Features : 7
Built : 2001 ( quality control date 1087 )
1 channel , compresser/limiter , bass , parametric mid freq and gain control , treble , prescence , mastervolume , di output , ext cab jack , fx loop no headphone jack
I'm playing bluesrock and i like the sound this baby produces.
the only thing i would like is more power , but I built an extension cab so now it should give me 200W at 4Ohm . We'll see next rehearsal.

Sound Quality : 8
I use a Peavey Dyna-bass (4 string) with active eq, ( more than 10 years old) which has a specific sound that i haven't heard in all the years i have been playing , I also own a 1979 Ibanez Roadster (4 string )but i don't use that a lot because it a real heavey guitar .
When you turn up the treble control you get a it noise but it's not really disturbing . I don't use the horn .
Without the extension cab it doesn't cut it with a drummer and 2 guitars but i hope that that problem is solved now i have the ext cab. The amp has a sound that i like , personal taste .

Reliability : No Opinion
No problems yet . I bought it second hand about seven months ago .

Customer Support : No Opinion
No probs yet , so i didn't have to contact Laney

Overall Rating : 8
Years ago i had a Crate BX160 combo(1x15") and a Peavey TNT115 combo but they didn't have the sound i was looking for , i bought the Laney to have a bassamp to start again , and i hoped it was powerfull enough to play with a band but it isn't that loud as i hoped , anyway i'm not complaining : i bought it used and payed 190??? (about 210 us$ ) so for the price of a small practice amp i had this one , i like the sound and with the 1x12" ext cab i built it should be loud enough since it should produce about 200w now .

Probably '99 made, it's a versatile amp, you can get any sound you want. I play metal in my band, but I did some sessions in hard rock band and a pop band also (all for money!!).

Passive, passive/active channels, no switching, no headphone jack.
I'm using this amp three months ago, just for rearsals (my main amp is a Ampeg B3 H with a Laney R 4x10 cabinet), and always it works fine. Probably, no sufficient power for a big gig, but excellent for practice and rearsals.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using a Peavey Milestone IV JJ and a luthier handmade Ibanez BTB imitation with EMG Hz. This Laney is great for versatility. Laney RBW 200 sounds like an SWR for more less money.

The only complaint is when you turn up the treble knob, it's noisy. I should go to tech store.

Clean and definiteed sound, good mids & treble, but not enough low end. The reason of this, maybe is these '12 woofer, it's a little limitation. Remember, we're talking about a 200$ combo!!

Reliability : 9
I think Laney's engineers made a great work. "Kickback disegn" is nice, and very easy to carry on. I never used this amp on a gig, but I guess it should work great.

When I used it, never I had dessapointments.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I never have complaints with Laney. U.K made, anything more to say?

Overall Rating : 10
I play almost six ago. I use a Boss LM-2B and Ibanez BE10 EQ. If I lose this lovely amp, I get another one quickly. I love my RBW 200 because is light, little, versatile, nice design and great sound for price and size.

The only thing I doesn't likethis huge BTZZZZZZZZZZZZZ when I want more treble (I know, I have to go to technician...).

I used a lot fo amps, Trace Elliot, Ampeg, Fender, Peavey, SWR and I can tell you, YOU NEVER CAN GET BETTER SOUND FOR THIS PRICE. SWR's Basic Black sounds better, maybe Ampeg's Rocket Bass sounds better too, but paying such a lot of money than a Laney.

It's a little unpowered for medium gigs, but excellent for little places, practice and rearsals.

Get your RBW 200 now! I'm totally sure what I'm talking about.

Amp is pretty good for features. Can get a good range of tones though has less control over mids than I would like. Previously used a Fender BXR100 which has a 7band EQ which I miss. My bass has a 3 band EQ on it though so I can push the mids there and its not so bad. The 45degree lean is real nice.

Sound Quality : 9
I bought this amp because I bought a new car and my old amp didnt fit. Its really loud for its size - none of the other amps with 12" speakers even came close in power. I play an ibanez sr400 with active pickups and it sounds really punchy and solid playing on all strings, don't like the horn but you can turn that off so np there.

Reliability : 10
no problems yet, but havent had it long. Have a laney HCM guitar amp aswell though which hasnt had any problems after 4years.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Hasn't been an issue yet. Got a 1 year warranty.

Overall Rating : 8
great sound for its size, probably too small for some bigger gigs but Im happy with it for now. Definitely the best amp I could get that fit in my car.

For what it is and the price it's a pretty good amp. Standard features look below for specifics! The compresoor is pretty useless, leave that turned off, i'm not a big tweeter fan and i'm glad it had a switch for that! My main problem is the power i play with a pretty loud 4 piece punk rock band and i have to really push it just for practice! It start to distort pretty early on which is a shame cos' it sounds great as a comfortable level! shame really i'm curently upgrading power to a new stack! i'd recommend getting an extension cab especially for gigs! a 1 * 15 goes great!

