Sound Quality : 10
just bought a usa fender jazz and its sounding even better, deep and punchy.never heard it distorte its plenty loud enough at half volume!there is enough variety of sounds for my style (which is anything from rock n roll, glam or punk).

Reliability : 10
never let me down, probably through it down the stairs and it would still be perfect!

i have gigged with it for 3 years and is perfect but will probably add another trace cab to it.have got a peavey firebass 700 with 1x15 black widow cab but the trace wins hands down.if i needed to replace it i would with another trace elliott without even considering another make.

This is a 300W bass combo, Active and Passive inputs, 7 band EQ, Compressor, Effects loop and a balanced DI. Not sure when made, I'd guess mid nineties. It isn't one of the new breed. This isn't my main amp rig though.

I use this in a covers rock band playing pub venues and large halls. For pub gigs there's plenty of power. For the big halls I use the DI. This amp is great for this. All the features I need are on there.

The volume you can get from this is great.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this amp with a Fender Jazz 1975 re-issue with vintage american pickups. I sometimes use distortions with this and they don't screw the sound up. I get the perfect sound from this, warm and thick. You can get a nice John Paul Jones, Jaco, Tim Commerford and more.

The amp is very quiet too, no hissing etc.

Reliability : 7
I know there's the usual scare stories about Trace Elliotts but this has recently gone on me. The fan stopped working mid gig, so the amp overheated (nice metallic burning smell!) and blew the speaker. I'll probably put a new Celestion speaker in. All in all it will cost about ??125 to fix.

I've never had any other problems apart from pots getting a bit dirty and needing a clean out.

It's build very solidly. This has seen many gigs and has a few scratches and scars but is still solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never used them. I was told by a friend they were difficult to deal with so never bothered. I know a guy who does repairs and mods etc so he does all the repair work.

I've been playing for 7 years, this was the first 'big' amp I bought. Amp wise I also own an Ampeg SVT3Pro with SVT Classic 4x10 and SVT Classic 1x15. I had the Trace before the Ampeg but didn't want to sell it as it's more portable than the Ampeg rig.

If it was lost or stolen I wouldn't replace it, not because I don't like it but because I have the Ampeg. I would be gutted though!

I used to borrow an Ashdown MAG 300 head with 4x10 and 1x15 cabs and the Trace kicked it's ass for volume and clarity. Compared to the Ampeg it isn't as good - but not many are!

I do love this amp, it has been a good servant which is why I don't mind spending money it. I think it has started to own me rather than me owning it!

I bought mine new in about 1993-1994 I think and it's still my main amp. Features are same as everybody else's below so no point repeating them. Only thing I'd wish for is a built-in version of the famous TE dual band compressor. Got that as a floor pedal now anyway, so that's OK. Last year I got TE in Essex, U.K. to put in their new MOSFET output stage so now I have 400W undistorted into 4 ohms and it's clean as a whistle, no hum, no crackles and the fan's a lot quieter than a Marshall. Oh yes, I also put locking castors on it, a very useful extra to have.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Yamaha RBC600 cos it's lightweight, narrow fingerboard & black, & I've got some pedals (Ernie Ball volume, Crybaby bass wah, TE compressor, BOSS SD-2 distortion/boost) all done up on a Warwick pedalboard (total rig setup time 3 minutes). I've played every style from Jimi, Cream & Deep Purple to Robben Ford, Metallica, C&W (yeuchh!!), dance, Cobain to the Corrs, whatever, smoky dives to big halls (via D.I. of course & then the amp makes a nice monitor) and the GP7 covers them all. Almost never had to turn it above 4. For big standalone stuff I stand it on a TE 1048H and then it's ball-flapping like no other. And looks like one merciless mother too. But it's all a matter of taste, I guess.

Reliability : 9
OK, so people's experiences here are mixed - there'll always be Monday morning. But I'd say problems with these bunnies are rare and nothing that your local anorak can't fix in an hour. My amp has never let me down. Built like a storm trooper and could probably stand up to one - it's been dropped often enough... I did send the amp part back to TE last year for an overhaul cos the power electrolytics were getting a bit tired after 10 years, they could no longer store enough energy for the dropped-D spikes, so it was starting to sound a wee bit tinny. That's when the big ole MOSFET output board went in. After some teething trouble with cold joints (TE stuff is made in the USA now, not in the UK) it's up & running better than ever and I've never even taken a backup to gigs.

Customer Support : 8
Hmmm... TE in Essex, UK were alright cos they're just the maintenance depot now, but I think it's a shame that parts quality has gone down since Gibson in the USA took over manufacture. These toys aren't exactly rocket science, so I'd recommend you find a good local chappie with an AVO-meter & a soldering iron, just in case...

