This baby has everything u need if u are not a pro or semipro bass player. Solid state, tube emulator overdrive , chorus and compressor built-in ,2 memories to save ur favorite sounds ,2 jack entries , equalizer..A Definitive plus is the size :this combo is COMPACT , really portable its affordable handles . The sound is loud enough for studio and small and medium sized clubs (sometimes even too much !!!)

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Eko MM and an Ibanez EDB-600 and i play mostly a wide range of rock and metal styles .
U have to spent a little of time searching your right settings, but once u found them u may save it and recall by switch (not included) It sounds
very good to me : the bass tones are fat and loud and the middle ranges give u the presence u need to stand beetween distorted guitars. Compressoor and chorus are useful and sound good even if not at the level of a high price compact pedal. Tube distortion is warm and fat ,a good surprise for a solid state emulation

Reliability : 10
I use it regulary in studio and at the gigs , nwith any problem .
It stay well in my car ,in my room on little stages but that doesn't means it lacks of power ...

A Definitive GOOd DEAL!!! I've paid it 300 (Three hundreds)euros
(used)on EBAY , probably because Roland it' s not a brand known for bass amplification , but I'll buy it again !
I reccomend it to people who are not trend-setters or brand-dependers, but need a good amp with good features and compact size at a reasonable price.
Not for the beginners nor for the seasoned players (who usually have some well distinct preference for a sound or another after years of experience) ,the db-700 is for players who need versatility , good features and quality.

This amp has all the features i need, one of the best things about it is that you can save your favourite two settings and bring them up at the touch of a button. Its is very loud for its size and easy to transport.

Sound Quality : 10
I use an Ibanez SDGR Bass cant remember what model, its got bartolini pick ups anyway and sounds awesome through this amp. The guitarist in one of my bands says that the amp and bass sound like they were made for each other! Also, there has been numerous occasions when i have stepped off stage and musicians and non-musicians alike have said how amazing my bass sound is. I play in a pop rock band and an extremely heavy doom metal band and always use this amp. It sounds perfect for both, it is extremely versatile.

Reliability : 10
Never had it serviced in three years, ive stood on it, jumped off it, had beer spilt on it, its been rained on, kicked, cranked up to 10 and overheated and its still going! Working perfectly! Never had a problem with it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed it.

Overall Rating : 10
I cant think of anything negative to say about the amp, it has served me well. If it were stolen or lost i would be very upset but if it had to be replaced i would replace it with a cab and head of some form. If i ever wanted another combo though, i would without a doubt go for this one.

It's a well designed amplifier that, at first glance, offers everything a Bassist might need in a relatively compact combo. It's somewhat versatile, good for the typical pop, rock, jazz or country sounds.

Sound Quality : 6
I have a Warwick Thumb Bass with active electronics. My previous band did a lot of funk, jazz, and post rock inspired stuff, and it worked well in that context. Recently, I've been doing a project that this amp just doesn't seem to be cut out for. I can't get the right sound and when I get close, the damn thing peeks like crazy anytime distortion is engaged. We're playing Mogwai/Explosions in the Sky type rock, so distortion is a big part of the sound. Sad to say that this otherwise decent amp doesn't get the job done here. I amy need to get it repaired or something, because I've never had an issue like this before. Makes me think there's something wrong with it. I have owned it for nearly 5 years now.

Reliability : 8
Never had an issue here. I don't gig that regularly at the moment, but it's seen it's fair share of transport, and help up pretty well. two minor things... a screw on the back of the amp fell off and the nut on the inside fell into the amp. It was kind of annoying but the nut is out, and it hasn't effected the amps sound or performance. also, a knob broke and I haven't bothered to replace it. That's more a result of poor treatement than of poor craftsmanship I think.

Never had the pleasure

Been playing 12 years and this amp did the trick for 4 of them. I'm going to keep it because I'm sure that the sounds it's good for will come in handy again someday, but for now, I've purchased an Ashdown ABM C210 575watt combo. I think the 210 config, and more headroom will be better for the style of music I'm doing :-)

The worlds first digital bass amp!!. This thing really rocks and has really all the goodies one needs as a gigging bassist. It has 3 types of standard bass amp sounds. Solid State, Tube and Tube Drive. You can teak these till the cows come home with the gain knob. You have the usual bass eq section with sweepable mids. A good sounding compressor and a chorus feature. It's relatively light weight compared to other cabs that provide this much volume and it's built like a tank. Comes with caster for weasy transporting and you can tilt it and use it as a monitor on stage by taking off the back set of casters.

