I bought this amp used in 1972, so I have no idea when it was made. I think at that point Randall was a small company. It has two channels, each with 2 of thier own inputs, hi and lo. Both channels sound the same so I have no idea whay they did that. Solid State combo with 2 15 inch speakers, closed back cab. Think it is rated 200 watts.

Sounds ok. Because of the closed back it can squash the sound a bit, but that can make for a nice compression if thats what you like. If you play with the master volume you can get some nice distortion out of it. but otherwise it stays clean and punchy. I will give it an 8 only because there is no such thing as a 10 as far as sound goes and I am not a fan of 15 inch speakers for bass.

As I said, bought this used in 72, so this thing has been brutalised from one end of this country to another, and it still keeps ticking, never had a problem with it ever.

This is why I am writing this. Sent an email to Randall (or whoever owns them now) asking for information on this unit, I have never seen another one like it and was curious when it was made. Never got a response. Even a "I dont know" would have been nice. Thanks you guys over at Randall. I have had this thing and used it for over 20 years, you might be a little bit appreciative of that little fact and written me back. But by not answering you turned a possible customer into a no way will I ever buy your stuff again customer.

I still use this thing for recording. Has a incredible HUGE recorded sound and not sure why lol. For live it's a bit too compressed for me. Doesnt have bells or whistles, tone controls arent very good, it just works and man has it worked for a long time now. would love to know the history of this guy. Too bad the folks at Randall are just too busy for musicians.