Sound Quality : 6
pretty much coverd this above... i play punk rock i don't need the cleanest noise but this distorts too easily! it has a nice general sound at healthy levels!

Reliability : 5
This is kinda a shame... cos it spoiled my veiw of it a bit. before this it did what it was surpossed to do (just a bit underpowred for me) Firts of all i was at home practicing and I got a huge BZZZZZZT noise wouldn't stop and no guitar signal... JUST after 1 year warranty so neways took it to a repair shop cost #30 dodgy soldering.
something similar happened again, blown power transistor or summat along those lines. And then recently when i was recording i had just sound check it and then a loss of volume i'd say about 75% loss in volume... after 30 mins of head scratching it started working again! i don't trust this amp nemore... shame really! It's had is use and it was a fairly good price but I wouldn't count on it!

Customer Support : 8
my first problem came after waaranty... the shop i bought it from siply recomended a repair shop. I did email Laney and they did email me back offering to repair it if i payed postage, labour and parts. It's a fair way to post a heavy amp and it was gonna cost more than the repair man thought it would be! So they are willing to help.

Overall Rating : 6
I wouldn't buy it again! I think there are better combos that are more reliable and have better sound! don't expect this amp to loud... it does sound good but it won't get much louder than outta the shop! I understand now what i need to do to get bass to sound loud! Also the kickback idea is nice but it adds lots of waight and it's harder to transport, it is useful for use as a monitor tho! I would say this amp is great for people semi pros who play quiet, but i don't think it sounds that great! It has suved it purpose for me... it's helped me progress! and i guess for the amount i've put it through lots of products would have suffered alot more!

This beautiful piece of machinery was made some time around 2002/2003. ITs got a parametric eq which lets you have any tone you want, enhance, presence, bass treble gain volume, fx loop, DI out, extension cab out, tuner out, horn, compressor, limiter; everything I need. At gigs I usually tip it back and use it as a monitor going thoruhg the PA for what the audience hears. It has such a beautiful flat tone I don't mind that the DI isn't affected by the EQ or volume. I found its always loud enough, but plan on buying an extension cab eventually

Sound Quality : 9
I use this amp with a Dean Edge Q4. It has two EMG-HZ's. I can get ANY sound on this amp, but usually go from Jaco tone for jazz and a fat bottom low down funky sound for anything else. Its responsive to any dynamics i play with and sounds great for slap. Its a bit noisy but noise doesn't really bother me. It gets some icky distortion once you start pushing it too hard but i never need to so heyho!

Reliability : 10
I've never had this amp break in two years and I use it for absolutely everything. THe speaker takes a beating and carries on proud.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never tried to contact Laney

Overall Rating : 10
A superb amp for hip hop funk rock jazz and reggae, slightly underpowered. Go try one for yourself!

I found the amp a little underpowered as it is (fine for rehearsals and small gigs, doesn't cut it in venues of 100 people or so) I had an extension cab made to match, basically the same as the amp, but without the 'amp' part, and find that it's plenty loud enough.

Sound Quality : 9
Handles most sounds i throw at it (I use 2 5-strings, one B tuned, the other tuned to high C) through a Korg AX300B processor, which has some fairly wild sounds on it. I don't need to do much with the eq, as the korg has eq on it. I tend to switch the comp/limiter off, as it always kicks in just when you don't need it - in my opinion compressors should be used early in the signal chain where they're less obvious. Other than that, it can do everything i've asked of it.
I've tried other makes (ranging from Carlsbro to Trace Eliot), and I always come back to Laney stuff - it's just got my sound.

Reliability : 10
This is my only amp for the last 2 years. It's great for practice or gigs, and it's never even thought about letting me down (and believe me I don't give it an easy life)

Customer Support : No Opinion

the amp is a 99 model
it is very versitile sounds great for rock, punk, jazz has a very digital sound much like a good rack system it 1 cannel with built in compression and limit defeat a 12in driver the main problem I have found is the speaker can not handle the full power of the amp very well so in all it is a great combo

Sound Quality : 10
I use a jazz bass and p-bass with it I play punk mostly and it sounds awsome have not had any noise problems yet the amp is very good for tight punchy tone and slaping n poping it does ditort at high volunes on the clean setting but not bad and its only at 3 quarters it also has a good drive but not to much its perfect so u dont have to sound like a guitar player

Reliability : 10
so far it has been quit reliable

Customer Support : 8
there are authorized dealers all over the place but so far I have not had to seeany yet

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for about 3 years now and I have had a crate bx50 that is also a good amp but does not compare to my lany the onlything that comes close is swr
