It's a transistor clone of the Fender Bassman 135. Build in the early 70's.
2 Channels (Bass and Normal), each with volume and 3 band passive EQ. The bass-channel has a Bassboost switch and the Normal Channel a bright switch.
In stead of a Master Volume (like the Bassman) this one has a overall Presence knob.

The sound quality is superb, very tube-like. I use it for my Alesis Synth, Yamaha Bass (with J-style pickups) and Les Paul guitar and it sounds great for all of it.
It's extremely loud (250W are acutal RMS Watts...) as I have never turned the volume past 2 on the basschannel. The normal channel is even more extreme, which provides you with about 1 mm of room on the volume to play with. I'm using it with different cabs. For bassguitar I'm using my Behringer BA410. When in use with my synth or guitar I'm using my FBT 15" speaker (build in '72).
The only thing I'm missing is a reverb, but hey, the bassman hasn't got it either!
Reliability

It survived 35 years of beating and abusing. And still lives!
It has a few minor problems (crackling pots, a minor hum etc), but that's normal over so many years.

Well now, that's the problem. I'm guessing Pearl never sold too many PB-7100's, as there is no information available on the internet. I've tried to e-mail Pearl Musical Instruments, but they simply refuse to answer...

I love this amp. It's very versatile, extremely loud and has survived 35 years of abuse.
If it got stolen or lost I would be very pissed (but that's normal, isn't it?) as it is not that common to encounter one...