Sound Quality : 10
Great sounds abound from this thing. Solid state is dry and tight, tube is warm and fat, tube drive is grinding in your face fuzz. You can shape it pretty well anyway you want. Definitely a great sound combo amp. This baby will play at volumes that are almost insane for a single 1x15 combo. Theirs no need to eat brain here as this amp will help you stay regular with it's beefy bottom at surprisingly loud volumes.

Reliability : 10
With all Roland products it's been a good friend. I have not had any issues at all with this puppy after 2 years use.

Customer Support : 10
Never had to use Rolands customer service, but they have a good rep so they get a 10. Warranty is 3 years parts and labour.

A bitchin' combo amp that put the other so called bass amp manufacturers to shame!!.

COSM amp modeling enables DB-700 users to select from Solid State, Tube and Tube Drive bass preamp models and modeled tube compression for getting just the right tone. The tube-style compression gives the DB-700 a tight, punchy sound even with pop and slap-style playing, and can be applied to high frequencies only with the Shape switch.

Gain Knob, Volume Knob, Compression Knob, Shape Switch A high-quality DI connector (XLR-type) is included for direct connection to PA systems, while additional XLR and phone line outs for recording.

Foot switch can be used to turn on/off the chorus or switch between program memories. The Chorus is made especially for bass; you get the swirl without losing the bottom. I like the recessed handles.

No tuner out, but you can use the headphone out if need be as it cuts the speaker once the tuner is plugged in.

Sound Quality : 10
I wanted versatility, power, and a small size. I got all three with the Roland DB700 bass combo. This little baby is rock solid and has a vast array of tones that are simply wonderfully fat. Even the solid state mode is great sounding. Clean and tight would best describe it. The tube mode is warm, full and fat. The tube drive is just that, drive that can sound like an SVT at high ear splitting volumes. This amp is loud!!, very loud!!. I have no problem being heard over a very loud drummer and a the classic 2 guitar attack. This baby competes with the Bogner and Mesa nicely and doesn't cost any were near as much. Hell I don't even need to worry about changing any tubes, it's great!!.

Reliability : 10
As with any Roland product, it's been rock solid. In fact it's been the only bass amp that I have not had to take in for repairs for one thing or another. I've had Peavey, SWR, Hartke and Ampeg in exactly that order within a 15 year span and they all calved at one point and time. Roland make reliable products and they stand by them. My old Roland cube worked great for years before I finally parted with it. I find it a little strange that a company who doesn't really specialize in just bass amps, seems to make the most innovative and most reliable ones. Where's the logic in that?.

Customer Support : 10
I've never had to use them and probably will never have to. However I've only heard good things about their product support from other musicians.

Overall Rating : 10
At 77 lbs. is not really a feature weight, but it's certainly not a back breaker either. This amp really can cover it all and is really all you'd ever need to play most clubs. Small medium or large, it could handle it easily and it'll fit in the front seat of your car. Oh and again, this is one bloody loud combo!!!.

This is an 8 month follow up review to my earlier review. Still love the tone, power and package, but reliability becomes the issue here. The features are a solid 9, but still wished it had detachable power cord, and more than 2 memories.

Sound Quality : 10
The sounds are still amazing. The 250 watts sounds like 350 easily, and the 1x15 is easily as loud as any 2x15 or 4x10 out there. Cleaner too-thanks to the feed forward processing.

Reliability : 4
6 months into ownership it started making weird sounds like an active bass w/a dead battery. After a few minutes it would come back on, w/out any problems. I figured it was the heat protection circuit kicking in. This is Texas afterall, and 100 degree heat while traveling in the back of a car can have an effect. Seemed logical anyways. Two months later I'm playing a gig and it pulls this stuff, then cuts out completely. Great! I'm stuck there at a gig w/a 75 pound pet rock. No sound--nothing---even though the power lights are on. Thank gog for my DI box and my little 30 watt beater. Had to use my little 30-watter as a monitor while we ran the bass out through the PA. Roloand did stand behind their warranty when I took it to an authorized service center (Thank G*d I saved my receipt---that's the catch on these warranties.) 5 Weeks later I get it back, and they had to completely replace the power board and display assemblies on an 8 month old amp. Sounds great again for now. Lesson---don't ever play w/out backup, and save that receipt.

