Schroeder Bass Cabinets 15+L

The cab was made in 09'. Very basic in format, (1) 15" neo plus a 200 watt titanium tweeter. It adequately covered the style of music play which is primarily blues, jazz and funk

I AB'd this cab at local high end bass shop with several other high end cabinets with multiple speakers. For most of the comparison I used the Accugroove (1) x 12" and the El Whappo Jr. Keeping in mind the subjective nature of sound the Schroeder was slightly louder than the other units. IMO it had more of a "ballzy" sound vs. the lower/boomier sound of the other units. All of his cabs have more mid-low/mid presence which according to Jorg allow the sound to cut through more effectively in a live setting. The tweeter was too transparent for my taste but Jorg offers another crossover which will add more bite in the upper register. I've played his cabs with this set up and the tweeter is very balanced, not harsh or brittle sounding. I've become partial to his cabs because I've tried several of them and for their size they generate a tremendous amount of volume.

He and a group of employees hand builds the cabs using conventional equipment such as table saws and routers vs. a CNC which other manufacturers use. I like this...more like a piece of hand made furniture vibe. The cabs are built like an anvil, very light and easy to move. He has thoroughly tested all his designs vs. engineering a cab based on the typical tuning formulas and taking it to market. Also he's a fantastic player and had a particular goal in mind when he started building cabs years ago. What he heard in his head he's put in his boxes. We've had numerous phone discussions regarding this. Depending on your playing venue one can use one of his cabs vs. a multiple stack.

I've spoken with Jorg several times. I found him very passionate about what he does and willing to bend over backwards to satisfy my needs. He runs his business with the (3) leg stool approach, great quality, superb customer support and value for price paid. A 10 in this category is not high enough. His products are available through Musicians Friend, The Low End Bass Shop along several other reputable suppliers.

I've been playing 20+ years. I have a Thunderfunk 750 and play Sadowsky NYC basses. I sold my 15" but am deciding what Schroeder model to purchase next. I suppose when it comes to any bass cab design there are only certain parameters a builder can work within. I've owned numerous brands and there several great companies to choose from. However, what I want in and out of a cab matches perfectly with Jorg's design philosophy. Jorg's goal is to build a light weight/loud cab with a very foccused attack and I think he's done that.

Speaker sounds hollow, brittle and sterile. I used it with vintage bass amplifiers including Ampeg and Kustom amps. I also used it with a Ampeg SVP-CL preamp and Crown PB-1 power amp.

I sold the cabinet after very little use. The new owner blew the speaker in a week.

Jorg picks up the phone when you call. He also claims to have sent emails that you don't receive.

I would avoid Schroeder products at all costs. He is trying to compete with top notch manufacturers like Bergantino but makes a product Walmart wouldn't stock.
