I needed a bass amp for bedroom practice and band practice in a small room. It's my first bass amp so I just wanted something simple. It's got Gain Low Middle High controls, input and headphone out. Basic stuff but it's all i needed!

Nice punchy sound. I didn't expect it to be this good for the price I paid.

Great. This thing is a rock. I would have trouble breaking this without tools.. if I wanted to break it. Not loud enough to use in a gig but if it was I would be happy to use this without backup.

Not had any problems with my amp so I don't know what their support is like but it came with a 3 year warranty which was extendable to 5 years for filling in a 5 or 6 question questionairre (sp).

This amp is great. For what I need it is perfect. If it were stolen today I would buy another one. However when I start playing gigs I'm gonna need something louder than this.
A good solid amp. Great for bedroom practice. Looking for something for small gigs? You'll need something bigger.

2002 Peavey Microbass combo, made in China. 20W, 8" Blue Marvel speaker, closed cabinet design. 3-band passive EQ, gain control. Connectivity: one input, one headphone out, one 4 ohm mono speaker out. The biggest feature of the Microbass is its size and weight: about as big as three shoeboxes stacked up and 20 lbs.

I'm using this with a Fender Roscoe Beck V and active Rick Turner Renaissance 5, both quality instruments known for having great tone. Believe it or not, this little sucker does justice to the sound of each. Both instruments sound like basses through the amp, and in the case of the RBV, you can actually hear the difference between the many pickup settings. Volume wise, this thing puts out enough sound (for bass) to practice with one or two acoustic guitars and some hand percussion, or a piano and a quiet drummer in a 600-700 sq. ft. space. If you're not an amp snob, try running a piezo-equipped acoustic guitar through the Microbass, and things can get very loud!
The EQ section is passive, so I run all the controls wide open and rely on my hands and the controls at the bass for tonal variation. It's very quiet (as you'd expect at 20W); the only extraneous noise this thing puts out is what's coming from your bass. You can't cheat physics, so this thing gets boxy sounding when cranked (don't push it or you'll rip the speaker) and basically doesn't produce fundamentals below 60 Hz. Nevertheless, you *can* hear your low B string and the pitches it produces. For a cheapo practice amp, it sounds very good indeed.

Solidly built and well designed. Body is hefty tolex covered plywood with metal corner protectors. There are tangs in a recessed area on the back to wrap the power cord around. The front grille is a thick piece of stamped metal. When practicing, I use it as a stool without worry (but I only weigh 130 lbs.) Nothing rattles at high volume...yet.
The controls are probably the achilles' heel of the amp; they don't feel all that sturdy, but at least they're recessed into the front of the amp.

For its size, weight, power rating and price, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better sounding amp.
I live in a major metropolitan area, and when I'm just auditioning at someone's home or going over songs, I don't want to hump something that weighs even 30 lbs. or is so valuable that I'd worry someone might nick it on the subway. This thing is the smallest amp under $150 that can be hauled for 20 city blocks and produces acceptable bass tone. (If you have money to burn, I'd recommend an Acoustic Image Contra or a Clarus with a Raezer's Edge cab.)

It's a basic practice amp. Pre-gain, hi, mid, and low eq. Headphone output. No line in for CD. You can't really expect more for the price.

Compared this amp to several others near it's price range - Fender, Crate, Danelectro. The Peavey sounded fuller, went deeper, and louder than all three. Sounds much bigger than you would expect it to. Not much variety, but again, it's just a practice amp.

I'm a beginner, so I'm just playing it at home. Pots behind knobs seem a bit frail, but they're holding up okay.

Haven't had a need to use them.

As someone new to bass playing, I would highly recommend this amp. They're always available used somewhere, and they sound significantly better than others of similar size and power. You can't go wrong with this for a first bass amp.

Mid-90s Microbass, bought for $60 on eBay! My "bedroom" bass amp - great sounds, highly portable, well-built. Very basic features but what do you want on a practice bass amp?

It's great! A lot of tone and depth from such a small amp. Tone controls don't seem to me to do a whole lot but the amp is so well-voiced that it's not a big deal. I usually only use this amp for messing about while playing a MIJ Squier Bullet Bass (great basses by the way), I practice/explore scales and play bass lines to entertain my kids.

Very solid, hard to imagine that reliability would be a problem. I ahven't gigged it (too quiet) but wouldn't hesitate to do so if I was just playing with a piano or acoustic guitar player