Customer Support : 9
Roland was very helpful, as was my authorized service center. They expedited the order as fast as possible, but 10 days was lost to UPS sending it back and forth to the factory. By the way folks----the shipping is on you when it goes out to the factory, but they pick up the tab shipping it back. I am glad to have this wonderful sounding amp back, but I'm always going to be a little bit wary of it from now on. The Warranty is for 3 years which is very good, I just hoped I'd never need it. My crappy sounding old Peavey's never did this to me.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing almost thirty years now. I've played many many amps--Ampeg, Polytone, Peavey,SWR, Traynor, etc....These amps sound amazing, and if you read my earlier review you'll see why I chose it over many others. It is unfortunate that Roland's quality control is not what it used to be. Up until two years ago I still had an old Roland Cube that had given 20 years of Exceptional trouble free service. If this amp were lost or stolen it is very possible that I might buy another, but I'd sure think about it long and hard.

Purchased Oct 2002 (1 year ago).

I'm a guitarist drafted into the bass position, so over the last year I've had a bit of an experience trying to discover what "my sound" will become. The Roland has a wide variety of tonality, and it is *really* nice that it provides two footswitch-enabled programmable presets. I'm still playing around with the tones and I haven't yet plumbed the depths of this amp's options. The amp provides chorus, compression and even overdrive (although it's a bit growly for my taste, so I really don't use it). It has solid state and tube modeling for amp sounds. I generally use the tube model, but I could see how solid state would give a nice clean sound to something like an upright bass.

The 250 Watts is powerful enough for even pretty large gigs. We played a outdoor venue with 400 or so people and it provided perfect stage volume. I was running through the main PA as well, but not that loudly. The Roland has a nice punch even for only 250W. If you tend to run a hot stage level, it might not cut through as nicely with a 4x10 with a more powerful head, but at those levels you'll start damaging your hearing over time. You're better off turrning your stage volume down and relying on the mains. I have even played smaller gigs with no PA other than vocals, and it was sufficient to that task as well.

The best part is really its size. These days you need a SUV to cart around most bass rigs. This amp fits in the front or back seat of a 2 or 4 door vehicle. It's heavy, but can be lifted by a single person fairly easily.

Sound Quality : 9
My bass is a no-name Fender J-bass knockoff with the pickups replaced by active EMGs and a Badass bridge. We play modern rock in the style of bands like BNL, Gin Blossoms, Lenny Kravitz... It suits me well. As I mentioned before, the chorus, compression, pre-amp shapes, and overdrive provide a wide variety of tones good for any style of music one might want to play, from swing to metal. It's an extremely versitile amp.

Reliability : 5
I wanted to give it a decent rating here, because I do like the amp, but I just can't.

Late this summer, when it was less than a year old, some capacitors in the amp burned out. It was having all kinds of trouble leading up to that (probably as they were going). It would cut out in the middle of the gig, and then come back unexpectly if it were allowed to "rest" for a while. There were a number of other odd symptoms. Anyway, I eventually took it to the dealer and luckily it has a darn good warranty (3 years - parts/labor). Thankfully we have a good soundman who can give me enough bass through the monitors for me to hear.

There is another problem I can see this amp potentially having. The nuts that secure the input/headphone jacks onto the chassis are made of cheap plastic. I've had a couple of them break arleady, and I am NOT hard on my equipment. I baby it. The plastic just seems to crack easily. Anyway, without the nuts on those jacks, the amp is very vulnerable. Any inward pressure on an unsecured jack could cause the circuit board inside to crack.

Even though the cabinet portion of the amp appears to be good solid construction, it seems like Roland cut corners to keep cost down. No detachable power cord. Plastic nuts. The push switches don't look very heavy duty. Who knows what else on the inside.

Customer Support : 6
Customer support is both good and bad. I took it to an authorized dealer for the service I needed, but I didn't have the original reciept (keep it safe, kids!). What I did have was my Visa statement that showed the purchase. They honored my warranty with just the Visa bill. Kudos on that. The warranty is also 3 years for parts and labor on all their amps. Double kudos. The parts are so back-ordered, they're going to take 8 weeks to get, so I've been without my amp since late Aug/Sep. Booooo!

Luckily, I have a friend with a 4x10 I've been able to borrow. Another shop has the capacitors I need for $80. It'd be nice if Roland offered to cover that cost instead of making me wait over 2 months for theirs to come in. The fact that the part is so back-ordered leads me to believe that Roland has other customers with the same capacitor problem.

Good warranty, but be prepared to wait. I've talked with many musician friends telling me that's par for the course with Roland. They're always slow with parts.

Overall Rating : 6
Would I buy another? The answer is a definite maybe.

