Hello,
I just got an SWR 12 Stack 4 x 12" Cabinet, used in good condition for $350. Missed my Sunn 412S Cabinet so I got this. Will get another one as soon as one is available on the Used Market. Nice tight punchy bass, no-nonsense cabinet without the trademark SWR tweeter. I also own a pair of SWR Goliath III 4 x 10" cabinets.
Slightly "fatter" sound than the Goliath III. I run them with tweeters turn OFF. Nice Marshall style inset handles and like the Goliath III, removable casters. Makes my ears ring. Loud enough.
Gets the "FANE" HiWatt sound with my Sunn Model T(4 x 6550 tubes).
Great box of 12"s.

Loud, clear punchy bass. There are Harmonics that only my 18" equipped Acoustic 301 cabinets can reproduce and this SWR 12 stack can also do this. Amazingly my JBL K-140's and 10" P.A.S. speakers do NOT do this as well. I can hear the harmonics about +3dB louder than other cabinets mentioned. So if you like a bright sound check these out.

I own currently 3 SWR cabinets and have never had a problem. They were all bought used, in Very good condition. I generally bring 2 cabinets and 2 amps to most venues. Just in case.

Veteran bassist, played for 38 years. If stolen, yes I would procure another one. Wish I could find another one. I compared it to the Aguilar 412, but never saw a used one and since I have 10"s, 15"s and 18"s this spoiled brat wanted 12"s...got 'em. Need 2 of these, can't fly on one wing. as for equipment owned, well here goes:
Sunn Coliseum Bass Amp
Sunn Coliseun Lead Amp
Sunn Concert Bass Amp
Sunn Model T Amp
Sunn 200S Cabinet with K-140's
Sunn 215S Cabinet with K-140's
Sunn 215S Cabinet with K-140's
Acoustic 370 Amplifier
Acoustic 370 Amplifier
Acoustic 301HB Cabinet
Acoustic 301HC Cabinet
Acoustic 140 Amplifier
Acoustic 406 Wide Cabinet
SWR Goliath III Cabinet
SWR Goliath III Cabinet
SWR 12 Stack Cabinet
and yes it is all paid for and operational and of course I am a spoiled brat.
BTW got basses also. I was an "OX" wannabee and a JPJ/Jaco wannabee.

This is one of the few modern bass cabinets housing four 12" bass speakers. It is rated at 800 watts and has no tweeter (so if you're a bassist who always dials down the tweeter volume to zero, this is a nice feature). The cab has both dual Speakon?? and 1/4" speaker jacks, removable casters, side inset handles, heavy-duty black or oxblood Tolex covering, chrome grill on the black tolex cab (black grill on the oxblood cab), front slot port. Impedance is 8 ohms.

I'm playing a Rickenbacker McCartney 4001 re-issue bass and a Conklin 5-string in a hard-rock band that plays mainly originals but also some covers (STP, Van Halen, Rush, etc.). I run my SWR 750X through a 12-stack, and it's perfect for aggressive in-your-face bass that cuts through the mix. I have no trouble being heard even though both guitarists in my band are cranked through their 100-watt Marshall half-stacks (in larger clubs the sound guys usually insist on augmenting my sound through the P.A., so I don't have to kill members of the band on stage). The 12-stack has tons of headroom, but can give my basses sufficient growl for songs that require it. It also really accents the additional tone tweaks I send from my Line6 bass pod (e.g. more mids, distortion, chorus). It's plenty loud, but if you're looking for super-clean super-low end sound, this is not the cab for you. Recall the old-school tone and volume of late 60's/early 70's bassists like Jack Bruce, Dick Peterson of Blue Cheer, (or any bassist whose rig consisted of 4x12 cabs), and you'll have an idea of what the 12-stack sounds like.

This thing is built like a tank. I've used it extensively for years and never had any kind of problem.

I don't know how reliable SWR's tech support is, as I have never had a reason to contact them.

I've been playing bass since the late 60's, so when SWR offered the 12-stack, I was grateful for the opportunity to replace my ancient Hiwatt 4x12 cabinet whose speakers had finally worn out. The combination of the 12-stack with my SWR 750X bass amp head and Rickenbacker produces an authentic early Geddy Lee tone better than my original Hiwatt/SVT rig. The 12-stack also gives my 5-string a massive thundering sound. I have always loved the vintage bass tones such as Cream and early Deep Purple, and as far as I've been able to determine, SWR is the only company that has made a cabinet like this since the mid-70's. For some odd reason, SWR no longer makes the 12-stack. If mine were lost or stolen, I would definitely search the used market for another. Otherwise, I would have to keep an eye on eBay for old Hiwatt, Sound City, or Marshall bass cabinets.

Made in 2002. This is a Very Basic Cabinet. It Features four twelve inch speakers and no tweeter. Its about time that a high these companies figured out that not everyone likes tweeters. Anyway, this cab features 800 watts. and it pummels. This cab is exactly what anyone that plays loud rock, metal, or punk would ever want. Its light, loud and looks SWEET. I only give the cab an 8 for features because its a pretty specialized configuration. Its a great meeting place between tens and fifteens. Oh yeah and SWR hasnt figured out that their caster design sucks yet. why i dont know.

I play a 77 Fender Jazz bass and a 76 Fender p bass. I use this with a Mesa boogie buster 200, and a Sunn beta bass. Both sound awesome. I go for a real thick 70's geezer butler/JP Jones sound. And this cab DEVLIVERS THAT TONE ON A PLATTER. I also didnt have much trouble getting a pop punk punchy tone, or a bubbly jazzy tone either. I havent got it to distort yet. and i tried...trust me.

Ive had this cab for about 4 months, and shes been around the block alreaday. (i am in a heavy gigging band). ive been trying to take a little better care of this cab due to its amazing looks, but it doesnt take much to keep it safe its built like a tank. I think its made of birch, and the grill is the same material as all SWR cabs, Although this isnt a silly looking chrome. its black. i feel this cab could take a short flight out of the moving van and sound better that night.

ive called SWR a few times about other things, and they have ALWAYS been really helpful. They are a great company (too bad most of their stuff sounds like crap) Only if they would figure out that TUBES are where its at.

Ive been in the vintage amp game for about 4 years, and this has been the best cab ive ever had. (i have tried everything). The only cab that i think competes with this is a 69 ampeg SVT 8x10, and i had that. my back thanks me for getting rid of that fridge.
This cab is exactly what i was looking for. and the price is very reasonable. The only downside is the cheap casters they put on these things. If anyone has any questions about this cab feel free to email me or IM me @ chewinghoneybees
