2002 Walkabout. Straight forward with good EQ and gain options.

Running it with a Lakland 5-String (Bartolinis) and Music Man Sterling 5-String into two 8ohm Aguilar cabs (1x12 and 2x12). Works great for jazz and rock. Runs quiet running it at 2-6 volume and gain to 5. It is versatile and really each base shine. Doesn't adversely color or over-color the tone of each bass.

The amp is built liek a tank. I had problems with teh 'Active' input jack. Mesa switched out both the Active and Passive input jacks at no charge to me (with there improved hardware). Not a single problem since that time.

Mesa is great. I own much of their 6-string guitar gear as well.
EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SUPPORT every time.

I have been playing bass for 20 years. This is a great piece of equipment at a great price. It sounds very different through different cabs and basses. I tried it out with Edne, Mesa, Aguilar and SWR cabs of vrs spkr configurations and sizes. I tried an Eden 400 thru all of the same cabs. I preferred the Mesa in every case and the Aguilar cabs sound great with it. I would buy this again. If you can play, you will be pleased with the true and dynamic response.

Basic but straight forward. Was looking for a change from my SWR 350 which I have owned for about 10 years. Didn't have all the features of the SWR but had a DI volume.

I bought this right before a gig. Brought it home cracked open the box and the amp wouldn't fire. I pulled a tube, replaced it and it fired for five minutes and then blew the second preamp tube. Took it back. I got another a day later. I fired it up and it had a bad jack. It sounds great but I'm not so sure about the workmanship. I know they are suposed to be great but not these two. For $800 I shouldn't have to pop the hood in the first five minutes!

2002 Mosfet tube driven 300 watts @4ohms, very straight ahead use and sound shaping. Active and Passive inputs, 3 Band parametric eq and Direct Out level Control for the signal to the board. Single channel, with effects loop. This is the amp for the bass purest, plenty of power and only 13 lbs. Mesa Quality-Top Shelf stuff!

I play a USA early model Tobias Growler with an active Bartolini pickup, running the Walkabout through an AMPEG SVT HLF 410 and get
tremendous versatility. Great slap, deep lows but not boomy, great
shaping of jazz to blues to rock. Very quiet output, no hum no noise.
Signal can be overdriven by the gain, if you are into that, as well.
I have played EDEN, SWR, AMPEG, and G&K, this is the real deal, don't let the size fool you.
