The amp is new. Built 2005. Very versatile for a bunch of styles.
I play in a bluesband and in a rock band. The amp fits both styles fine.
Solid state and only one channel but it has a lot of effects and modeling bass styles. You can get the sound you want. A good thing for me is the great working compressor. It certainly has a lot of power though it is small. Plenty of headroom. It can do great at gigs at smaller venues and is perfect for studiojobs! It is silent, has got no fan!

I am using THE bass: American DeLuxe Jazz Bass made 2004. Extremely good instrument. It fits the little Roland perfectly and together they make my blues sound exactly as I wish. Round, full, bottom end heavy and growling, mids and trebles ccentuated and clean. You find no unwanted dist even if you crank the volume up! Thats often the test of quality. I usually set the bassknob at 2 o'clock and the mid/treble flat. Makes the best sound for me. Then I set the rest on my active bass. Test the style settings as you feel. It models great amps so this is a matter of choice. I think it a great practice amp as well as gigging amp at smaller venues, clubs, pubs and so forth.

In have depended on it so far and it seemes to be very well built. As all Roland products. I am pretty sure this one will hold many many years. It has never failed me. And I would be astonished if it did! Very dependable constuction. A massive litte box!

I haven't had any reason to contact Roland. I think I'll try with my dealer first if the unthinkable would happen!

I have been playing bass since 1980 when I joined the now legendary blues band Bluesblocket in Sweden. Since then I've been playing in a long row of different rock- and blues bands. So I have gone through a lot of guitars and amps. At larger gigs I play my Mesa Boogie Walkabout 300 watts that can break walls. But at smaller venues this little Roland is perfect. I compared it to Ampeg HP 115, 100 watt. And this one was better sounding, and cheaper! And lighter! I also compared it to the very cheap Korg amps, but those were no good at all!
I surely would buy another if it was stolen (god forbid!). I like the good fat sound, it's versatility and the light weight alike! The combination is awesome! There is nothing to hate. It can do it all and has the Roland perfection feel about it that I really like.

This amp weighs 12 Kg,is very portable, and is very comfortable to carry.
I mostly play with a fusion quartet and in medium room it play very well.
I play also with a ska-core band, and i played in opened ambient supported by amplification sistem, and it was most present.

It is very versatile. It works as a swr workingman's 15 combo, it is a little less powerful but with more medium frequencies.
A good sound.

Very good. At opened ambient,if it is supported by amplification system,it works very well.

I love his sound. It work as a hartke combo of 500 ? and his sound is beauty as a fafner ebs(it has a lot of medium frequencies but more high frequencies) drive excluded. It has a 4 band eq (bass mid-bass mid-high high), a bass and high enhancer, chorus, flanger, delay, reverb, octaver, and 7 types ou sound.
Very versatile, and the price is convenient.

Purchased used, not sure how old. Looks and sounds pretty much the same as a new one though, and has the same features as mentioned by other reviewers.
Best point was the 100 watts and a fairly efficient speaker. Seems to be loud enough for a low to medium volume cover band gig and for church gigs. Plus at 37 pounds it is light enough to carry in one hand while not being too light.
Amp syms are pretty good. The Bassman sym sold me on the amp. Once I got it home and plugged in my fretless I found that I like the sound of most all of them in one way or another, but the Bassman setting is the one I'll use. Effects can get a little hiss'y when maxed, not too bad though.

I'll be using mainly a ToneSmith 320 5 string fretless with this amp. Overall my bass sounds better than the ones I used when trying the amp in the store... or at least more familiar.
My trip to the music store was to try some higher end amps. I was looking for a light weight amp mainly for church gigs, but one thay could be used with the cover band I play in if needed. I started with Mesa, then Nemisis, Fender, etc. I tried the Cube 100 on a lark, expecting very little.
I was wrong. The amp sounded great. OK, I should clarify - sounded great to me, a guy who loves the sound of his 50 watt Bassman 10 and his Mesa Boogie Buser 2-10 combo. But those two amps are around 100 pounds each, and my back hates them as much as my ears love them.
At first I didn't care for the Ampeg setting. The Trace left me a little cold too, and the Concert 810 was OK. But the Bassman sound was close enough, and once home the others better started sounding better.

