Good graphic/parametric EQ, crossover, compressor etc...lots of features for useage.

Sound Quality : 9
I use this with a Spector NS2A bass loaded with EMG's, sounds great through the 2-10" and horn, everything is clear, no distortion. I play everything from country to metal and this thing has held up through it all. Compressor is a bit noisy, but nothing to worry about. I've gotten crisp clean highs and low's, there isn't anything wrong with the sound from this thing. I've ran just this combo against Marshall half stacks and it can keep up, and there is absolutely NO worry when you fit a 15" bottom cabby under it...it makes it sound huge, clean, and has NO problem with 2 marshall half stacks cranking....it holds its own.

Reliability : 9
Can I depend on it?...I've owned this thing NEW since I bought it in late 94..the only problem I've had is the knobs can easily be broken off it not handled carefully during loading. The only other problem was a speaker wire came disconnected...Not bad reliability for 13 years I would think...Never had it serviced, and still using it today...

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with customer support...I just get the knobs replaced by a local dealer when they do break, which can run a few $$...

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing bass for 22 years, I've used Hartke, SWR, Ampeg, Trace, Yorkville...I'll still take this Peavey product over any and all I've just mentioned. The only amp that I can see being superior, MAYBE would be Ampeg,,,but then you can buy 3 full stacks for their price of 1...

For a "Basic" amp, the 9 band EQ, Compressor (noisy) and the High & Low shelving work pretty well.

Sound Quality : 8
With my Yamaha BBN5A at medium volume, the voicing of the amp is at its best, Big, Smooth & warm

Reliability : 10
Purchased new in 1996, still rockin!

Customer Support : 9
Called them one on a question of Impedance loads. The gentleman I spoke with was friendly & helpful.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been a bass player for approx 30 yrs, played a lot of gigs, owned lots of different gear. This Peavey is a wonderful value.
Excellent combination of voicing, power & reliability.

Many usable features, don't all Peaveys? For it's price range can do a lot. Use it as the top of a rig in a contemporary Praise and Worship band.

Sound Quality : 8
Unusually loud for such a small amp. But, it does have 200 something watts. Very clean sound, if you want it, or you can grunge it up with the pre/post knobs.

Reliability : 9
I bought this amp used, about 4 years ago and it has never let me down. It's been thrown around Uhauls and pickup trucks and keeps on booming.

Customer Support : 9
Never had to deal with them on this unit. But, Peavey has always been pretty good to deal with. I've been using their products, off and on, for about 30 years.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing bass for 33 years. Have used Peavey gear almost as long. If I had my druthers, I would have Ampeg bass amps. But, for the price, reliability and features, I keep going back to Peavey. This is the 4th Peavey bass amp that I have owned. It's been a real good one. I just bought a 410TX cabinet to use with it. Plenty of power to push it, too.

Has built-in compression and a 7-band EQ. Also a user-unfriendly EQ parametric knob. "Limiter" LED lights up at low volumes. A crap amp.

Sound Quality : No Opinion

This amp is shit. Don't buy one under any circumstances without playing one first. A 100-lb combo monstrosity way overrated at 210 watts. Doesn't have much low end; decent punch at high-mid frequencies, but that's it. Why Peavey would design a 210-watt combo bass amp with 2-10" inch speakers is beyond me. No funk with this amp, let alone hard rock.

Reliability : No Opinion
This amp cannot be depended on. It was purchased new in Sept. '99 and has blown two sets of speakers, while never being turned up past four or five. Volume levels change if you leave it on for more than a half hour.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Farrow's Music in Kalamazoo, MI did not stand behind product. Peavey warranty is a joke-it cost a hundred dollars to get the speakers fixed the second time.

Overall Rating : 1
Don't buy this amp or any other Peavey bass amp. Spend a few bucks and get a reall bass amp. like a SWR or(especially) Ampeg.

Peavey Combo 210TX Bass Amplifier

Purchased used on Ebay for $350. (January, 2003)

210 Watts @ 4 Ohms
300 Watts @ 2 Ohms (when connected to external 4 Ohm Speaker)
2 x 10" speakers + horn.
7 Band EQ
Bass & Treble Boost Knobs. (seperate from EQ)
Compressor
Pre & Post Gain
-10db cut on Input (for guitars with Active Electronics)
Crossover Control for external speaker
Various input/output connectors

I purchased this amp used for $350. Unit is rated at 210 Watts running through (2) 10" internal speakers and a small horn. The first thing I discovered is that this amp is very heavey. (about 100 lbs) The amp has built in handles on the side but unit is just a bit too wide to get a comfortable grip to carry it using them. A set of casters is in order for moving this thing around. Construction is excellent and the general layout of the controls/knobs is good. Large cooling sinks extend out of the back and the unit has top ventiliation vent on top. This should prevent unit from overheating. There is a large bass port in back. Unit features various input/outputs for mixing into sound board.

Sound Quality : 8
This amp really sounds 'big'! I have to admit I come from the 'old school' where bass amps must use/have big speakers. (ex: 15") The combination of (2) 10" speakers + horn is great! There is plenty of low end while having a nice 'punchy' sound. The 7 band EQ along with the Bass & Treble boost knobs makes for a great sounding amp. It will of course take a little time/practice to get the 'right' sound for you. The amp can be connected to an additional 4ohm speaker. (Peavey recommends the 115BX model which contains (1) 15" speaker) In this configuration the ohm load is lowered from 4 to 2 and power rating goes from 210 to 300 Watts! (Yikes!) Overall this is great sounding amp and it can really pump out some serious bass/tone.

I haven't had to deal with Peavey on any Customer Support issues. Their website WWW.PEAVEY.COM contains useful information on all of their 'new' products and has copies of their 'old' manuals for free download. It also has several bulletin board type areas where you can discuss just about any music/equipment related topics. There is also a 'glossary' section which contains useful 'technical' related items/terms. (ex: Ohms Law)

Overall Rating : 8
Overall this is a great amp for the money. The 2x10" combination makes for some great bass tones while maintaining a nice 'punchy' feel. The amp is very heavey so it might be more suited for a 'permanent' location/situation. (ie: church) There is plenty of control over the sound via the various EQ, Level, Compressor knobs. The amp is 'expandable' with the option of hooking up an external speaker. If you are concerned about getting a great bass tone/punch and don't mind lugging around a 100 lb amp this might just be the amp for you.

Thanks
David Sadler

This thing blows everything else, in its price range, out of the water!

I haven't owned it for that long, and I got it used (two years old) and it seems pretty solid. And since its solid state, it probobly is.

I've been playing for a year, and this is the best AMP I've played on especially for the price. I also own a Fender Frontman 15B that I use for practicing, and that amp doesn't even compare to the 200TX in terms of sound quality. Only thing I don't like is that its extremly heavy, but it has to be. This is definatly a good buy.
