Purchased in October 2007 from MF. It is a very basic 1-channel solid state practice amp with a headphone jack and a CD input. Strangely, these are both 1/4 inch jacks instead of a more common 1/8 inch stereo or RCA (for CD input) jacks. I will never use the transtube simulation preamp circuit, and I wish that the amp either came without this effect, or that it had a rugged on/off pushbutton instead of the loose and apparently broken one that came in my amp.

It sounds just like you would expect a little tiny practice BASS amp to sound - little and tiny. But that's OK as I'm not looking for Ampeg tone here. All I want is a little tiny light and portable amp that I can take to work to play during lunch with my acoustic guitar-playing buddy. My main requirement is that I want it to be RELIABLE.

This amp was intermittent right out of the box. The problem is apparently with the alternate action pushbutton switch on the "Vintage Control" in the preamp section.

Because I purchased from Musicians Friend, I was fortunate enough to be able to return it for a replacement. I'm very happy with the Musician's Friend Customer Support, but I have no idea what kind of track record Peavey would have if I were to try dealing with them directly. I'm only nervous that the new amp that MF will send me will be probably be hampered with the same design flaw of a low-quality pushbutton switch. If the replacement fails right out of the box, I'll ask MF to give me credit toward another brand...

Are you out there, Hartley? I bought this little amp so I could practice during lunch with a guy who plays acoustic guitar. I do NOT need some kind of fancy "tube simulation" and would be much happier if you would either remove this troublesome pushbutton from the design to make it more rugged - or else charge $5 more and replace the 37-cent pushbutton with a Switchcraft or something rugged. FWIW, I figured I'd take a chance on another Peavey due to the 20 years of excellent service that I got with my 1984 Combo 300. But now I'm having doubts about your current quality control... I just HOPE that the replacement amp provided by MF will work - or else I'll apply for credit on something else.
