like the review above, also made 2004.its all tube all handmade. no PCB's , turret track with 3 preamp tubes and 4 jj tesla 6550 power tubes. it just doen't get better than this. its at my studio going through a black matamp 4x10 cabinet with eminence speakers..it is rated at 140 watts but a simple swicth brings it to 70.it is black with black panel and "black" logo on it with my name on.
instead of separate outputs for different ohms, i have two outputs with a ohm switch-4, 8, 16. your choice.
the front panel control layout is very simple. for me, setting the depth to "doom" setting (thats 6) and everything else at 2 o'clock, it sound like...well, doom!
oh yeah, mine has a slave out.

i play with a music man 4 string and i halso have a rickenbacker 3000.
i mostly play rock, and the way the distortion breaks up at higher volume is just what i need. i can get that geezer butler sound, kyuss/QOTSA sound, or my favorite lou barlow cira 1987!the noise on it is quuite minimal, but considering how loud the amp works for you, its nothing.the amp can make sounds from a real nasal midrange to a ballzy tight bottom.i like my setting in the lowest depth, and ever=ything else at 2' 0clock.
the distorion makes you want to throw up.it sounds RIDICULOUS.

funny thing is that i took just the head to a gig, hooked it up to the house cabinet, and it didn't work. i brought it to repair only to let my techie say theres nothing wrong with it. ... this am is built to LAST it will last FOREVER.

this amp along with the 4x10 cabinet are my babies. i always look foward to coming to the studio to play becuase my tone is the killer bass tone.
i call it "the 70's blown out sound"
i 've compared it to ampegs, orange(new ones, the old ones were matamp too!)aguilar, marshalls super basses, laney, vox, hiwatt, sound city, selmers, you name it, i still love my matamp!
if it were lost, i'd would be very bummed, so i've taken it upon myself to get another amp!YES as i am writing this review, matamp is making me another custom 6550 head!(i'll let you know about it when i get it!