Unknown. Sales people at multiple stores say that these Cube series amps are very reliable. This used unit has some cosmetic damage, and seems to be doing just fine so far. We'll see.

I think the amp sounds great for the money, even at the full $450 retail new. It certainly sounded better than the other products I tried both in and above the price point. I've been playing for over 15 years, and I've used a lot of different gear. Peavey TKO-65, Fender M-80 Bass, SWR WM-10, Sunn 100 watt head, Hartke 5000, Fender Bassman 10 and Mesa Boogie Buster 2-10. If it were lost or stolen I'll probably replace it - it's a lot of features in a fairly light weight and compact package. At this point I'm keeping the Bassman, the Buster, and the Cube 100.

+ Bought in 2005
+ Decent tone control section.
- EFX (FX) section to radical but do not use it anyway.
- 1 channel (unfortunately as I really would need 2)
+ -10dB pad for those high output basses
+ Compressor quite useable if not set to the extreme.
+ COSM amp section offers quite interesting simulations but usually
I stay on SUPERFLAT and sometimes switch to SESSION.
+ Recording out/phones very practical.
+ Seperate LineOut, Tuner Out and Post/Pre...GND lift DI out
+ Power is decent and almost too much for home practicing though on
stage the D-class amp section does not always keep up. Anyway this
amp is sufficient for small bar gigs if not too crowded.

+ Using 2 active basses on it 4-string Phantom Mephisto I and a
5-string Peavey Millenium V AC BXP.
+ Amp is good for a variety of styles. Use it for funk and some
walking bass lines.
+ Electronics surprisingly quiet.
+ Don't care about distortion but cannot imagine a full transistorized
amp will do that good on such a low budget.
Reliability
:

+ Do not know about reliability but have used it quite often and it
can take a bank here and then and still plays very good.
+ In fact the first one shipped to me was completely busted as it must
have fallen on its backside mounted cable hinges. As these are
mounted on the amp shell it really knocked in all the metal and even
the pots very kind of displaced and the unit played fine. Of course
I received a new replacement.

quite ok and I never had problems with them.

+ Have been playing bass for quite a few years but stopped bandwork
some time ago (Work and kids and blabla...) Use this amp mostly
home and occasional very small gigs.
+ Had a whole lot of combos and seperate components and for now I
like this combo a lot. Even if I'd upgrade again would keep it as
a backup/home practice amp.
+ Thing is quite heavy but that contributes to its huge sound for such
a small box.
+ Considering its low price I see the amp being a very good value.

This is a 100 watt bass combo with plenty of features. It has COSM modelling of several amp set-ups, compression, modulation effects, T-Wah, Delay, Reverb, octaver. Speaker, headphone and line out including XLR with speaker emulation. Single channel. Gain, volume, four band tone controls. Only criticism of features is that some effects are mutually exclusive and there is little scope to change the degree of each effect - e.g. chorus, flanger and T-wah are on the same rotary control. But, for the money, it has an incredible range of features.

Using a new Jap made Fender Jazz bass. Primarily for practice and reherasals, but it will be used for small gigs and in worship settings - when the output will be supported by PA anyway. It has a wide range of tones and the main effects you could want, so it seems that you can create any classic bass set-up fairly easily. I am not usually playing all that loud, but for the sake of interest, did turn it up full, and the volume clearly has a ceiling - this wouldn't be enough on its own for a loud gigging band. Maybe an extension cab would make a difference? Anyway, that's not really what it's for.

It's well built, being of very substantial board. The controls do not really feel pro quality inthe way the old Japanse Roland stuff did (this is made in China), but I'm not intending to abuse it. The fact that it is well-made was something that attracted me to it. I haven't had it long enough to call its longevitiy, but I could see the controls wearing out and the cable tidy getting knocked off if this were gigged night in, night out. Again, for the price it is better made than average.

I have owned lots of Roland/Boss stuff and I would say reliability is a plus point. They support products with good manuals and so on. Roland is widely available in the UK where I live, so I would expect to get good service, though I don't expect to need it, which is better, really!

New to bass, having played guitar for years. I am not therefore an ideal tester as I haven't had much to compare it with, except guitar gear. It's a great amp, that would be better is Japanese made and with the suggestions I made above, but it would cost 50-100% more.
