I'm not sure how old it is, but I got it two years ago and it was used then, so I'll guess it's anywhere from 4-8 years old. Still, I'm really attached to this little 50-watt amp. I can carry it anywhere and it's perfectly plain and simple: input, pregain, eq, headphone jack, power switch. For practice purposes I don't need anything else! I'm hoping to try it as a guitar amp soon, too (guitarists are often amused by the fact that it's smaller than their practice amps).

Sound Quality : 6
I like to keep the high end up a bit 'cos my bass (a Danelectro Longhorn) sounds shinier that way. If the pregain gets turned up too high (past 7 or so) it will fuzz out sometimes, but this seems to vary with the weather, atmospheric conditions, who knows. I can just keep the volume knobs on the bass up and that works all right.

Can't really play gigs with this of course, unless it's a very small intimate venue and you're playing with very quiet people.

Reliability : 9
It hasn't died on me yet (knock on wood).

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never had to deal with the company, and since I got it used it didn't come with a manual or warranty papers.

Overall Rating : 8
This is a perfect first amp for the beginner who wants to practice. And you'll probably wind up keeping it even when you're a non-beginner!

A simple, portable bass amp with basics only. See other accounts. A 2000 model, I guess. Made before they added the red trim.

Sound Quality : 8
With bass guitar, the Microbass has a good tight sound that doesn't get into distortion territory before maxing out. But I get more use out of it with two other applications. 1) It's a good little keyboard amp, with more than adequate bass and treble to project a full, loud tone. Mostly I use the keyboard for auto-accompaniment while shredding my Strat through another amp. 2) Connected to a guitar through the Line 6 POD amp emulator. This is great! Again, the extra bottom allows the amp to ape the huge tone of a Marshall stack or AC-30, but at reasonable practice volumes. Easy on the back. Easy on the wallet! Easy on the wife!

Reliability : 8
Solid as a rock. Closed back, with a place to tuck the cord away.

Haven't needed help, but if a family-owned enterprise in Mississippi can't give you good service, who will?

Overall Rating : 7
Again, a VERY VERSATILE practice amp for keyboard, bass, guitar or anything with a plug on it. One gripe to pass along to Peavey: the little green pilot lot is hard to see if the amp is on the floor and your standing nearby. Because it's so quiet, I often go off and leave it running for days at a time. Otherwise, sweeeet.

These are great litle practice amps for either bass OR guitar. It has very basic controls - volume (called "pre-gain), bass/mid/treble controls, headphone jack and and on/off switch. 8" speaker, Black, industrial strength rhino-hide covering with reinforced corners.

Sound Quality : 7
Sounds great with almost anything you plug into it! Handles open "E" on a bass pretty well, gives a very convincing acoustic sound with an AE, nice rich jazz tone with a hollow body, and a full tone with a solid body. It's not designed to distort but with a decent pedal (I use a Snarling Dogs tweed E. Dog), it overdrives pretty nicely.

Reliability : 10
Built like a tank. Never had any problems with Peavy amps in 20+ years of playing them.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had any cause to call them even with my old Peavey 60 tube amp.

Overall Rating : 10
I bought this little beauty for $60 on eBay ($76.66 with shipping) after playing the new ones (same features, but Made in China [?] and new red logo). It seems way more substantial than the new model. I've only had it a week but I've played almost all my guitars through it and been VERY impressed. If you need a basic bass or guitar practice amp, CHECK THE MICROBASS OUT!!!

Don't know the date of manufacture, but this is a versatile little amp.
Only one channel no frills ,just designed for practice, however I recently ran the headphone output into a PA mixing board and the sound quality out of the board was awesome.A friend of mine used it this way to play bass for us in church and it performed flawlessly.

Sound Quality : 7
Have played a Peavey Fury Bass and a Gremlin Bass thru it thru a mixing board.
If you try to play it too loud it does buzz a little but its only designed to be used as a practice amp inless you run it to a mixer.
Not too much variety but we're talking bass here right a good solid bottom end.

Reliability : 10
Extremely reliable, never broken down.

Peavey has one of the best customer support centers in the USA, ther are always willing to try to help and operators manuals can be downloaded online.
I don't know about the warranty on this amp, but Peavey usually had a pretty good warranty period.I've owned several other Peavey Amps and have only had one that wasn't reliable but I am an Electronics Tech so I was able to repair it the schematics for all Peavey Amps can be ordered online.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 34 Years.
Yes I'd buy another one, I like it because its small and portable and can be used for electric and acoustic electric and as a stage monitor.
But I do wish it had a line out jack I may investigate the possibly of modifying it and installing one myself.

Model Year 2000, made in China. 8 inch driver, 20 watt @ 4 ohm RMS with built in (fixed) compression. It's relatively light.
I'm a beginner bass player, so I don't need a gig amp, just a good practice amp. This Peavey delivers for that purpose. My bass is an ESP B-105 (5 string, passive pickups) and this amp gives fat rich tone with that bass, compression effect is mild and I think improves the sound. No problem with low B string sound either. Although I'm sure better, bigger amp will sound better.

Features, what features? It has pre-gain, low, mid and high. If the high pot is set past 1/3, the amp buzzez (then again it maybe my cheap cable). Also a headphone jack (which sounds excellent). No speaker or line in jack. I wish it had a CD line in so I can practice with CD player and headphone. The Fender Bassman has it but >$100 more

Powerwise it's enough. I tried the similar Crate, Hartke and Fender Frontman 25B. This one sounds the best IMHO. Loud enough for practice in mid size living room.

Sound Quality : 8
This amp doesn't have a whole variety of sounds. But what it has is very good and perfect for me. And don't let the size and power fools you, this amp goes deep and loud. I know because I'm an HT junkie.

Reliability : No Opinion
It's less than 3 months old and so far so good. I would use this for 2 acoustic guitar + bass gig maybe. Anything with a drummer probably too much for this little fellow.

Customer Support : 7
Warranty 3 years, which I think is a bit better than average.

Overall Rating : 9
This is all I have besides the bass and tuner. I'd buy it again if it's stolen after I beat up the guy. Pity Peavey don't allow internet shopping, I'm sure the price will be even lower. Even with the price I paid it's an excellent value.
