good sounding amp, i could always find a good tone with it, only complaint is that when i started to play with drummers is wasnt' loud enough(but thats alright its only 30 watts). After you turn the knob past halfway it just distorts, doesn't really get louder.

worked great for about a year(thats how long the warranty lasts) then one day i plug in and i can barely hearit. I turn it up and it doesn't get any louder all of a sudden it cuts in at full volume surprise!! but that didn't last more than 20 seconds and it hasnt worked since. I think it might be the speaker connection but who knows. I never abused this amp it was taken good care of and it just quit. Ill fix it when i have the money but first ill most likely save up for a stack.

has all the basic features necessary for a practice amp. Headphone out and an input for external source as a cd player made it everything that I need for a practice amp.

My 3 basses are an MTD Grendel 5,Rogue Fretless 4 string and a Fender Squire Precision 5 upgraded with Bart pu's and a series/parallel wiring setup. The 5th string tends to make the amp fart at anything above 3 but usually I am not looking for anything more. The tone is great and it serves wonderfully as a practice amp. I improved the low end by adding drilling a second 2" port and adding port tubes which I bought on ebay for $7. This added more punch to the amp and less distortion on the lower. I was helped in this project by a Talkbass member who ran the specs of the cab through his software and determined what I needed as far as the porting was concerned. Adding my Sansamps BDDI box to the mix really gives it a great sound to practice to.

Next time I would try the LA-12 to see how my 5th string does. I probably will eventually give it to my son who is starting to play a 4 string. I do have an inexpensive Rogue fretless 4 string and it sounded great through this amp.

Using this with and Ibanez BTB406 6 string. I play mainly rock, but I play some blues, country, jazz, etc. Whatever I'm liking at the time. This amplifier sounds decent, but I wouldn't reccomend it for anything other than a practice amp. At anything past volume level 4, a low B string on an active bass will bottom out the speaker. You can go a little higher with a passive bass, but not much. The overall tone is pretty good, but it still sounds like a practice amp. If you're looking for SM900/Megoliath tone, this isn't going to cut it. That should be obvious though. Used in the context it's meant for, it's a good amplifier.

When I purchased this amplifier, the input socket went bad within a couple of weeks. I promptly took it back to Guitar Center where the Manager promptly looked it over then went into the back room and brought me out a brand new one. No problems since.

If you're looking for a decent practice amp and are looking for one with some decent tone, then this amp is a good buy. It's no SWR RedHead/GK 700RB210 but for the price it's hard to find fault with it.

This SWR LA-10 appears to be a late 90's early 00's vintage. The small cube combo runs 35 watts through (1) 10" speaker. Athough a rather basic amplifier, it does have enough features to carry you through most practice and some gig settings. Along with a basic 3-band EQ section, the unit has a 1/4" line out, a 1/4" line in, and a 1/4" headphone jack. Like all amps in the 10 watt to 35 watt range, this amp is designed for rehearsals and low volume applications. The cabinet gets bonus points for being extremely sturdy compared to others in its class, as well as ahving terrific inset carry handles and a detachable power cord. Extremely easy to carry, setup and play.

Although I liked my Peavey Microbass, I was looking for a small practice amp that had better tone and line inputs/outputs. The LA-10 fits the bill perfectly. In a side-by-side comparison The LA-10 (35watts, 10" speaker) had infinitely better tone than the Peavey (20watts, 8" speaker). The overall volume of the SWR was a bit better, but not by much (and I didn't expect it to be at these wattage ratings). However, the SWR was vastly better in the tone department. It actually sounded like a small bass amp! Clear and distinct lows, mids and highs. As much as I've loved my little Peavey, it just simply sounds like a small practice amp (think AM radio). The SWR takes the tone to a different level. That being said, don't expect this amp to hang with guitars and drums at normal levels. It just simply was not designed to play at these volumes.

Another positive feature of the SWR LA line is the nearly indestructable cabinets. This thing is built like a tank (I've also found this to be true for my Peaveys). I've had no electronic issues with the amp, and don't expect to since it is used as a small practice/acoustic amp only.

If you keep in mind the basic limitations of the amp (low wattage, simple electronics) it is a terrific bang for the buck. These normally sell for $200 through the various stores and catalog houses. At that price, you may find other brands with larger speakers and higher wattage ratings. However, I couldn't be more pleased with this unit at the $110 price that I paid. Definitely a bargain! If you are looking at any of the sub-50watt micro bass amps, I'm sure you'll find that this one to be one of the best of the bunch!
