This Marshall 4x10" speakers, 300 watts of pure sound has a Valve Preamp. You can select from 2 channels, Vintage and Modern, includes a foolproof footswitch, and a blend feature to mix in the modern sound with some vintage grounds. The amp is very versitile, for the past week of owning I have played Funk, Jazz, Metal, Rock; this amp is very flexible. This amp is extremly powerful. Take if you play in a 4 piece band, I pretty much doubt if you play in a small village hall or a pub that you would have to take the master volume above 5.

Sound Quality : 10
I am using an old 1980's Westbury Track 2, which was my dad's old bass. Through the passive switch on the amp, the bass guitar sounds very nice. Practically no distortion on high volumes. As I said before, you can pretty much play any style on this amp, lots and lots of settings to choose from. Maybe a little too much. A little fuzzing going on at the very high volumes, but you can combat this by putting the gain down. I was a little worried that 10" speakers wouldn't give enough Low sound, but I can assure it's plenty.

Reliability : 7
This is the part I worry about. When I got this amp for the first time, a few weeks back, the packaging was scruffy, books and leaflets ripped inside, I knew it was going to be bad. I plugged the amp in, and first thing i heard was a tremendous buzzing from the top left speaker. There was, however, no hassle in returning the product, and now, a week later I am here with the new amp. Package much better, leaflets and books in best condition. The thing that makes me worry is, how did the speaker break the first time? Was it just a faulty make, if it was, how would it have gone through QC, which I hope was, or was the previous user cranking it up and it just.. Broke. I dont know, but I am happy with the new, working amp.

Customer Support : 10
The customer support from where I bought the amplifier, "Soundslive" was very good. When we called them on the friday to ask for an exchange, they were happy to pick it up on the Monday. I was suprised they were happy to pick it up, seeing as we live on opposite ends of the country, and return for the following Thursday. So we are very happy that there was no trouble with the return. I think they had no hassle because they were quite embarresed with the whole incident.

Overall Rating : 9
I have now been playing bass for 5 or so years. This is my first proper power amp, and I hope to have this for the rest of my playing years. If it were lost or stolen I would buy it again, or, if I had a little more money, I would cash out on a Stack. But, really I'm now happy to be a proud Marshall owner!
One thing I'd like to share? Well, if you were worried whether or not this would be loud enough, trust me, it's a beast. Buy it and you will not be ashamed!
