This amp was made in 1985. I bought it new. It was one of the last Sunn solid states made at about the time Fender bought out Sunn, I think. It's rated at 200w rms @ 4 ohms and 300w rms @ 2 ohns, and yes, it holds up nicely playing at high volumes at 2 ohms with 2 cabinets. It has a normal and bright input, an external speaker jack, a contour switch which brings out the lows at low volume settings, an adjustable build-in compressor with on/off function, too, and a 4 band dial type eq. It also has an amp overlimiter that actually works. Comes with one Sunn special design single 15 speaker - Eminence, I think, with an aluminum cone center, in a front loaded closed back ported cabinet.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
I have used this amp with a Washburn bass, a Gibson Thunderbass, a classic Hofner bass, and a Ibanez five-string. Since I play mostly classic rock and country, this amp really suits the genre well. It is extemely quiet at idle, no hiss or hum. If you are into distortion, this is not for you as it is very difficult to distort this amp, even at very high volume settings. With the master at about 1/2, if your crank up the channel volume to 8-9 range, you get a punchy type of sound that sounds kindof Direstraits'ish, if you remember them. The high end timbre is very clear on this amp, but it gets a little mid-rangey with the single fifteen cabinet. When I add my ported single fifiten extension cabinet, this problem disappears. Also, with the single 15, the really low end is a little quiet, although clear, most likely because the cabinet is very small.

Reliability : 10
I have used this amp for over 20 years at hundreds of gigs, jams and practices, and it has only broken down once, when a ground vibrated loose in the power amp section. A local tech repaired it easily
