The amp was made in 2008, I had it for about a year (bought brand new from a shop). Played MM Stingray 5 and Ibanez BTB405 through it. Features are very impressive, lots of different sounds to dial, I would be surprised if one of these sounds isn't "your one". The amp is very light and can easily be handled by one person.
There are three modes available: "Super Flat", which supposed to reproduce the native sound of your bass (does the job nicely), "Vintage" (tube-like sound) and "Modern" (someone referred to "Eden-ish" sound, which is the closest probably). Quite a few tonal control with separate knob for the tweeter (you'll need it - read next section why). Also has effects loop with mixer knob to adjust wet/dry balance, tuner out and Line Out/DI output (switchable). Dual inputs for piezo and normal pickups and a switch to change input sensitivity between passive and active basses.
In a nutshell it has all the features I will ever need. It is rated at 330W with 15-inch driver and a tweeter, which _in_theory_ should be plenty for reahearsing with a drummer and two guitarists.

Well...here is where the problems start. The amp performs quite well at low volumes. Very well actually. I did some recording via Line Out and came out quite impressive, so the preamp does nice modelling. The tweeter hisses like a mad snake though, so it is kinda useless and it would be better if it just wasn't there; thanks God for the extra knob. Unfortunately the tweeter accounts for 80W out of the total 330W, so in theory you're left with 250W. In theory. I got kinda suspicious reading the specs where it said the power consumption was 92W. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I just cannot imagine how you can squeeze 330W RMS from 92W power input. I know that marketing spin doctors can bend physics, but not to that degree.
It necessarily follows that the amp isn't even nearly as loud as you would expect from 330W with a 15-inch speaker. I have real issues keeping up with the drummer. At volume at about 2 o'clock it starts distorting badly and that's basically the end of the road. The vintage mode is unusable at those volumes, the modern and super-flat sound better, but the whole box basically sounds like a beehive.
So it is a nice practice and perhaps recording amp, but with realistic power output at around 80W it just isn't enough in any live situation.

I like Roland gear and have pleny of it. Unfortunately manufacturing in China doesn't do it any good. The amp is very lightweight, appears solid, but after about 2 hours of playing at higher volume the cabinet developed some sort of a buzz/rattle, which is a sign of things being flimsy in my opinion. Nothing broke down as yet though, but I would be very nervous having to be solely dependent on it.

I have dealt with Roland/Boss support with regards to other equipment and they always have been very good. I got the response quickly an my questions were answered.

I've been playing for about 7 years in total, mostly rock and alternative. Puchased this amp because of its features and light weight. Unfortunately because of its pathetic power handling it does not stand up to be a live equipment and 1200 AUD for a practice amp seems excessive. Also for that price you could probably get a better DI with a preamp, so it is not really a recording thing either.
Anything I wish it had? The promised 330W! Where are they?
If this amp were stolen I wouldn't replace it. Actually I am in the market for something else and intend to keep this one as a backup. I don't expect it to have any considerable resale value.

This amp was made in 2008. It is extremely versatile. It has a single channel, and has all the features you could want for any style of playing. I use it with the DB115X extension speaker, and the sound quality and features are excellent.

I am playing a Sadowsky J bass through this amp. I can play almost any style (at least all the styles I've tried it with) through this amp -- from jazz to rock to pop to country. It's all there. It can get a beautiful clean sound. It does not break up at high levels. I can't imagine a better sound.

I've been playing guitar and bass for 35 years. I have a bachelor's and master's degree in guitar performance (classical guitar), and I have played many styles professionally. If this amp was stolen, I would definitely get a new one. I also like Aguilar gear, but I find this amp easier to dial in the sound I want, and it's a combo to boot!

300+ watt combo amp with 15" driver plus piezo tweeter. Two inputs, one for piezo and one for regular basses. The regular input has a button for active and passive basses. There is also a gain control. Has modeling built in for super flat, vintage (B15), and modern (Eden-ish) tones. Shape button changes sound on vintage and modern settings. There is also a built in compressor with solid state or tube emulation. Good subtle EQ with bass, midrange, midrange freq, treble, and separate tweeter knob. There is also an effects loop with a blend control and good DI out.

I generally stick with the Super Flat setting with a bit of tube compression. The EQ is left flat as I haven't found much of a reason to change it. With these settings the basses I use just sound natural and clear. There is very little coloration added to the tone. If I need to change the tone I generally use the controls on the bass or sometimes a Yamaha NE-1 preamp before it. I've used the modern and vintage settings some but I love the super flat for some reason. The amp is louder than I'll ever need.

Mainly used for rehearsals which last several hours minimum. No problems yet. The amp weighs about 50 lbs or so and it easy to move. It has removable castors too. It would be nice if it came with a cover though.

I was looking for a light powerful combo and I am very pleased with this amp. I was considering a walkabout or a markbass but the versatility, price, and the super flat setting won me over. Its simple and it sounds great. I would love to try the 210 version with the extension cabinet.

This is a new combo model from Roland. I have used other Roland gear and when I saw the Richard Bona and Alain Caron were endorsing this line of amps I wanted to try one. It is a one channel amp that is very versatile. I play Jazz, Fusion, R&B and Rock. I never use the Piezo input because I don't have a Piezo-equipped bass. I use this for rehearsals, recording and small to medium-sized gigs. It is quite loud for it's size and as with many combo amps, for a bigger gig you can just go into the house and use it as a monitor.

I am using a custom-made PJ style bass and a Fender precision with this amp. both basses are passive. It is a *very* quiet amp! This makes it superb for home practice. What another reviewer stated is true: this amp has has super-fast response and it makes a big difference in feel. as long as the input gain is set correctly, this is a clean sounding amp.

This amp is truly a blessing when it come to the feature needed in a bass amp. Pickup this up in 2007 and it's the best amp I ever owned. The amp can put out any styles you're looking for from a deep lows to sweet highs. The amp has two input, one is for pizzo input. I use this amp at all my gigs which are med size. Great on the back because it very light.

I use a Yamaha T1005 with Bart's pickup and a Bart preamp. I play Gospel and this amp can handle the best. No need to carried that 4/10 cab around. The amp is very quiet. The Roland has 3 main sound setting. The amp can handle very high sound without distortion but I never had to trun it up that loud. I rate this amp a 10.

This amp has everything I need and nothing that I do not.For a detailed list of features see Rolands web site. Onboard compressor is great and the tube emulation is fantastic. The line out and xlr di out are very quiet and provide an excellent signal. I have had many compliments on the quality of sound.

You name it and this amp has that sound covered. Awesome bottom end, beautiful mids and the tweeter is sweet and controlable.I use a 1975 Fender Jazz, a Peavey t40, but my favourite bass with this amp is an old Ibanez Silver Series Jazz bass. The versatility of this amp is amazing.I looked at many combos before aquiring my d-bass,the closest in sound quality was the Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout, but it lacked in features comparably. I truly have found 'THAT TONE' in the d=bass amp.

I have been playing for 42 years. This amp comes with casters, handles on top and sides, is relatively light in weight and has that tone we have all been looking for. If lost or stolen I would go right out and get another. Now that I have gotten used to this superb tone I would be lost without it. I have played large and small and outside venues with this unit an diy excelled at them all. Plenty of power
