I bought the unit used on eBay for $275 and I have owned it for a little over 6 months. It has worked great for live and recording situations.
First I will mention the features that I find useful as a bass player. There are two channels modeled after the SansAmp RBI (Bass Driver DI) and RPM (Para Driver DI) rack mount units. There is a gain switch for active or passive pickups as well as a front mounted channel selector button. Either channel can be used as a drive channel or clean channel, how you configure it is up to you. You can mix both of these channels together to get some sick tones. The manual has great documentation and sample settings. There is a tuner out which is very good, there is a Padded SansAmp DI XLR out, effects loop, speaker (obviously) and footswitch out. The included footswitch is excellent as it has the ability to mute, switch between channels and mix them together. The best thing about the foot switch is that it is powered from the head through any standard TRS 1/4" cable. That kicks!

Ease of use is turning the knobs. You can get any tone from vintage to modern. I learned to control this head for my sound. I have owned the Bass Driver DI for many years and the intuitive controls of this head reacted as my pedal had.
A very little movement in the controls makes a big difference.
Tone is incredible!
I have used this head in my home studio and live. It is built very solid and has plenty of power and flexibility. In the studio going direct the signal is silent and clean. I recommend this head as a studio friendly unit as well.

Had a SABDDI for almost 10 years with no issues. Awesome. I cracked this thing open and everything is solid. I do not see any issues with this unit as far as quaility or workmanship are concerned. Never had an issue with this unit and I maintain all my equipment very well. I feel confident, as well as my bank account, to gig without a back up.

I play American Series Fender Jazz Bass's through this head with a Crate 1x15 and a Hartke 4x10 cab. I use a Small Clone Chorus and MXR M-108 10 band EQ pedal combined with a Boss Tu-2 floor tuner. My band covers Tool to Hendrix and I can get any of these hard rock sounds. Our originals are more Tool based musically and I have continued to sculpt my sound happier and more accurately than with any other head that I have owned. Playing with my fingers exclusively has given me the added comfort of using this head properly through dynamics. I have been playing for 19 years and have had plenty of heads. This one is the best. I would and probably will by this amp or the LM-600 again.

Tech 21 Landmark 300 Bass Head year unknown. Bought used on eBay about 6 months ago, came with 3 button foot switch and manual. I am a hard rock\metal bassist in a 60/40 covers/original band. This amp handles any style you can throw at it. 2 channels can be used independently or simultaneously together. Came with a very functional foot switch that has a handy mute button that I love oh so much. I play dry with no effects, however I always have my 1997 Bass Driver DI handy, the reason I bought this amp is because of the Bass Driver DI and Tech 21 quality and dependability. Amp has a tuner out that I also appreciate very much as well as a SansAmp DI XLR DI output that I have used exclusively direct for recording. I use this head Live and for recording, I never use a back up and run the amp in a live band atmosphere at least once a week. It has enough power for me as I had never had to turn the level pas the 2:00 position. All in all a very professional and well thought out head.

I use 2 Fender American Series S1 Jazz Bass's and Ovation Viper Bass A/E. I run the head through a Hartke 4x10 and a Crate 1x15 cabinet using the full capabilities of this amp. This head is a clear as day, I have one crunching guitarist and a gonzo drummer and with my Jazz's every not can be heard. Live or in the studio this head has a consistent sound. I have played this head inside and out and it never disappoints. Distortion can be subtle and smooth to sick and raunchy. If you would like to hear the head recorded direct live and in the studio check out these links.

Live gig to Board Direct Recordings www.ftemusic.com
See for yourself how this head sounds. Like I said before, I play dry so how you hear the bass is what you get. Awesome Tone!

I have owned a Bass Driver DI for 10 years and never had an issue. I opened this amp up and checked everything and all is solid, however I have had this head in a case since I received it and the constant removal of the front cover of the case had loosened 3 of the chicken head like knobs loose. A dab of super glue corrected this issue promptly. I take care of my stuff so I think/hope it will last. I have owned many amps, Hartke, Ampeg, Crate, GK, and Fender. This amp seems to be pro level just like an Ampeg or GK. I am my own roadie so I know it will be handled with care.

Playing 19 years and currently own 2 Fender American Series Jazz Bass's and an Ovation Viper bass. I have a 4x10 Hrtke cab and a 1x15 Crate cab that I stack with this head. I only own 1 pedal and it is a Tech 21 Sans Amp Bass Driver DI, I keep it just in case but have not needed to use it since I bought this head. I also own equipment for a small recording studio that my band and I have set up in our practice spot (My basement).

The amp was made in 2005 great for that old school sound and also modern styles ,it has two channels the first is basicly there san's amp bass driver the second is there acoustic driver you can use one or the other or combine the two witch i pretty much alway's do for a great tone just leave the blend control in channel one full tilt for that tube sound and dial a little more or less volume in channel two if you need to clean it up a bit has a effects loop and tuner out also a mute button on the pedal as well all and all a very well thought out amp could use a bit more power but it's just enough for me.i play blue's and rock pretty much a varity and this baby cover's what i like most about it is you just plug in and play you don't need to think about any thing but the music i have played threw many tube amp's that don't sound as good as this amp.i have been playing for 35 year's that's alot of amp's i'm thinking about getting one of there combo's ( GREAT STUFF)

I have two ibanez 885 loaded with emg's 18 volt setup one with the bts with dc40's and one with a p45 in the neck and dc40 in the bridge bqc electronic's i leave the gain switch off because the pickups are really hot but it sound's good either way, it's hard to get a bad sound out of this amp.iv'e played big stage's and small club's and this little 23 pounder pull's it off great i'm using a 8 ohm eden 4 ten cab so it's only putting out 8 ohm's relly haven't needed any more power just run the direct out it's the same as what's on there bass driver to the board and i'm all set no brainer the distortion is very tube like it sound's more like a tube amp than some tube amp's i have had really smooth, also when it's powered up the mute button come's on automaticly no buzzing cord's you can also use any guitar jack to plug in the pedal these people are smart.

