I think this practice amp was introduced in 2006 and I got mine in May 2007.

Has usual 3 way equalisation.

It has a modern channel and a classic channel with a gain control in an attempt to emulate the classic valve sound. I own a valve bass amp and like it but I prefer the modern channel on this amp.

It has an adjustable compressor which I think is a fantastic addition for a practice amp.

It has CD input, headphone and even line out facility which I am very impressed by.

Having heard similar amps I am gobsmacked by the sound. It really fills our rather large lounge. It totally drowns out my daughters Peavey 15w guitar amp. I am glad I didnt bother forking out extra for a 30w amp.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a Yamaha RBX170. I like rock, fast and slow. It seems alright for this style but I am no expert.

If I whack the guitar and amp on full power I get the usual slight earthing buzz until I touch a string and it stops. I find this with most set ups.

The modern channel does give a nice slightly distorted sound at higher volumes. It sounds a bit aggresive when using the 'treble' pick up on the bass which suits my style.

The classic channel is okay but nothing compared to a real valve amp.

The compressor actually works well. Far better than my old Boss CS3 before I modded it with a pedaldoc kit.

Reliability : No Opinion
Cant imagine it breaking but I have only had it for 5 weeks.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I imagine my local shop would sort it out quickly. I would expect Marshall to take an interest.

Overall Rating : 10
I got this because I was sick of lugging my Ashdown MAG 210 to practice sessions and my wife wanted something smaller to take up residence in the lounge.

I think its great and would replace it.
