160 watts @ 4 ohms, 125 @ 8 ohms. contour knob, bright switch, 3 band eq with variable mid frequency... and a bunch of other things like an xlr output and effects loop which i dont really use.

I'm liking the idea of a 4 band eq more and more, so I plan on getting a Gallien Krueger head in the near future. This amp does the trick for now. I'd say the wattage rating is pretty accurate. I would love to have it a little louder, but it works for practicing with a band.

Sound Quality : 6
I use this with a Spector NS-2000 Q4 and an Acoustic 1x15 cab. About 99% of the time I play fingerstyle (with a rather heavy touch) and I play mostly some sort of alternative rock with some slight funk or James Jamerson influence to it.

The sound is nothing all that impressive, but it gets the job done since I'm not all that specific about sound. The thing is that I find the eq doesnt seem very effective at all. The contour knob isnt very effective either. I find that anything other than 8 or 9 o'clock sounds either way too midrange-y or too hollow.

Reliability : 9
Now this is the part the amp shines! I've had this amp for somewhere around 2 years now and it has never failed me. My drummer's brother even once spilled coffee on this head and it went INSIDE it through the top cooling vents and there was no problem with the thing at all. I find the construction to be very study and solid.

Doesnt really get too hot, even after a few hours of hard playing with my band. The only thing I noticed is that it seems to loose some volume after extended periods of hard playing, but that could be just me. This is the only reason why this thing gets a 9 instead of a 10.

Good deal for the money, if you're not too specific about your sound. I've been playing bass for 4 years and 11 months. If this was stolen or lost, I would replace it with most likely a Gallien-Krueger 400RB IV.

I've been playing out of Peaveys for years and finally was able to get a delta about a year ago. I've matched it with an 8x10 cab. It sounds awesome. You can get whatever tone you want. I play in a rock band and we play medium to large sized gigs around town. We play alot of Finger 11, Godsmack, Staind, Taproot, Black Sabbath, Metallica(old). This amp gives me all the power I need to play for small gigs of 100+, as well as bigger gigs of 1000+ people. It rocks!

Sound Quality : 9
I play a Peavey 5 string with RotoSound strings. With our somewhat "hard rock" style, I need lots of volume outside as well as inside. I get it with the Delta. I dont get any distortion from the amp at a lower volume but it almost starts to get fuzzy at the full volume. By that time though your ear drums feel like their about to burst. The variety is what ever sound you want.

Reliability : 9
Out of playing this rig for a year the only problem I've had wasn't with the head so I really can't complain. And yes I would play gigs without a backup and I have before. One of the speakers in the cab was blown from the factory after a simple replace it was fine.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Ive got a 5 year warranty. I can't say anything about this rig because I haven't had a real problem, but with peavey they do anything to keep you happy it seems. I just wish other cheaper companies had as good a reputation as peavey.

Overall Rating : 9
I did have a Fender Bassman combo before this rig it was 100 watts and it just had bad tone at the high volume. This head with Peavey is awesome all over. I would hate to spend that much money again if it were stolen but if I could I would. I compared this product at every consevable level, every brand etc. I would only recomend this head with a reasonably large head though, if all you want is volume. A 4x10, 4x12, 8x10, any of thes are great for the Delta. I love the heads two speacker ports. So I can hook up two 8x10 caabs if I want to. Or any other combination. It's an overall great head.

I purchased this Peavey head along with a 210 tvx cab. As you can tell by the price I paid, this looked to be a great deal for a like new rig. This head is solid state with little power. I upgraded to an Ampeg b2 combo which smokes. The only feature I miss is the Peavey had a tuner send which was great for jammin. The Deltabass does have most typical features for a lower end bass head, which make this head appealing. Features: Effects loop, tuner send, 2 speak outs, line out, good tone controls but no eq and zero effects.

Sound Quality : 5
I play a Fender P standard. I play in a guitar club at work and also in a part time band. In the guitar club we play alot of classic rock from canned heat to deep purple. In band we play modern, classic rock for the people and some Black Sabbath for ourselves. Anywhere, time or place I took this amp I had it at 9-10 volume out of 10. It just couldn't do it. Drums without mic's alone could drown this baby right out. The guitar player in our band plays a 100 watt Marshall valve at 1/4 vol and drowns me right out. Buzzing at full volume is huge but you can rid it if you also want to rid all your tone. The tone range is minimal and the only evident tone ranges are from zero to max high or lows. There is very low distortion at high volumes but the peak/led cuts you out before it can get too bad, this is also very annoying. Good for afternoon coffee house slow jam, but no good at all if you wanna rock or even just a little roll.

Reliability : 6
Yep its solid electronically. The wood and material used for the covering are very poor. The material scuffs easy and I actually pressed my finger down hard right below the voulme control and there was alot of wood crunching, I obviously stopped before it got too bad, but would have been intersting to see how bad it could have been. Crank it up for an hour or so and stand back cause she gets hot, but that's expected. I think overall it is very dependable and you could go without a backup but where I don't know because you wouldn't want to gig this thing unless you line out to something huge.
Overall electronics very reliable vinyl and particle board surrounding both head and cab are very poor.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never used but what I hear from the grapevine is that Peavey sells solid products and are good with customer support.