I bought the amp on e-bay about 6 month's ago for 470.00 haven't had any problem's at all took a look inside ,it's built like a tank and the cooling is very well thought out the fan run's at slow speed alway's you can hardly hear it and kick's in high speed when it get's hot it's placed facing down on the heat sink's so the air is pushed out the front and the back unlike alot that blow the air into the side of the rack and just keep getting hotter . i have a backup amp i stopped taking it because i alway's keep my old san's amp direct box in my glove compartment anyway ,i contacted tech21 for a manual they got back to me the next day and were very friendly , i know i must sound like a commercial for tech 21, but i have been looking for a amp like this for a very long time and they nailed it they also have a 600 watt version ah... now that's just plain decadent....

I think this was released in 2004/5. I bought it on the strength of reviews of the RBI and having heard their sansamp DI stompboxes. Bought it new for about #500 and let me tell you, it was money well spent. Easily the best bit of bass gear I've ever bought.
Can switch between warm thumping bass and natural sounding overdrive and can mix the two. A foot-switch was included. The manual will tell you that it can sound like any amp you like and I guess it can but I found the sound I liked and stuck with it. It just sounds fantastic.
DI's straight out to the desk and I've lost count of compliments from sound engineers and other bass players on the tone that comes out. Has a ground lift for these occasions and a tuner out that works even when the amp is "muted". Did I mention you could do that from the foot switch? Very handy! No horrid noises when you change guitars, leads, etc.
Also has a "gain" button to boost passive basses, which I use.
Actually, on the whole it's quite minimal features-wise: no effects, effects loop or any other crap that you won't use. Just a gorgeous sound.
I'm going to give it an eight on this category anyway, because what features it does have, you'll use and they're such high quality. Sometimes I wish it had more power but I've never been in a situation where I actually needed it. Mind you, they do a 600 watt version.

I play in a covers band and an alt/goth/rock band and easily has the versitily to do both.
I'm very much a no-frills kinda player. The only effect I use is a Boss Bass overdrive pedal (that and the landmark's own overdrive channel just has to be heard to be belived). DI's straight out to the desk and I've lost count of compliments from sound engineers and other bass players on the tone that comes out.
I've done numerous recordings with it just plugged straight into the desk an everyone thinks it was mic'ed up (and done well, at that) because it sounds so beefy.
Only ever heard a better tone and that came out of a setup costing at least 6 grand, including bass, head, cab, effects, etc. Whereas this is just plug-and-play.
Top, top marks.

Never had a problem yet. One of the funky shaped dials came loose about one and a half years after I bought it, so I super-glued it back on.
No problem.
Has never let me down in a gig situation, unlike some cabs/basses I've used.

I've been playing in various band and various styles, inluding; celtic rock, goth, metal and covers. Been plaing for going on 14 years, now.
I also own a Peavey 410TVX, a Hertke TP15, Fender JP-90, Ibanez soundgear and a Behringer wedge combo thingy. In the past I've owned a Hertke 410TP, Trace Eliott 2x10 (I want it back, why the hell did I sell it?) and a Fender BXR300C, which was just shit frankly.
If it were stolen? I'd buy another without question. If I had enough money, I might buy a Mesa Boogie all tube amp just to see what it's like but that sounds mighty expensive.
Can't say there's anything I hate about it. A little on the heavy side but that's partly down to the 2U flight case it's in. What do I love about it? Tone, tone, tone :). That's what it's all about, right?
It would be nice if it had a programmable bank of settings, like their guiatar PSA thing.
I've never seen one for sale second-hand. I'm guessing no-one wants to part with them. I certainly wouldn't part with mine. Seriously, go out and buy one.

This amp is awsome! Two channels one clean one dirty and with the footswitch it adds them both for a sound that in my opinion blows every other bass rig off the map! It has all the power I need and an endless supply of new and cutting edge sounds.
I have used every rig going and even worked for the late great Trace Elliot as a final test engineer, so I know what i'm on about!

I play funk from Tower of power to The Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Landmark 300 and those great sounding 4/10 cabs make for a totaly fat sound! You can dial in as much or as little of the amps sound as you like and the bass seems to be endless only serpassed bt the top end that could almost take your head off!

Tech 21 were A1 when it came to customer care and their uk distribution company (Rocky Road) were bang on it!! As a profesional artist I had a great deal on the gear and it turned up the day they said it would and with all the right bits (With not a scratch or screw out of place)

I've been playing for about fifteen years and use Warwick and Musicman basses, Line6 bass POD and FXs including a whammy pedal!
Apart from the so so cool looks of the tech rig, it was the fact that I lined up evey top bass rig the shop I bought it from had (SWR, BOOGIE, ASHDOWN, HARTKE, EDEN and AMPEG) and played them all...The Tech was miles ahead of all of them in sound build quality userbility and looks.
