Lots of clean or dirty power. Great e.q. centers. Quiet.

Tons of power. Quiet. Can truly compete with the SVT. I found that because it is so reliable, sounds great, and is much lighter than the SVT, it's just a better bass head.

Reliability : 10
U.S. military approved...well that's what it looked when I opened it up with a tech buddy. We were blown away with the construction of this puppy.

I have been in the market for a new amplifier able to suits my needs and decided to buy a TECH21 Landmark600 head with matching TECH21 B410 cabinet after trying and testing several rigs. I am an amateuer bass player, and I play electric bass only in a Rock?n roll (think to ?50s style Rock?n roll) power trio. Although I am an amateur I always look for a good tone, capable to fill the sound of my trio band and in the meantime to make what I play audible. Said that, I found the TECH21 LM600 head really complete in feature. Two independent channels able to deliver 2 distinctive tones which can be used also somoultaneusly, great power, good portability. The included footswitch is a must since it is the only way not only to switch from channel 1 to channel 2, but it also gives you the chance to use both channels together. Tone shaping is also great. The head is also equipped with an interesting array of ins and outs on the rear panel. From DI (which I use always during the few live shows we have to go directly to the mixing board), two out (both ?? and Speakon) for cabinets, to tuner out. There is also an effect loop which at the moment I am not using, but it could be really helpful for outboard effects lovers. Just forgot to mention that the footswitch also gives the chance to Mute the amp. Really helpful when a tuning of the bass is required between songs. I am honest when I say that I am totally satisfied with the features of the amp.

Major thing when I buy an amp (but this applies obviously to instruments too) is to have a clear idea of what is needed. After trying a lot of stacks in shops and from friends I realized that the tone I was after was definitely old school. By the way, I play old school music with old school bass & technique. I also understood that Ampeg tone was the one which suited my playing style and music situation the best. Unfortunately no one of the Ampeg products in the head-cabinet market was good for me. Some was noisy or underpowered (SVT3Pro, B series) some were too pricey (SVT Classic) or pricey and heavy (SVT2Pro). I was in a personal battle and my thoughts were ?I want the Ampeg tone but I am not able to find it in Ampeg products?. Nothing against the actual Ampeg products, but my ears were not satisfied. I also tried totally different amplifiers both from technical and sounding side and made my mind clearer. I loved GK, the Mesa Boogie M-pulse series, Ashdown ABM, Markbass, Marshall VBA. I disliked SWR, Eden, and in general the clear sounding modern heads now in the market. Visiting a shop near where I live I also spent an entire morning testing all the amps they had. And with my surprise I found that the Landmark600 hade all the tone, power and features I was looking for. I ended buying the amp, even if the brand here where I live is known only for pedals and I am the only one to have a TECH21 rig. What I really liked was the great plug and play powerful tone, warm and punchy. The power is all here, just think that during rehearsal I have gain and master at 12 o?clock and the volume needed is enough. I also made some experimentation (I have the head from 18 months) and I ended setting channel 1 in a SVT like mode and channel to in a Fender Bassman mode. And switch from channel 1, 2 and both depending on the track. I thought that big sound was an exclusive of big old all tube amps, but tube mystique apart I have to admit that the TECH21 LM600 delivers what I need and expected. I am happy and my band mates really like the tone of the bass now. The basses I am playing are Fender Precision with alder body and all maple neck (my favourite combination). One is a ?75 in sunburst, one is a 2000 in all black and the third one is a custom made ?54 RI with single coil Precision pickup, finished in blue flower. I sometimes use my other basses which are hollow or semi hollow bodies, a Reverend Rumblefish with JJ pickups and a Gold finished Epiphone Jack Casady Signature model. Every bass has its own voice but I am able to have the tone I need with all of them. I would describe my tone as big, with a clean power and some dirt. My bass heroes are Dondald Duck Dunn, Jerry Scheff so I try to mimic their huge old style tone. I am also pleased from comments I received from friends. We use to try our equipment each other and the TECH21 amp received great comments from all of them. Someone also made offers?

