SWR's 8x10. 1200 watts mono, 600 watts stereo each in dual 4x10 chambers with separate imputs, high frequency horn in the top. Excellent thinking with the handles inset on the bottom of the cabinet. My practice space is upstairs and the handles are quite necessary for transport. Also, cosmetically, I think the newer SWR cabinets with the chrome grills are striking.

This cabinet is the best single-cab solution i've found for the sound i'm looking for. Hifi, note clarity, with huge presence and punch. It has the best natural sounding low end of any cabinet i've tried. huge low end, but not boomy and overriding like an Ampeg (not to discredit ampeg - which i also enjoy for other applications). In my experience, I have found the Megoliath maintains a very flat volume response, even with significant tone changes.

I purchased this cabinet used without issues from the original owner, and have been practicing and gigging with it for about a year. No problems, just stellar performance. I run a Sansamp RBI through a Crown XLS402b which sends 400 watts to each chamber for a total power of 800 watts to the cabinet.

No direct dealings with Fender Musical Instruments Corp. I do like how comprehensive the SWR website is. I appreciate how they have easy access to specifications, user manuals, and information even for items that have long been discontinued. That's helpful, as I have a few of those too...

One downside to this cabinet is it's price. There are tons of excellent cabs out there that will suffice way before you get up to the $1500 retail price. I always wanted to try the cab, but could not afford to drop that dollar amount on it. The only way I was going to get one was on a used purchase - which was a chance happening. Because of price, and the standardized notoriety of cabinets like the Ampeg SVT 810E, Megoliaths are rare and even more rare to find one used and in good condition. So I got lucky and got a deal. It's the best cabinet I've played for what I like. Reliable so far with well thought-out appointments. I'd give it a ten, but have to go with a nine for the price issue. Not that it isn't worth the price; it's a relative aspect to my budget and what else is available.

8x10 cab, 1200 watt power handling. tilt back design and skid rails make it as easy as possible to transport. sturdy metal grill is a plus and the carpet-like covering is sturdy. horn attenuator is GREAT! the swr's features blow away the ampeg 8x10. it has speakon jacks and can be run stereo. it rules!

i use EB stingray 5 for modern rock styles. i only give it a nine because it breaks up slightly with the amount of bass that i like in my sound, but i realize that i need a 15 or 18 to balance that out. the cab does exactly what it's designed for very well. on stage having the 8x10 is great because the top speakers are more at ear level and you can hear the higher frequencies better than having only a 4x10 which is too low to the ground. also, in clubs, the point of your speaker cab is to HEAR yourself, not FEEL yourself, so the less bass is really fine. you really need that mid range to cut through to you so you can hear the notes youre playing. the sound man can bass up your sound in the house speakers for the live mix.

I really like how this amp has speakon capabilities and how the enclosures (top4/bottom4) are seperate. how the horn at the top is seperate from the bottom if you wanted to run a high and a low. this thing blows away the ampeg 8x10 in my opinion, especially the way it handles the b-string. very good cabinet, i dont how i can switch now.

right now im using 2 very hot emg pickups through a gk2000 rb and the cab loves it, it will take all the juice without a problem. the frequencies this cab can handle are amazing.

aside from my horn going out (purely my fault) this thing is very reliable and easy to move around, it may be a bit heavier and bigger, but it has handles underneath, and sliders on the back. the casters are quality unlike ampeg. the rubber stoppers won't fall/rip off... like ampeg. speakers won't go out... like ampeg. so basically, it blows the ampeg out of the water for for tone and live.

great cabinet. it is getting more and more popular. plus... its shiny :) aside from it being a bit pricy if you don't get hooked up... it is an awesome cabinet to have. the extra money you pay for this thing definately pays off.

2000 model, I play everything from jazz to rock/punk and this cab. is the ticket for any venue except for coffee houses. 1200watts rated,
two 8 ohms cabs 600watts each into one crazy sick sounding son of a bitchen cab. Also has a high frequency horn that breaks glass. Grab handles and rails make it for easy transport. 1/4" plugs and speakons

Im playing a 7 string and a 5-string fretless, and this cab picks up the notes clean backed with thunder pending on your EQ setting. If you slap, tap, strum or whatever, you will here every note through this 8x10 swr cab. If you biamp, your stoked, because of the separate channels for top four and bottom four.

Swr is the industry standard. No backup needed. Im now pushing a 2400watt power amp along with my preamp and haven`t had any problems with this cab.

Ive been playing for about 15 yrs. and have owned various cabs and heads. Nothing has ever got this deep in frequency. 5,6,7 string players will feel the B string and your sound engineer at the gig will be scrambling to find out where that earth moving sound is coming from.