I like the fact that it produces so many tones. I love that it's small, portable and fairly powerful for its size. I like that it's fairly inexpensive for the features you get. But I'm a little hesitant to say yes.

Perhaps I was just one of the unlucky ones that got bad capacitors, but you know how hard it is to overcome that feeling when something like this happens and you have to wait forever to get it fixed. It's frustrating and you tend not to trust the brand again.

The fact that it was less than a year old and I'm out an amp for over 2 months outweighs a lot of the good points.

I have waited to play live in different occasions before to write this review. Many people write reviews 10 minutes after they receive or buy stuff just to say "what I bought is good" or "that's the best"...

Sound Quality : No Opinion
This amplifier is all a bass player can ask, truly! It is LOUD, reliable, easy to transport and also good looking...
The sound? Well, let's say that 80% depends on the signal you present at its input (I am talking about your bass/hands), it reproduces all the spectrum with punch and transparency.

Reliability : No Opinion
I think this baby is though. The only thing you have to be very careful is the power cord as it is fixed. Be sure you have safely wrapped it and locked somewhere before to lift the thing...
Falling off the stairs while carryng this baby because of the cord between your feet can be very very dangerous as its weight is 35Kg!

Brand New--Factory Fresh 2003. See thge other reviews for features. @ memories ain't a lot, but it works for me. The Compression really works. Be careful or you'll squash the sound. This knob is not the useless toy it is on most other amps. The Mid Knob and Frequency knobs in the Shape section will help you find an abundance of useable sounds.

Sound Quality : 10
This amp will get you tons of different sounds. The fact that you can begin with any one of three different modes to start off with before you indulge in the veritable tweak fest available to you should say something. How wide is the variety. Thanks to the two programmable memories I am able to hit two completyely different sides of the sound spectrum---one for electric 5-string, and one for 5-string Upright and all at the tap of a switch. No more standing there having to F^## with a bunch of knobs every time I switch instruments. Some gigs I have to switch between electric and upright almost every other tune. This amp makes it very easy. Electric tone in memory A I have programmed between an old SVT Stack and Black -Face Fender Bassman Sound. Memory B for the Upright I've managed to dial in a cross between a Polytone Mini-Brute, and an old Ampeg Flip-Top. This amp is dead quiet too. If you want distortion you can dial it in via-tube-drive mode. It sounds very close to the real thing, it's just not my cup of tea.

Reliability : 10
This thing is stout. I just don't go to any gig withoiut a backup. My backup amps, however, are two direct boxes. Sans Amp for electric, and Paracoustic for Upright. If this amp blew up or failed on a gig, I'd be shocked. Do you know how many 20 and 30 year old Roland Cube amps are still out there gigging night after night? If I had to go without a backup, I am certain that I would feel safer with this amp than any of the others I have owned. It is one strong little dude.

Customer Support : 9
All I've done so far is mail in my warranty. It's a good warranty, 3 Years, and Roland has an excellent reputation.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing over 20 years now. I play all styles--country-jazz-rock-funk-and praise and worship music too. This amp pushes a lot more air than its 250 watts RMS rating would have you believe. For a combo this amp is unbelieveable. I have played many different brands in the past. Peavey-SWR-Eden-Gallien Krueger--etc...This is the answer for those of us who play both electric and upright, and don't have the bucks for a Walter Woods. I tried Acoustic Image, and it was great for the Upright, but left my electric sounding a little flat. Swr and Edens were great for the electric, but had a bunch of phony mids that gave the upright a boxy sound which could not be dialed out of the Upright's Sound at any setting. (Despite what the bass magazines who sell add space to these guys try to tell you.) I wish it had a detachable cable and 4 or 5 more memories in its capacity. If someone tried to steal this amp I would blast them with my cosmic death ray device. If that failed to work, short of having Scotty beam another one aboard, I am certain that I would buy another one. Especially at this bargain basement price. A real steal.

Digital Bass Combo with COSM Amp Simulation and FFP. 250 W Output. This Amp is louder than any other Amp i've played through with 250 or even 300 W. The 3-band EQ with semiparametric midrange is quite versatile. The compressor is qood, the build in chorus is ok too. The amp doesn't sound "digital". The only 3 problems are that the power cable is not removable, and that the wheels have no brake, so you've got to remove the wheels on the stage. You can only store 2 settings a time - not too much for a digital combo! Thatswhy i rate it only 8!

