Made in Italy, this amp reaks with quality. I play mostly rock and some Jazz with my Double bass.
I wish there was a post tuner-out mute switch.
On it's own there is plenty of power and I don't feel afraid of turning up all the way. The built in limiters work smootly but you can definitly tell when they kick in. Adding a second 4x10 cab makes this thing roar!

Sound Quality : 8
I'm not into "Thumping" or "Slapping" but I do use my fingers or a heavy non-breackable pick. I have active electronics in my 5 string. the low notes don't seem to suffer when going beyone the 40Hz low end spec. limit.
The amp is dead quiet even when turned all the way up. It does pick up some buzz from a powered monitor that sits next to the amp in rehearsal.
I typically add a little low bass and high end and then use the VPF to shape my sound.

I was in a posistion to move from an old V4B (c1974!). I needed an amp with solid power but light weight. I tested this and a G&K at the local music store and went for the 151P. I like simplicity. 1 bass, one cable, one amp. I can carry everything ( if need be) in one trip.
This is possibly the best Amp I've looked at or tried out. Pound for pound you can't get a better deal.

2008 Markbass CMD-151P Jeff Berlin 1X15 Combo

This amp is a punchfest-supreme. Very versatile, I have ran active and passive basses through it and utilized finger and picking technique and it handles both very well indeed.

1 Channel solid state with effects send and return in the rear of the amp. It also has a tuner out/direct balanced line out AND extension cab out. How's that for versatility? I plan on trying an 8 ohm Avatar 2X10 ext on this amp, should be a sweet combo.

I use the amp at home for recording, it could easily be used for small club or church settings. This amp has plenty of punch for what it is designed for.

Sound Quality : 10
I have a collection of basses, Rob Allen MB-2, Italia Maranello-Z, Warmoth active fretless, passives include Rickenbacker 4003, Epiphone Jack Cassidy, DiPinto, Steinberger Spirit XP-2. Every one of these basses sound excellent through this amp.

I like what I have heard out of this amp be it fingerstyle or pick, it seems to excell with fingerstyle though. I continually go back to playing that way with this amp.

No noise whatsoever with this box.

There are a couple of contreols labeled VLE and VPF limiter and filter respectively. These controls allow a wide variety of tone shaping and manipulation.

I have noticed no distortion from this amp, I don't play at that sound level to begin with but I'm sure you can throw an effect into the chain to get what you want.

Reliability : 9
This amp won't be used for gigging, it could be though. I wouldn't hesitate to take it to small to medium venues. It has the direct out for the house if you need the additional boost. I would also use the house P.A. as back up if need be.

I haven't had the amp long enough to determine reliability but so far so good, from what I've read they have a good reputation so far for being reliable.

Never dealt with them, they are in Italy, from what I understand they back their stuff up and good stuff is what it appears to be.

I have been playing for 20+ years. See above for basses used. I also have a Basson 4X10 with a BBE Bmax preamp/Crown xti 1000. I also use an Acoustic B200 1X15 combo.

This amp is NOT cheap. Replacing it would be difficult due to it's price but I would certainly try.

I love pretty much everything about this amp. Markbass has a winner here in a really punchy and loud combo with lot's of versatility. The orange coated speaker is pretty unique too.

There's nothing to dislike about it but the price for what you get though it's easy to justify.

I really can't think of anything out there to compare it to. I mentioned having the Acoustic B200 amp, which is 1/3 the price of this one but there is really no comparison in the quality department. You can see, feel and hear the difference right away.

This amp is musical and inspiring, you can get a good sound immediately.

My favorite bass with this amp is my Steinberger Spirit XP-2 with tapewound strings. It's a perfect match. You just don't want to stop with this thing once you start and that's exactly what I look for in an amp.

Got to give this amp a 10 for combining 4 features that knock the opposition dead.
1) Weight
2) Size
3) Tone
4) Power
Cast chassis B&C Driver, switched mode power supply ( no transformer )
simple effective tone controls.....everything a 'normal' bass player needs.

Sound Quality : 10
Fabulous tone and power, very very musical, not a bad sound in the amp.
Very little if any adjustment from 'flat' is necessary with my Jazz bass to get a full round quality tone.
Handles the highs and lows perfectly.
Probably the best bass amp I ever bought and I've had a few over the
years.

Reliability : 10
Fairly new manufacturer but opinions seem to be in agreement that this is one of the very best products built to a top quality standard.
I haven't had and don't expect any trouble.

Customer Support : 10
I sent Markbass a couple of emails before I made this purchase and both were replied to quickly and politely. Seems to be a good company who are focused on their products and customers first.

Overall Rating : 10
Played for 51 years, had most gear in that time, this amp is a revelation just for the weight alone. If you like combining gigs with a workout then carry on with the heavyweights but if you want an amp that is a joy to carry and one that sounds as good as well then you must at least give Markbass a try. I was sceptical and needed to be convinced and I was converted instantly.....a remarkable product.
TOP MARKS, MARK !!!!
