Features : 8
15 watts bass amplifier. Features a "modern" setting and a "classic" setting. The modern setting as a built in compressor. The classic channel as a gain knob.
It includes a low filter, a high filter and a voice filter. The voice filter is mainly a Mid scooper. Turn it up to enhance the low mids and cut the high mids. It as a CD audio input and a headphone jack, as well as a 1/4 inch line out.
For the price this amps features all the neccessities of a small practice amp.
This amp is intended for practice only. Its powerfull enough to play along acoustic guitars and small percussions. Not with a drum.

Sound Quality : 9
I play this amp with an American Fender Jazz bass and an acoustic Godin bass. When I use this amp I mostly play over records and I find it easy to emulate the sound of the artist I am playing along to. I play anything from Mars Volta to Stevie Wonder and can find just the right sound for the music I play. Of course the sound is very generic, its not unique, but its a nice versatile bass sound. The amp is a bit noisy and I wouldnt recommend Miking it for recording. When I bought this amp I prefered it to the Fender Rumble 15 wich is the same price. I found the mb15 to have a better punch and overall bottom tone.

Reliability : No Opinion
Its new so I havent got enough mileage to see if its gonna be a dependable unit. It is rugged and well built, everything seems solid and tough. I Wouldnt use it for a Gig because of its limited power, but if it would be a 100 watt amps.......I would bring it without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No experience. Nice instruction manual, well detailled, ok warranty.

Overall Rating : 10
For a 15 watt amp, it is rather big, but I guess that is the recipe for a nice rounded Bottom. I was surprised of the tone of that unit. Most 15 watts amps are just dull, the Mb15 is very alive and feels like your regular amp. I have owned a 15 watts yorkville and a 15 watts Peavy, that just sounded awful, and had no punch at all. If It was stolen, I would buy the same thing. I already have a big 400 watts Ampeg, wich is unsuitable for practice in my appartment. The Mb15 doesnt sound close to the ampeg, but it feels like a real amp and got me practicing at home again.

Made in India.

I play Rock and Metal, the amp is great for those styles, it can produce a great deep, rumbling tone.

Has 2 Channels. Modern, which is a clean channel with a compresser and Classic, which distortion can be added to with the gain control.

The Front Panel has an input jack, Channel select control, with seperate volumes for both channel, compresser switch with knob for selecting the amount of compression wanted, gain control knob, 3 band EQ, Bass, Voice (mid), Treble, CD/MP3 input, emulated line-out, headphones out.

It would be cool if it had more EQ options or more effects, but what do you expect with a value amp.

The gain control can give a good amount of distortion too your sound, but sometimes too much or too little. I personally prefer the Modern channel cos I love that clean, clear sound. Although, the compresser doesnt seem effect your sound much.

The CD input is very useful, especially for playing along with your favourite songs, or even using the amp to listen to your ipod louder. The emulated line-out is also really useful as it gives a really good tone for recording, instead of using a headphones jack to record stuff, which seems to distort the sound heavily.

I use this amp as a practice amp, but I have used it to play live at a small venue. It had to be miked up, but it was loud enough for me to hear myself. It certainly has enough power for practicing in a room anyway.

I use a Washburn XB125 (5 string) and an old Westone Thunder Jet (4 string) bass. The Washburn has high output active soapbar pickups. The amp sometimes has problems handling the high output pickups at higher volumes, but this can easily be fixed by fiddling around with the knobs on the bass. The amp has no problems with the passive westone, with a single P pickup.

This amp suits my style of music (metal and rock) really well. You can get a really good Cliff Burton style tone with the gain control. As previously mentioned, the amp can easily be EQed to get an awesome deep and rumbling tone, which is always good for the genres I play. You can get a wide variety of different tones using the two channels and the EQ. The manual comes with a guide for getting the sound you want for the style of music you play, which I thought was cool.

The gain control can give a good amount of distortion too your sound, but sometimes too much or too little. I personally prefer the Modern channel cos I love that clean, clear sound. Although, the compresser doesnt seem effect your sound much.

The clean channel remains clean until you get to about 9/10 on the volume knob, or earlier if you are using a high output bass (but as mentioned, this can be sorted out be EQing your bass).