Sound Quality : 10
I'm playing a custom made passive Jazzbass with Bartolini Pickups and a Warwick Fortress active PJ. Both sound very clear through the amp. I usally play Rock and Funk style. This amp brings the sound of the Bass very natural, SWR and Eden colores the tone a little bit. You should not expect to buy this amp and it makes a cheap bass sound like a Musicman. The amp is very quit, even at high levels. It doesn't distort in the clean mode. The distortion of the tube-overdriven channel is too much in my opinion, but maybe usefull for metal or something like that. For a combo with only 250 W and 15" Speaker is the sound amazing.

Reliability : 9
This amp is build like a russian tank. If the caster wheels had a brake it would be perfect. I never use a backup, and it was never nessecary. Because it has no vacuum tubes you have not to replace expensive parts. I guess i will play through this amp quite a long time.

I never had problems, so i heave never dealt with roland.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm playing bass for 4 years and guitar for about 8 years. I have already played through an Ampeg SVT II, and Eden VT.40 Amplifier + SWR Goliath, a SWR Baby Blue and tried an Line 6 Bass Pod. The DB-700 is not the best sounding, but the most versatile amp. It is a combo that makes it very easy to move around, and sounds like a good amp with a 4*10 speaker cabinet. It is loud enough for club gigs up to 300 people. I would buy it again. It is the same price range like a Warwick CCL and a the big Hughes & Kettner combo, but has much more value for the same money.

Features : 10
The DB-700 is a 250 watt amp with a 15" driver and a horn tweeter, although is powerful enough to take on a 400 watt 4x10" cab. The main reason I bought this amp is not for power, but because unlike other amps that have their own tone colorations from amp to amp, this amp brings out the true tone of my basses. I still have yet to make it distort, even at high volumes with a lot of bass. There's a "power injection" LED that lights green when approaching peak levels, and lights yellow when you're hitting peak levels of the internal amplifier. Even then, there's no distortion.

Although the DB-700 doesn't change my tone much, it gives me many variations from solid state and tube models and a very nice gain control that gives me a nice growl. I never use the over driven tube amp model, it just has too much distortion for my tastes. The compression works very well with slapping, and also gives me a little more punch. There is a 3 band EQ on board that features a semiparametric midrange control. The bass control on the EQ doesn't seem to give the amp credit to how much bass it can handle. Other controls are a "shape" button that alters the range of which the entire EQ varies, built in "D-chorus" effects which I personally don't use any effects, and a 2 memory bank where you can save settings, but I don't use it much either.

Input/Output stuff:
The top of the amp features the usual passive/active inputs and a headphone jack (yah right). On the back is a balanced XLR DI with a ground lifting switch for direct sound from the bass, send, return, XLR balanced line out, a balanced 1/4" TRS line out, and two foot switch jacks for switching banks on and off and for chorus. You can connect up to 3 foot switches total simutaneously: Switch memory A/B banks, switch Manual control on/off, and to switch chorus on and off. Note that for the send/return loop, the controls on the amp process the input *after* the return jack, whatever is put in there.

I'd rate it a 9.5 for its power capability, cleanliness, ease of use, and options. Although no external speaker options, this amp has loads of power.

Sound Quality : 9
The amp is very versatile as I said. The first thing you might notice when looking at the amp for the first time is it has three controls that alter the volume. Gain, volume, and the master do this. Having a separate volume for the DSP (EQ, gain, amp, effects, all of this) means you can change the volume of the send jack, while still being able to control the volume of the power amp itself with the master when using the return jack. Also, the volume control is saved in the memory banks, while the master is the only control which is not. That way, you can change the volume of the patch with the volume control (which is saved with each patch), and use the master to alter the volume of the amp (which is independent and not saved).

The gain control gives me a nice "crunch" and growl when in solid state mode (but doesn't sound too good with too much gain), and a subtle to very noticeable driving growl in tube mode.

I use this amp with a G&L L-2500 and a soon-to-be fretless Fender HM. The G&L gets some pretty growly tones from humbucking, and a sweet attack with single coil mode. The HM is very mellow when using the neck p/u only, and the bridge pickups get very bright and sharp tones.

The amp is very quiet, even if I have a crappy zoom 506 hooked up and the volume all the way up, hardly any 60Hz buzzing at all. There is no fan, the cooling for the power amp is done by a large 3/4" high heatsink mounted on the chassis vertically on the back. It provides about 230 inches of cooling area, and does not pose as an obstruction at all.

I rate it a 9 because, even though it sounds pretty good, some times the sounds, especially in solid state mode, can sound slightly sterile and cold.

