I am using this amp with a fender Mark Hoppus signature bass.
This bass has basslines pick ups and only a volume knob, no tone.
But this amp got lots of features to make a weith range of sound.
The amp is very clean and with the valve pre amp you can blend the sound more vintage.

I play alternative rock in drop D tuning mostly, this is no problem for this amp at all. Its verry loud!

Reliability : 9
I bought a used amp and i have it for a month now, but it seems solid, some wear on the outside but i think its build as a thank!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never has to deal with them!

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for five years and played Hartke, Ampeg and Behringer.
This is a great Amp! it has a big range on sounds and lots of features!
I love the power it has, the deep loudness.
The thing i dont like about the amp is that it weighs like a ton. But it has big handles on the side.

I don't know what year my combo was made in, but it's between '96 and 2000th, since that's the only period they produce this model. It has two channels, active and passive, tube and solid state switch, witch is convenient if you want to mix the tube and solid state types of sound. It has a nice working compressor section, line-out, ballanced out, tuner out, efx send - return - everything a bass player might need.

I use a MusicMan StingRay5 bass, and this is the first amp (I had many different) that could reproduce the real bottom ferequencies of that bass. It's not noisy, the only noise I hear so far is from the cooling fan. It has, in my opinion, the classic rock sound. I haven't heard if it distorts the sound, and I am playng at a max "gain" volume. This actualy gives more warmth and enriches the sound.

Reliability : 9
I bought the amp a month ago, so I can't be that precise, but it looks to me I can depend on it. It has a problem though, the "passive" input is not working, I bought it that way, but I'll get it fixed soon.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with customer support. However, Marshall is a respectable name, so I suppose they can't afford any bad customer support.

I use the DBS 72410 with a custom made tube 500W amp + 4x10' 500W Eden box. For me the combination works great. I play pop, rock, hard-rock and many others, it works for all of them. It's really heavy, but that never stopped me. I've played some Hartke, Gallien-Krueger, Peavey, some of the new Eden - Nemesis series, and many others, but this is my favorite.

I dont know the fabrication year of my 72410 dbs amp.
Im playing in it only two days!Too early to final sound conclusions.
The amp have a compression knob very responsable!
The amp have a valve/solidstate blend buttom too, you can hear a litle difference of valve>state sound when you action this knob.
Fat sound, have 4x10 speakers, i dont know the name of the speakers.
This amp have one knob to bass tone and another one to treble sound.
Sounds professional, the bass and treble knobs.

Sound Quality : 10
I play jazz rock and pop sounds.Im use an 80s jazz bass brazilian copy to play in this amp, sounds good, but, with a bass with a better pick ups sounds better, i think.
No noisy, the eq section is very good, the treble tones in the eq section response profissional.
The horn in the amp is very usefully, when you action more sound in it, the mid/highs go ahead.
To play slap and funk sounds, this amp is a good choice. To other sounds too, depending of your bass and your desire of equalization in it.
This amp sounds with a good, fat and deep bass sound too, i dont know what will happen if we put another cabinet, because in the rear panel have another jack to plug another cabinet !

Reliability : 9
yes i depend of it, this amp is very weight, need 2 persons or 2 good force arms to move it!But it have litle wheels to push it hehe.
No broke yet, i hope never broke nothing in this amp, because i dont have money in this moment to spend with tech people!

Customer Support : 9
I buy it used, no warranty anymore.
But here in Brazil we have good Marshall tech people.

Overall Rating : 9
I play bass since 18yo, i have 40 yo now ! ( i hope to play a litle more )
I have a peavey combo 1x15 too, the peavey eq is different, i cant to explain, in this marshall the eq have more action ! I think.
We, bassists, need amps with good good, excellent eq section in the amps, because the bass is very difficult to get the right equalization, to get the right feel of playability of our mind bass sound !
I never think if someone stolen or lost this amp.
Thank you very much and good luck with your bass aspirations.

