I purchased the 215 bottom new @1976. At that time it was sold with a Peavey head called "The Bass". The Bass specs....200 Watts RMS @ 1% THD into 2 Ohms. The combo cost $380.00. The bottom has tremendous punch in the low end and good mid range response. It has seen a couple hundred RnB, Funk, Disco, and Jazz gigs. In 2005 it still looks and sounds like "brand new".

Unfortunately the head and the bottom are no longer available from Peavey. Excellent value.

Bought used at Lancaster Music (Lancaster, Texas) in 2002 and paid about $200 for the cab. It was in really good condition but was rather old. I don't know what the model number is because the plate is so worn that it is unreadable. Two 15 inch Peavey bass speakers with one 1/4 inch input jack. Two good side handles and ball shaped casters. Tolex type covering and a cloth grill. Ohming the speakers make me believe that it is a 4 ohm cab. It has "sliver" colored metal strips on each side of the grill and matches an old Peavey BW 1-18 cab that I have. I'm guessing the age to be at least 10 years old. Very sturdy cab. I'm giving it an 8 just because it is just a simple twin 15 cab.

Why play bass? I love that deep bottom sound of twin 15's pushed by a decent amp with a decent bass guitar attached. Classic Rock is about all I play anymore and this cab is great for the sound. I run a 450 watt bass head through this cab (which only makes the amp output about 300 watts at 4 ohms) without any distortion problems.

I bought it old and used (but in GREAT cosmetic and functional condition) and have used it many hours with no problem. I even lent it to a prep school's jazz band for a year and it came home still kicking. A few months ago, it fell out of my pickup truck on a bumpy road and hit the pavement. I was driving about 35mph at the time and it took a nosedive over the tailgate of my Ford Ranger. I turned around to go back and pick up the pieces of the "broken cab" and to my surprise I found it still in one piece with just some road rash on one side. Not even much rash. I couldn't believe it so I took it home and hooked it back up and the cab sounded just like it always has. THAT'S A TOUGH CAB.

Who's Peavey? They sure make a tough cab. Or at least they did cause this one is no longer made. My son called Peavey and described the cab and the tech told him that is sounded like a B215 or BX215 to him and confirmed the 4 ohm reading that I had gotten with my meter.

I've played bass since the late 50's. We own a lot of equipment but not much from Peavey. We bought this cab because I really wanted a twin 15 cab. I had a single 15, a single 18, and a 4-10 bass cab, but I really like the bottom end of the 2 - 15 cabs. I have been meaning to change the casters ever since I bought it, but so far I still have the round ball casters that it left the factory with.