The amp performed effortlessly, and always remain cold due to the big heating system and powerful fan. I experienced a fuse blown due to a system power supply fault (not of the amp, of the whole stage?) during a soundcheck. This was due to an improper and improvise shut down of the whole supply system made by a young technical assistant. I was forced to use a smaller rated fuses which I blown some weeks later. My fault I did not replace with the correct fuses. Now correct rated fuses are in the head and everything is going strong

Excellent. When I bought the head the Italian shop did not include the footswitch, so I emailed TECH21 and asked how to order the item. Mr. Lloyd replied and they shipped the footswitch to the Italian importer who forwarded directly to me. Completely free of charge. Lloyd and the guys at TECH21 also are great with product information and communication. Best customer service I have ever experienced.

As said I am an amateur. I have a very slow gig schedule and I play mostly in my free time. I have 2 weekly reharsheal of 2 hours each. I also have my opinion on how an electric bass has to be in a band and I found a satisfactory combination using Fender Precision bass and TECH21 Landmark amplifier. I also think that I won?t change this amp in the next years and if the amp will work as good as at the moment (after 18 months of use) I wont? change it at all. I would appreciate also to complete the stack with a second TECH21 B410 cabinet. I love the 10? speakers and two cabinets probably would make a huge impact. Sound volume is more than enough even with only 1 cabinet, buy, you know, a full stack would improve the sound, would make the head work at full force (4 ohm load) and have a great visual impact

i've used the bass driver pedal before and loved the tone. heard good things about this amp, so i finally picked one up on ebay. i've been an ampeg man through and through, but i got tired of the constant battle of keeping my svt classic running, so i've made the switch. i play classic and modern punk as well as hardcore, and this head is awesome. it has a pedal (bought separately, although i think they are included now) that lets you switch OR combine channels (there are 2)and mute it for tuning or instrument switching. the head is basically the bass driver pedal and the di pedal put with a 600 watt power amp. i've had problems cutting through 2 guitars and drums with every amp except my svt classic and the lm600. this is a monster.

this amp suits my musical style, and is versatile enough to suit just about anything. it is noiseless, even at high volumes. you can get distortion on either channel, as much or as little as you want, and it sounds great. i play this amp through an ampeg 8x10 cab, and it moves the earth. i own two '57 reissue fender precision basses (made in usa, of course) and i engage the "gain" switch for that added boost to my very passive but smooth pickups. it sounds full, rich, and just plain awesome. tech 21's tube emulation is the best in the business. nobody else can recreate a tube sound like them. i liked the bare bones features of the svt classic for years, but have found myself combining the two channels for a massive boost to cover extra ground when needed. again, as bassists, we must always fight the battle of being heard, and for me the battle is over. in larger venues, there is a sansamp d.i. in the back, and it rules.

Reliability : 10
my svt classic started breaking down on me, and for a year it was in and out of the shop. while the ampeg svt classic has, in my opinion, the best bass sound ever created, reliability became the more important issue. i struggled with a few other heads until i gave this one a shot, and i've been blown away. i've had no problems with it, and hopefully i will not. as a fully solid state amp, i feel very secure, but i cannot be sure what will happen. i will give it a 10, however, because it's been great to me.

i emailed tech 21 to get some info before i bought the head, and they got right back to me with some general info. after i bought one, i emailed them to get a footswitch, and they emailed me right back with the price, specs, and phone number to call. i called to order it, and lloyd was very cool. i asked him some other questions, and he answered everything. he said just look at the manual and it explains everything, and i told him i bought it on ebay without one, so he emailed me the owners manual right away and said to contact him personally if i needed anything else. that's good customer service.