Reliability : 10
I have had the amp for about 9 months now, and I have never had any problems with it, even after playing whole gigs with the volume on full, so I'm giving it a 10 :D

Customer Support : 10
I've never had to deal with customer support, but I'm sure it would be great, as it's Marshall :D

It comes with a 3 year warranty, which I thought was great.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for about a year, and although I have used a variety of other amps, this is the only one I own.

If it was stolen or lost, I think I would go for something bigger, as I need a bigger amp for gigs, and I also like trying out new things, so I would get something different probably.

I love the quality of the build and the great tones I can get out of it. There isn't much I hate about it really.

I bought the amp, as I needed an amp, and I had a very limited budget. I went for this one specifically as I felt it was the best value for money, it had great reviews, it had all the features I needed, and it's a Marshall! I am very glad I got this amp over all the other affordable practice amps, as I feel this is such great value.

I bought this little amp in 2008, it had (I say had.. because I have since returned it to the place of purchase and got a refund) a compressor, eq, classic and modern settings, line in (CD) and phones output.

It's your bog standard little practice amp that I bought thinking it'll do the job when not playing on the big rig..

Sound Quality : 4
I've been playing bass for a couple of years, I have a Fender Geddy Lee Jazz bass that is insane..! I play all sorts of music, from funk, reggae, country... and was looking for a little versatile amp to practice with. When I got home - I found the amp had a lot of background noise (with or without the bass plugged in), and didn't at all live up to what I felt it should do. The compressor was average I thought.

Reliability : 1
Could I depend on it? nope - it lost all sound a week after buying it... (read on..)

I sent it back to Marshall (through the place I bought it from) and it got 'repaired'... something was blown in the input connection or volume control (I wasn't paying enough attention unfortunately, as I just wanted it fixed under warranty... as it is only a cheapo practice amp) It came back, and was buzzing pretty bad. The guys at the shop opened up the cabinet, and the Marshall folks had left the speaker wires hanging on the speaker cone.. !!! so.. after a bit of duct tape it was fixed at last, I took it home, and thought.. hmmm maybe this amp is ok after all, then after 5 mins of playing, the amp dies again, and no sound.

Overall Rating : 1
I own a Hartke 500w head, and a genz Benz 600w 2x12 Neox cab, they very much do the job.

If this Marshall amp was stolen, I'd be very grateful to the theif.

So at this point, the Marshall MB15 amp is now back with the shop, and I have the refund cash in my pocket, to which I have since gone out an bought a Roland Bass Cube 30, that sounds and is AWESOME. Don't buy a Marshall Bass amp in my opinion.. maybe I've just been unlucky with a dud off the factory floor - who knmows.

Good for room practice,it have a nice sound output with my Fender Jazz,Yamaha RBX 374 & Ibanez SR705.But the 8 in driver hard to bring out ibanez B string sound. So i replace the stock 8in driver with Eminence Alpha 8 125watt driver. Now it bring the sound tight & warm with Full volume each channel. As loud as 60 watts combo amp.

I think this practice amp was introduced in 2006 and I got mine in May 2007.

Has usual 3 way equalisation.

It has a modern channel and a classic channel with a gain control in an attempt to emulate the classic valve sound. I own a valve bass amp and like it but I prefer the modern channel on this amp.

It has an adjustable compressor which I think is a fantastic addition for a practice amp.

It has CD input, headphone and even line out facility which I am very impressed by.

Having heard similar amps I am gobsmacked by the sound. It really fills our rather large lounge. It totally drowns out my daughters Peavey 15w guitar amp. I am glad I didnt bother forking out extra for a 30w amp.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a Yamaha RBX170. I like rock, fast and slow. It seems alright for this style but I am no expert.

If I whack the guitar and amp on full power I get the usual slight earthing buzz until I touch a string and it stops. I find this with most set ups.

The modern channel does give a nice slightly distorted sound at higher volumes. It sounds a bit aggresive when using the 'treble' pick up on the bass which suits my style.

The classic channel is okay but nothing compared to a real valve amp.

The compressor actually works well. Far better than my old Boss CS3 before I modded it with a pedaldoc kit.

Reliability : No Opinion
Cant imagine it breaking but I have only had it for 5 weeks.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I imagine my local shop would sort it out quickly. I would expect Marshall to take an interest.

Overall Rating : 10
I got this because I was sick of lugging my Ashdown MAG 210 to practice sessions and my wife wanted something smaller to take up residence in the lounge.

I think its great and would replace it.
