Your basic powered monitor. Much the same as the power engine 60, but in a wedge cabinet with ports and a 10" speaker. Volume and three band EQ 1/4 and XLR ins, XLR out with ground lift.

Sound Quality : 8
This is designed to be used with devices such as Sans Amp, Pod, etc.
I Use it with a BOSS GT6-b for bass, and a Digitech RP2000 for guitar. For bass, you definetly cannot expect a lot of volume without it being distorted. You have a little more grace if using it with guitar. Seems like they could have given it a beefier speaker. I considered sending it back at first, but changed my mind. I used it at a rehearsal and on a gig where low volume was essential. It worked great. For louder situations, I have a JBL EON. I find it works best when I keep the output on my GT6-b down a bit and turn the amp volume up. Using the XLR out on the GT6 is out of the question. Just too much signal for the wedge to handle.

Reliability : No Opinion
Seems sturdy. Haven't had it long enough to tell.

Never dealt with them

I don't think I would have shelled out the $300 or so regular price for this. It was a "blem" from Musician's Friend, so the $199 price seemed worth it. I bought this mainly to use in situations where I don't need my EON cabinet. I am definetly into packing the least ammount of gear I can get away with. This will work well for you if you need something for living room rehearsals, or gigs where the stage volume is low and you can play through the PA. If you play guitar through a POD or something similar, it makes a great monitor as well. Bottom line: It works well if you use it for what it was designed to do. If you expect it to keep up with a super loud rock band with a pounding drummer, you will be disappointed.

Does what it's supposed to. Tech21 intends this monitor to be used with the Bass Driver DI pedal, and it does sound much better with it. But then you are suddenly in a different price category altogether with other options.

Sound Quality : 2
Can not handle a decent volume on stage, forget using this as an amp if there is a drummer in your band. Does a decent job as a personal monitor, at least for an acoustic bass or a four stringer on lower volumes. Forget using it with a low B five string though, the speaker breaks up easily on those low notes.

Reliability : No Opinion
Don't know, but given my experience with other Tech21 gear (Power Engine 60, Bass Driver DI) it should be trouble free.

No experience here, have not had to contact them

This is not a bass amp, it's a monitor. A not very powerful one. If you want a portable bass amp that can double as a monitor on stage IMHO you should consider something with more power - at least 100 watts and with a 12" speaker - such as Behringer or Hartke. I use the small 150 watt EBS Drome, which is twice as expensive but also sounds *much* better.

The amp was made in 2002. I find that using two hooked together is very versatile if you use a sufficient PA. This is a very simple amp to operate, no frills (volume, bass, mid, high). I use this as my main rig, but you should use 2 to get more tone.

Sound Quality : 10
I am using a 2000 Fender American Jazz Bass with factory electronics, a Steinberger 4-string, and an Ibanez SR480 4-string and with each bass, it sounds great. I have used this rig in a Classic/Hard Rock band as well as a Southern Rock band and it cut through with no problems.

Reliability : 10
I can depend on it, but if one goes, I have another one to plug into with no problems. I have only had these for about a month.

No need.

I have used amps made by Hartke, Ampeg, Trace Elliot, Peavey(sad to admit), and SWR, but for the money it is a great portable rig.
