This is my cover band amp, hence it is very versatile and articulate. Perhaps to much so at times. It is very quiet and doesn't hiss during silent intervals. I normally use a Fender Jazz Bass Deluxe directly plugged in with my tone controls set flat. The cab i use it with most is the current TE 1048H running one side of the head @ 300w @ 8ohms. This is adequete for most gigs though I also have the matching 15 compact cab for larger gigs, this is where this rig comes into its own, exceptionally well balanced, clear and loud.
Most gigs I've played recently have had no house support and the comments from patrons have been excellent. This amp has its own flavour of course, which is classic, though when you spend some time tinkering, it shows you how much of a chameleon it really can be.
If you need versatility you won't be dissapointed

I've had this amp for almost 5 months now and it has played more than 70 shows with no problems. So far so good. I've owned almost every major brand bass head and the build quality of this amp is very reassuring unlike many others which i won't mention.
If TE keep building there products to this standard they will gradually gain loyalty from previous customers who strayed previously when they were in others hands.

Sent TE an email prior to purchasing, regarding some technical aspects, they responded within 24 hours and were very helpful.

I've been playing bass for 16 years. I am in two bands; one original and one cover band.
I also have an Ampeg SVT 3pro and 410HLF Cab which I love as much as the Trace Elliot, but for different reasons. IMO one is not entirely better than the other, they just fufil different needs and preferences. I also have an Ashdown ABM 500 mk2 which to me is trying to be both I think. To sum it all up Ampeg is the true classic wether we like it or not and Trace Elliot established itself as the modern classic with its inherent sonic flavour, while not remaining a one trick pony. If you only have one amp as a bassist, Trace Elliot should be in your top 3 contenders list. Welcome back Trace Elliot.