Reliability : 9
I'd never break the thing. It's very tough, and Roland put in a little extra thought to do this. The speaker and tweeter are protected by a 14 or 12 gauge or so chrome grill, which is held in by 8 screws. The driver is held in by 10 screws that are set by this red superglue stuff that I see in precision optics a lot. The removable casters are about 3" in diameter, and the wheels are pretty tough plastic on steel bearings. There is a handle on each side for moving, and a handle on top, which is to me, a joke. The power cord is about 8 feet long, and my only complaint is that it is neither removable nor does it have a cord wrap. The cord is fixed to the amp, and comes with a cheap reusable plastic tie that *usually* locks and keeps the cord coiled. For an amp at this price, it should be removeable or something.

Also, although the pots and jacks are all soldered to the circuit board and bolted to the chassis, they are bolted with cheap plastic nuts. I havent broken any, but seen several DB-700s with broken nuts.

I rate it a 9, because the cord isn't removeable, and the carpeting on the exterior is a little thin, but otherwise built like a tank, one that weighs 75 pounds.

Customer Support : 9
I bought this amp "non-factory sealed", which means it was never used and is new, yet may have been handled at a store or at the factory. I bought it from Zzounds for about $600. They also had, at the time, a "regular" stock DB-700 for about $700, and a "blemished" stock for $500. Mine *did* come with a blemish, however. There is a small hole in the front left edge side of the cabinet wood itself, in the middle. The hole is about 1/4" deep and 1/4" in diameter, not a big gripe for me. I called them up and they took 20% off for this, about $120, not bad.

After plugging it in, the amp made a very noticable high frequency rattling in the tweeter. My first suspicion was that it was blown or something, but it happened intermittently. Also, it got worse as the low EQ was turned up, not as the treble was turned up, so then I suspected a loose wire. I took it in to the HOG (house of guitars, they are an authorized Roland repairer) and they told me 10 days max if they needed to get parts. Turned out to take a little longer than a month, and all it was was a loose wire on the crossover. When I got it back, the master control knob was broken. I switched it with the d-chorus and superglued the broken one on the d-chorus, because I don't really use chorus that much.

Overall I got a pretty nice amp for $480 total cost, free shipping from Zzounds, too. The time was worth it, I didn't need the amp in an emergency, and the hole doesn't bother me (I yet have to get some wood filler out).

I have several Roland/Boss products besides this amp, including a recording console and a parametric stomp box. Never contacted Roland before. Never had problems, and Roland is pretty reputable with their construction, but quality checking could be better.

NOTE: the warranty for the DB-700 is 3 years parts and labor, 1 year speakers.

I've gone through 4 basses and played the bass for about 3 years now, and I play several other instruments as well, and I'm in three bands. The DB-700 is definitely a great combo with a lot of power. When shopping, I compared it to several Ampeg, Hartke, Gallien Krueger, Mesa Boogie, and Fender amps, and this one was the most powerful for the money and sounded the best.

If you're looking for a larger combo (this is one of the largest combos you can buy) with no crappy coloration with a smooth bottom end and a lot of edge, this is the amp for you. If you don't think you want to lift 75 pounds by yourself, see if you can try out a DB-500. Same power amp and features, but not as much power, and a 12" speaker in a sealed cabinet, not ported like the DB-700. 5-stringers should definitely invest in the DB-700, however.

Extremely versatile. Simulates tube or transistor amps.
Great built in chorus and distortion and 3 band parametric EQ and compression.

The distortion won't get that death mid-scoop fuzz, but has a great tube grind to it, very natural sounding distortion.

My only major complaint is this amp can store ONLY 2 setting at a time. So many great sounds are capable with this thing but no storage. Hopefully Roland will fix this in the near future.

Sound Quality : 9
I am using this amp with a Music Man Sterling bass. With this I have no need for other amps or basses.

I personally dont use the 3 band eq on the amp. I do all my EQing from the bass. I can get anything from choppy punk trebly pick sounds to warm fat mellow sounds. I love the chorus. The chorus can go from very subtle to swirly intense sounds.

I honestly can't tell the amp is digital, mabye you can but I can't, but who cares as long as it gets good sounds right?

Very durable. Its kinda heavy though

never needed

I think the price I paid for it was a little too much. You could probably find one for around $700 - 800 new now. I love its features but I hate that us has only 2 memory spaces. Hopefully they will improve this in a future version. Loud, clean beautiful sounds are capable with this thing.