Overall Rating : 10
How long I been playing??? Oh dear, at least since I stood 4 feet from Jimi at the Rikki Tik in Hounslow, September '67, that much I remember... Amps have come & gone but my no. 2 right now is a Hartke 3500 head - a mean tomahawk in its own right but just a weeny bit characterless against the Trace. Course I'd hunt down another one if it went walkies, no question - look, I like this brother, OK? It's not a Marshall stack (tried those too) nor one of those horribly expensive glam names, but it gets me where I want every time & it don't need no nursemaid. And at under 200 GBP used on ebay it's, like, good value & stuff ? Grab one while you can still find them.

This awesome bass combo has a passive input and and active input. Features a 7 band eq with built in compression. Has a line out and a line out level. its has a 15" speaker whcih drives and drives!

Sound Quality : 10
The sound that comes out of this amp is unreal!! With my old aria stb series bass when its turned up loud it sounds so flipin nice. the bottom end is gorgeous whilst the top end can sound just as crisp!
Should feel the breeze come out of the horns. its a blessing in disguise. my new bongo bass comes alive with this amp. The trace really captures the character of each bass ive played through the amp. best investment ive ever made

Reliability : 10
Shame about some of the other reviews. ive had this amp for a good 5 years and there has never been anything wrong with it. its never failed on me!

There isnt really anything more I wish this amp had. It is very versatile, at least versatile for me, i've yet to find a sound that i couldnt dial in on it. Although, an effects loop on the back wouldn't hurt, I hardly ever use effects and when i do, the front jacks are good enough for me.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Carvin walnut and maple 6 string with the MM humbucker and the jazz pickup with a piezo bridge, an Ibanez BTB 6 string, and an American fender Jazz bass. it sounds great, although ive never had to play it above 4, it does retain good sound when the volume is turned up.

Reliability : 7
In the 5 or so years ive owned it, the only problem ive encountered was when my friend turned on a power amp on the same plug with no power conditioner on it, and it spiked the amp. I let my friend who is a technician check it out when it happened, and the next day it was working fine, supposedly theres just a protective diode in it that shut off the power amp. Otherwise no problems whatsoever

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
Overall, this amp kicks ass. Built like a tank, this amp is probably one of the best built structuraly that ive used. I dont see any problems arising from it, but if they did, id be more than happy to have it repaired and keep using it.

Enough features to keep me happy! I play in a rock band, and mostly D.I. it using the balanced D.I. 7-band EQ is plenty to get a good sound.

Sound Quality : 9
Using a Musicman Stibngray Active through a Zoom BFX 708. Bought the 708 to get a decent basic sound when I was using a (bottom-end) Hartke head, now I bypass as the Trace's basic sound is damn near perfect for my needs, and only use the 708 for a synth effect. Ideally, i'd be using a Ampeg SVT, but needs is as needs must.

Reliability : 10
Gigged with it for four years now without any problems at all. Kind-of heavy-ish, but doesn't take up any room in a van.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them (See Reliability).

Overall Rating : 10
Have nothing but good things to say about this amp. Used it three times a week at practice and every other week at gigs, and never had any problems at all. Would definitely look for another if it were lost/stolen.

features are good enough. i play in a cover band doing anything from country music to rock and it performs very well. Average e.q. and compression. It has enough guts to power a Peavy 4 x 10 linked in and running nicely at 4ohms and 300 watts

Sound Quality : 8
I use a Yamaha TRB5 and a Music Man stringray 4. Again it does its job well enough and can cope with the 5 string.

Reliability : 5
Now we come to the nitty gritty. The amp was returned 3 times under warranty starting from when it was just 2 weeks old to repair the faulty illumination panel on the front(frustrating.) I turned it on at a gig and nothing happened, It is just out of warranty and needed a new mains transformer at a cost of #80(really frustrating)

Customer Support : 2
3 attempts to fix a small problem I wouldn't say their level of repairs were very good

Overall Rating : 4
i have been using Peavey bass amps for years without the slightest bit of trouble and will be again from now on. I won't be in a hurry to purchase any more Trace Elliot gear.

It has only a 7-band eq, but with the Trace pre-shape function that's a you really need.

Sound Quality : 9
If you love how a Trace sounds, it's perfect. But it's only going to sound like a Trace. If you want a range, you'll need a processor. I love the Trace sound so I gave it a 9.

Reliability : 10
Mine has been used and abused and as far as I can tell, it's bullet-proof

Customer Support : 3
I've never needed customer support, so I wouldn't know

I use my 7215 for the bottom end with an Ampeg BA-210 for the top and if there is a better dual-combo set-up out there, I've never heard it. I also use a Boss GT-6B Processor and I switch off between an American Fender Jazz Deluxe 4 String and a Spector NS-2000 Q5 5-String.