Overall Rating : 10
i've played bass for about 15 years, have toured the u.s. and europe extensively, and have experienced every type of venue, from bars to arenas. this head has been the best for me. if it were lost or stolen i would get the same one again. i miss my svt classic dearly, but when touring 9 months out of the year, reliability is an absolute must. when you find an all solid state head that sounds like this one, you have the best sound available with the reliability you need.

New in 2002. Very versatile sounds, but the LM600 is most definitely a rock amp. Since I prefer dirtier, ballsier bass tones, I'm very happy with it. I play indie rock that is both loud and soft... no metal or anything, but I can see how a metalhead would love this amp. It is a tranny amp, but uses Tech 21's acclaimed Sans Amp technology. One channel allows you to mix clean solid state signal in with the tube emulation signal, further enhancing the flexibility of the available tones.

Two channels, switchable with a separately purchased footswitch. The footswitch enables me to activate both channels simultaneously, which opens up a great deal of additional tonal possibilities. There is also a tuner mute function on the footswitch. There is an effects loop, but no headphone jack. Rack ears were also included, which allowed me to add this amp to a SKB style rack, underneath a rack tuner and a compressor.

I use this amp for most gigs. It can handle just about any large venue I've ever seen. Can't complain about the power...

Gets an 8 for features. The number of features it has is fantastic, but two things annoyed me. The fact that there isn't a headphone jack has a been a nuisance on several occasions, particular when trying to record. I mean come on, most bass amps come with headphone jacks. The other annoyance, far more serious, is that I had to buy the footswitch separately. Guys, I know this comes as a shock, but to sell a two-channel amp without the footswitch sucks. You really should consider including the footswitch, as it really helps unlock the versatility of the amp.

I use a Reverend Rumblefish XL bass with special design J-style single coils. Arguably, it's the best bass available for the money, hands down (and in my opinion, it's my dream bass). It has passive tone controls and an innovative voicing selector switch.

The cabinet I use is a 4 ohm Aguilar GS 410 with 700W power handling. This bass-amp-cab combination rocks. I have never heard bass tone as ripping and earth shattering as what I hear exploding out of this rig with every note. It shakes everything in my damn house, and I feel like a rock star.

It is possible to get a squeaky clean bass tone from this amp, but its strength is definitely on the dirtier side. It's great at duplicating the nuances of lots of golden greats in the history of bass tone, like the Fender Bassman, Classic SVT, or even King's X type sounds. Sure, buy a Bass Pod - hope you enjoy playing sterile RECORDINGS of those sounds instead of through something that actually recreates them with their intended warmth and drive.

All in all, for my purposes, I'd give it an 11 in terms of tone quality AND versatility. But since it only goes up to 10...

Reliability : No Opinion
I wouldn't gig without at least a direct box. For larger gigs, I usually try to bring along the old SWR Workingman combo, you know, just in case. But I really don't foresee anything happening to the LM600 to make me need it. Then again, that's exactly why to bring a backup.

Hasn't broken down. Yet. Great, I probably just jinxed myself here.

I've dealt with the folks at Tech 21 personally, and I must say I'm impressed by their friendliness and professionalism in dealing with the small problems I had early on (missing rack ears, purchasing a footswitch and a proper speakon cable). My only complaint would be their perceived slowness in shipping these things to me, but I can understand how busy they must be over there.

I've been playing bass for 7 years, and guitar for 16. I'm a loyal devotee to Tech 21 and Reverend products. I also own a Tech 21 Trademark 60 with two PowerEngine 60 extension cabs, a Reverend Slingshot electric guitar, and a Reverend Hellhound head with matching 410 cab.

I'd say I enjoy playing bass just as much as guitar, and I'm certainly having a lot of fun playing through this Landmark 600 amp. Despite a couple of features I would have liked to see included with the amp (footswitch!), and some slight sluggishness on the part of Tech 21 to fix problems they shouldn't even have to hear about (it was the dealer's fault, not theirs), this amp is a winner. Nothing is perfect, but the sound of this amp to my ears comes about as close as anything can come.
