I use two Schroeder Cabinets, a 2X10 and a 2X12. I play 250+ shows a year all over the US, primarily as a touring musician in bars and nightclubs. I play the acoustic double bass, or stand-up bass, in a heavy rock context, and I get more volume with less feedback playing through Schroeder?s cabinets than any other speaker I have ever used.
The design of the angled speakers allows me to stand in the shadow of the two speakers, yet hear myself perfectly.
I would stack either of these cabinets up against any other 4X10 on the market?I think they are cleaner and louder than the Eden, SWR or Ampeg 4X10, at about half the cost. They are beautiful cabinets, and built solidly?they have withstood the rigors of the road with grace. I am using two cabinets that weigh under 50 lbs each, yet I sound better and louder than with any 8X10 cabinet I have ever used.
The bass response is beautiful and solid, and the highs are sweet and silky. I augment the mids with a Polytone Mini Brute, which I use as a near-field monitor for my stage sound. The 2X12 cabinet rivals any house system subwoofer that I have played through, and often I stand in the hall, listening to a bass loop, and think it sounds better and more rich coming off the stage than through the subs.
Jorg Schroeder is immediately accessible for any concerns or problems you might have, and when you call the number on his site, he actually answers the phone himself. When I blew one of the cones (through no fault of his), he shipped me out a replacement cone next day air at no cost to me. This is one of the best companies I have ever worked with, and Jorg has set the standard for quality workmanship at an economical price.
