Brand new Cabinet from markbass Released At the end of 2008! I bought this in January 2009 for ??460 plus p&p from BEM music UK. Its a 1x 12??? plus tweeter compact speaker cabinet. 400w RMS power handling. Extremely light! 29lb!! Has a large carry handle on the top and features 2 speakon / jack combination connectors on the back. Has a volume control on the side for the horn tweeter.
Rear Bass port, about the same size as the one on the mini CMD 121P.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
If you have a CMD121P combo then you will love this!! I remember when I first tired out the combo in Music Ground Manchester and just couldn???t believe the level and quality of sound from this diminutive combo!! I was looking for a small combo to use at home, rehearsals, open mike nights and small gigs. The NY121 is the same with a little extra low end, probably because there isn???t an amp taking up space. I do like the volume control on the side of the cabinet! Nice idea!
I play mainly rock but also play many other styles with other bands I play with. I use a Jazz bass I built with MEC pickups a Seymour Duncan 3 band eq and a Status MM style neck. For the rock stuff I play a Precision Deluxe 5 string. Both bases sound great with plenty of punch!! I also have some vintage bases witch sound great to. I have a 66 Jazz that sounds lovely and a 74 p-bass that just sings through it!!
I got the NY121 two weeks ago and I have used it at large pub, club gigs with my CMD121p. I have had a few compliments from other bass players complimenting the sound from the mini stack! One person was convinced I had a hidden 15??? sub somewhere!
When I first took it the a band practice with a rock covers band I play with they were shocked at the volume with the NY121 & 121P, I was playing against 2 Marshall 4x12???s with TSL lead heads all the way up!! I tried it with my EBS HD350 and it sounded just as good as the CMD121P combo, but with more sparkle on the top, that???s probably down to the EBS! Nice rounded sound with plenty of bottom end at a good volume. I have a very nice Trace Elliot V6 and will try it with that when I have a chance!!

Reliability : 10
I havn't had the cab long but suspect it will be just a reliable as my combo. I would take it to a gig without a backup no problem!! I have had that for over a year and it gets used alot!!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with Markbass, but a friend informs me they are very helpfull!!

Overall Rating : 10
I???m not sure how many years I have been playing but think its around 13 years? In this time I have used many bass amps, trace, acoustic, fender, ashdown, SWR, Laney, line 6 the list goes on???. Only when I herd my EBS system did I stop buying, selling amp???s because the EBS is so good at everything sound wise. I am a bit of a gear head! But I do know how I want my bass to sound!! Been a Full time sound engineer helps too I guess. At the moment I own a EBS HD350 head a Proline 2x10 and a 1x15. I use this for bigger gigs, and a Trace Elliot V6 all tube head. I use a EBS Multicomp pedal and a Boss Overdrive to. The Multicomp with the markbass rig is nice!!
What I love about my NY121 cab is its size! And how much volume it produces while been able to keep the quality there too! I bought it because I wanted a portable bass rig I could carry in 2 hands and because I loved the tone of my CMD121P combo. If it was stolen I would defiantly replace it!!
Get one you won???t be disappointed!!
