I am currently using an Ibanez Sr405 thru the Boss Me-50B multi effects pedal and the sound you can get out of it is really good, nice deep sound an handles distortion/Over Drive with ease. I mainly play metal/rock but do like to play bluesy/jazzy stuff and it does both, just play with the EQ to get the sound you like. I have gigged with this but I had PA support, I will be getting a cab to go under it pushing its output to 300watts.

ive been playing bass for 4 years and this was my 1st proper amp. im very happy with it, i prolly would go for a bigger amp if this amp wasnt stolen. but thats mainly due to being in a band and this amp just not being loud enough with out PA support.

I agree with the review below this one. If yopu have a decent bass this amp sounds pretty good. If you want a practice amp then its perfect. Can be a little quiet with a full band though. But what do you expect with 165 watts?

I have been playing bass for about 8 years. I play basically alt rock, with a fender P Bass. This amp is great for practicing with bands - not sure about gigs, but great for band practice. If it were stolen I would look around to see what else is avaulable, but for the price there isnt too much else around that gives a better sound. Ok its not going to shake the house down, but it does a pretty damn good job as a 165 watt amp. I am happy with it.

i could tell you but you would already know by other rateings.. i like it but theres a slight lack of bass frequency control. but hey, get a better bass than some thing that only has one tone control that makes it sound either cheesy with some bass of even cheesyer with lots of 70's slapping trebble noises.

i use a yamaha rbx370A as my main bass. i'm not gonna tell you my other bass cos it sucks and i feel disgusted by thinking of it. i've tried a yam rbx774 on it and for both basses (not the other bass that shall remain nameless... put it this way it was a fender). this amp is realy cool and i dont know why some people dont like it in comparison to a crappy marshall combo which realy are just... disapointing. theres something about this amp that lets you acheive a deep resonateing powerful tone. i think you simply just have to have the right bass for it i guess. my friend dave has been on it with his bass and he doesnt like how his bass sounds on it. basicly that means you have to have some bass thats a little less standard or jazzy if you know what i mean. its a amp that needs a little imagination. oh yeah and for the odd few who are like me and like a dose of distortion every now and then. i tried it with a boss (something) and it left me quivvering!.

when i was at college we had one of these and a few others such as a marshall, peavey, and 2 carlsbro. i allways used this one because of all the amps this one seems to survive nearly everything!. but she might want tightening up after a while.

i love this amp like i love my bass. its practicly my way of life and sound. to be honest if it was stolen i wouldnt buy it again . i'd just claim off the insurance, put towards and get a laney stack. dont be a sheep. this amp is very very much like a unknown amazing band. most people think its a brand that means cheap and nasty. its not!. its a friggin amp and a half!

I use Yamaha BBN5II (five-string), but I also used a Fender Mex P-Bass with this amp. It sounds equally bad with both. It's got really clean, powerful high end, but it's a bass amp, so low end would be better, wouldn't it. Low end is "hollow", not really bassy, and no knob-twisting can help it. Both guitars plugged in sounded like played in a wet basement, or a well.
The power level is also unsatisfactory - the amp is rather a quiet one. Forget it, if you play with a loud drummer - in such case you can as well turn it off and go home and nobody would notice. The speaker rattles at high volumes, unless you cut all low end. Also, it's rather noisy.

I don't trust this bastard no more. It went down after a year of gentle home usage, not even having been carried outdoors (actually the longest way it went was from my bedroom down to the basement and back up). I had it fixed, but now I'm just waiting for it to fail every time I play.

I play bass for six years now and this is my basic gear (I don't gig very often), although I'm right in the middle of upgrade-ing. If anybody stole my Laney, I would make fun of the guy for at least week to come. Well, BASS amp has to be bassy, and low end is essential. This amp hadn't even ever heard of good, bassy low end. I bought it as my first amp - I was really gear-stupid back then. Now I'm stuck with it.
