.

Sound Quality : 8
I use it with a Ibanez TR-70 bass. I can crank this baby up and it doesn't leave me. Althought it has only 65 watt it is pretty loud. I haven't really noticed the difference between the horn switch on or off, but this is probably due to the string I use at the moment. I play mostly rock, blues and folk music and i suites me fine. But i doesn't go to the deep levels. It's punchy, but make my pants move, but i don't think you can expect that from a 12" driver.

Reliability : 9
Didn't gig alot with it and haven't had it that long. But it looks reliable to me. Never broken down on me and i would use in without backup.

I have't used them yet, but from what i heard it should be ok. I think is has a year warranty wich is standard.

Overall Rating : 9
I have it for almost a year now. I don't now if I would replace it if it where stolen I would probably buy an amp with more power (Hartke 3500). I really like the 45 degree angle on the housing. If it's really adding something i don't know i just like it ;-)
Another feature a like is the build in DI.
I compared it to some peavy amps en some others. I choose this one because of the price/feature/performance ratio.