The Marshall 72410 is a bass combo. The amp is the same as the 7200 series top. It's 200 watt solid state power amp with tube (ECC83 = 12AX7) and solid state preamp sections. The 72410 has got 4x10" speakers (4 Ohms), the 72115 has got 1x15" (8 Ohm). Both models have built-in HF horns with attenuator on their backs. There's high and low inputs. Controls: gain, balance to mix solid state and tube preamp circuits, EQ controls for bass and treble + (on/off switchable) 7 band graphic EQ. There's also a deep and and bright switch. The amp's got built-in compression with depth control. This and the gain control will set the compression threshold. When compression kicks in, a LED lights up. There's also a big handy master volume knob. The amp's got built-in (balanced) DI, there is a switch for pre or post EQ DI.

On the backside there are 2 speaker outputs. While the amp is driving max power at a a load of 4 Ohms one can NOT connect an extra speaker cabinet to the 72410 (built-in total load=4 Ohm)! This will always result in underload and will cause (too) high currents in the PA! This sucks for me because I'd like to use an extra Ampeg 4x10" cabinet for big gigs. BTW: you can hook up an extra (8 Ohm) cabinet to the 72115 while this speaker is also 8 Ohm.

On the back there's also a tuner output, effect send/return, line output, balanced DI output (XLR), DI level switch, earth lift switch and connection to switch the graphic EQ on/off.

Marshall has integrated their dynamic bass technology in these amps that ensures 200 W RMS with a lot of headroom: they claim 2 kW (10 dB!) peak power! Not bad huh?

I think this amp is very versatile. Maybe I would have appreciated an extra semi-parametric mid EQ. While the amp is well powered, I also would have appreciated a total load of 8 Ohms for the 4x10" model so that one can connect an ext speaker cabinet. I think the general thought behind it, is that with the 1 x 15" (72115) you might need something extra at high powers, with the 4 x 10" (72410) you probably don't.

Sound Quality : 8
I'm using this (quite heavy) combo for upright bass. That's right, a so called doghouse or bull-fiddle. My pickup system is the rockabilly slap special (K&K Sound, sold by Bob Gollihur www.gollihur.com). There are only a few amp's that are suitable for stringbass and this is one of them. Before this amp, I used a Hughes & Kettner Basskick series amp (the 303) which is also excellent for URB, but I needed some more power. The 72410 is giving me that extra bass and extra power. The HF horn's is not that good as the H&K HF driver, but that's not too difficult to replace. The basses are deep and tight and you have good control of those difficult mid frequencies. I really like the preamp balance where one can blend the tube and solid state section. The graphic EQ is also quite good. The built-in DI is a luxury to me. The built-in speakers are quite OK although I like the Ampeg's speakers better (disconnected the internal speakers and connected the Ampeq cabinet. Sounds a bit negative, but I'm quite happy with it! The HF on the H&K was better so that's why I'm givin' it an 8. I've tried my Yamaha J-bass with it for a few minutes, but not long enough to give you a good sound review. I think it did okay but I'm not a bass guitar specialist. It's loud and it's got good tone controls, I think that'll do for most bass guitar players?

Reliability : No Opinion
It's build like a tank and quite heavy. Sometimes there's a little "tick"; probably a small capacitor to earth that's not working properly. Can't really say more about this because I only have it for a few months now.

Customer Support : 6
I've mailed some questions to Marshall customer support (can I connect an external cabinet, what speakers are in there, is it 2x4-Ohms-in-parallel in series or vice versa or 4 x 16 Ohms parallel?), it took some time before I got half-an answer, I'm not too enthousiastic about it. I bought it second hand without warrenty so I probably don't have to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 8
It's quite a good amp for my slappin' upright bass. I love the bass and power, hope to improve the HF with another horn and I'm thinking of installing a switch to disconnect 2 of the built-in speakers leaving me with only 2 speakers with a load of 8 Ohms. I know, I know, I'll be carefull not to blow up the 2 built-in speakers. It's a good quality amp for a very reasonable price. If a thief wants to go throught the effort of stealin' it (it's *very* heavy) then I'd probably buy something similar depending on what's available on the Dutch second hand market. I still like the H&K's, would have liked a 505 (515) or 707 (717). I'm also curious about their Bassforce XL and XXL. Nevertheless this 72410 suits my needs right now and of course Marshall amps look very COOL!