I have played guitar for 7 years and we were looking for a bass player. I went to an auction 8 months ago and bought a Fender P for next to nothing, and now I love to play bass. If it were stolen or lost I would not replace it. Heck I am selling it right now. If you want a cool looking rig to sit in you're house that you practice on then by all means it is what you need. If I were to compare it to my new Ampeg b2 its a David vs. Goliath, but David doesn't win this one. I went to the local guitar shop and they asked what I was using, and a joke arised that I was playing in Peavey watts. The amp isn't all bad because of the price, but it should really be in a combo because truckin cabs around to plug into this little thumper is rather silly. A headphone jack, and maybe a few light effects(ie.chorus) would be a nice addition. Buy it used, beacuase if you pay all that money for it new you may be diappointed.

This bass head appears to be well made like the good old days (1970's) when we all started w/Peavey or Kustoms. It is tank like in fit and finish. If it lasts like their stuff used to I should have it for another couple of decades, and the five year warranty will never come into play. Is it the prettiest---no, a little boxy looking. Is it the coolest---no I find the red and black two tone a little gaudy.

Is it well made----Hell yes--hasn't let me down yet.

Made in the good ole US of A. This bass head was supposed to be a starter as I climbed back onto the gig circuit. I matched it up with a little Peavey 2x 10 cabinet and it rocks the house. I went through several auditions recently before landing my current gig. From Jazz, to Rock, Fusion, and Country everybody at every audition commented on what a great tone this little rig has. It's loaded w/features such as Balanced Line out, Speaker Protection, and EQ w/ Contour that actually gives a wide spectrum of more than just useable tones...please see my earlier statement. It pumps out 160 Watts at 4 Ohms which is plenty for an amp w/a balanced DI, and the speaker protection is a great addition if you use a lot of volume and wide dynamics. My ONE COMPLAINT is that it takes a minimum 4 ohm load. That certainly limits the different speaker configurations I'd like to use, and I have written the company to that effect. If you go under 4 Ohms by adding cabinets you risk frying the circuits. Otherwise this Bass Head would probably be the only one I'd ever need.

Sound Quality : 9
As stated previously....the sound is anything you could want. I play many different styles as well as Upright Bass. The contours and EQ's on this bass head allow you to get just about any sound you could possibly want. Yes Virginia, you can dial it in w/out having to go digital.

Reliability : 10
Please see previous comments. I believe it will be another Peavey Tank just like they used to be.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've only written the company to register my warranty. I would appreciate a reply from them as to my comments, but they did respond quickly to let me know that my warranty is in effect.

I have been playing for twenty plus years, and have played through every conceivable amp from tubes to digital. When I started as a teenager one of my first (wished I still had it) amps was one of the old Peavey Century Models (early-mid-seventies) and one of my favourite guitar buds played through a Peavey Mace head. As I moved along I had forgotten about Peavey as a viable option, and in the eighties they were pumping stuff out that didn't seem quite as reliable or as good soundng. Ireally do hope that like an old friend they are back for good.

4 knobs (vol, low, mid, high), 2 1/4" jacks (in,out) and an on/off switch. The previous owner used it for 2 years....as a foot stand. He bought it and 2 weeks later his parents bought him a 120w combo....lucky guy!. It's practically new; well, i know it's used 'cause he didn't give me an invoice.

Very good for the size. Low distortion for my taste of eq setup.

It'll last a lot, at least that's what i get from the casing

This amp is extremely versitle, So versitile that i also use it for a normal guitar. IT has an efx loop that i use constantly and a wet and dry straight out jack on the front (good for pa's). It also has an extremely usefull tuner output which i don't use but i would if i wasn't using a digitech floorboard prossesor, I actually use this amp for guitar more than i do for bass, i use it normally for really clean acoustic coffee house stuff, but when i sat it beside the marshall jcm2000 it kicked the marshalls ass! it cool how this bass amp can kick the ass of an amp that is over 4 times more expensive while using it for an instrument that it wasn't even intended for. This is one of the best solid state amps iv ever used and ever will.

Sound Quality : 8
The sound on this is amazing, at first it had a little fuzz but i got rid of it quick. it always clean, i can make just about anysound with it, i use it with a guild semi acoustic bass and an ibanez rg guitar with seymour duncan invader pickups. this sound unbelieveable.

Reliability : 9
I haven't had it long enough to break but so far its tough as nails, it hasn't even shown a bit of static or any sign of getting old.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I love this amp, most afforable iv ever got and more versitile, best clean sound too, but most of alll its the best amp iv ever heard. its so small its cute but it kick ass out of any other amp you put it beside

Year 2000 model 160W RMS @ 4 ohms / 120W RMS @ 8 ohms. Gain and volume, 3 band eq, bright switch, effects loop, 2 speaker outputs, tuner send and a switch for that damned DDT compression/limiter

Sound Quality : 9
If you crank up the volume all the way there's some brutal hissing but that can be corrected easily by turning down the highs or just using more gain. The distortion on it gets extremely heavy but it's really midrangey.
Playing clean it sounds fine.

Reliability : 10
I've put mine through hell and back again. It's fallen out of the truck several times, been through rain and even had beer spilled on it once and it still works like new.

haven't had to use customer support, peavey builds their gear to last.

Overall Rating : 10
I can get any sound I want out of it, it's great for recording and it's durable as hell. Not to mention cheap.

I use this amp in a very hard rock band. The amp is very quiet - no hissing. Lots of variety in sounds due to features making shaping very easy.

No problems so far - I've only had the amp for about 2 months

This amp is a real bargain for $259 plus tax. I use it with a Hartke 210XL 2X10 cabinet and its REALLY lound. Lots of cool features make sound shaping control easy. I really like the tuner send so I can just plug in and tune without having to switch back to the amp.
