2 x 12" Combo (Original speakers were defunct - replaced by 2 30 watt Bakers). Volume, Treble and Bass knobs and a Normal/Bright knob. 2 Inputs of differing level. Round the back, On/off and Standby switches, a speaker extension jack and two external power feeds (disconnected when I had it repaired). It's VERY heavy. It has castors, but if you need to lift it, you need a friend!

Using it with humbucker equipped Ibanez Blazer and Hohner Arbor Flying V. Nice for clean sounds. Only bedroom use so far, so I haven't really driven it hard. Sounds good with a pedal (DOD classic fuzz). At bedroom levels it's okay for bass as well. Only 2 EQ controls but copes well.

It came to me in a bad way. I got it cheap and got it repaired. SInce then it's been fine. Honestly it hasn't had much use (3rd amp after a Peavey and a Laney). The tube is going now after some neglect. I wouldn't replace this amp, I would try something different, and I will possibly trade it in when I buy a bass amp (Only due to no more room!)

No support any more. It was however very straightforward for my local repairman to completely overhaul.

Overall, it has a nice clean sound, but I play rock and metal, so I prefer my Peavey Backstage. It's fine for bedroom practise, and I have never tried it in a louder situation.(It's too heavy to carry to practise). I bought it as a bargain, and for the money I am very happy.

The Professional Bass is an one channel, EL 34 equipped Combo amp, which had been build in the mid 60ies. It looks like a Fender and hosts one 12" speakers, containing a huge magnet. Controlls are so far volume, treble and bass as well as a normal/bright switch. The two inputs contain distinct resistivities, which can be well used for
either single coil or humbucker bearing guitars. The rear side bears nothing but a external speaker output.

When I first heard that amp (before I had never recognized Tesico stuff, despite 30 years of playing)with an American Standard Strat, I really couldn't believe it. Even with the bright channel and the bass controll on 2, the amp has as much bottom as you would use a 4x12" cabinet. To me it was the hugest clean sound with a strat I had ever heard, comparable to old Fender Bassman or Tubemaster sounds. With its 40 W you can easily overdrive the whole thing, so natural distortion of the amp is really great. If you need a little more gain, the use a a Fulldrive 2 is very helpfull. Hence, for playing blues its one of the best amps I ever had, and by using a humbucker guitar the sound is as well great, but definitely not so "magically" like playing a Stratocaster.

To date I had only small problems, butif you know a good tube amp doctor it will be no real problem. Anyway, depending on the age of the amp, I would recommend a backup amp for gigs.

Honestly, this is one of the amps I never want to get rid off, despite its minimalized versatility. Even if I don't use it in regular gigs its great, to plug the Strat into the Teisco and to play for an hour or more in my reherasal room. Definetly it will be heard on my forthcoming CD.
