This is a 1X10 30 watts practice bass amp. Decent 3 band qualizer, gain and volume control. Too heavy for its dimension and power rating.

Sound Quality : 3
This is where things get bad for it. I've tried it just after using my Carvin BP100-10 and what a world of difference in clarity ! The boxer 30 really doesn't achieve good definition in tone : it seemed like the mids and highs were getting out of a 18" speaker and as for the lows, as I expected nothing close to get a decent low B (it doesn't distort but it is really muddy and lower the volume of approx 15 db). Overall, muddy sound all the way of the frequency spectrum (at least it is constent there). Really weak in volume for a 30W, don't expect being able to use it even with a smooth jazz drummer.

Reliability : 7
The one I got is aged a bit. The input jack has become loosed and there's a bad contact that cuts the signal, I'll have to fix it. But for its age, made solid (too much maybe cause it's heavy).

Trace Elliot is too old to get some sort of service. After being bought by Gibson, the former T.E. people now have formed Ashdown products.

I've been playing bass for 13 years. My giging bass are a Conklin GTBD-7 and a Carvin LB76FP. This amp makes my two babies sound like crap. I don't think I'm going to keep this amp. My Carvin BP100-10 kick the Boxer 30' ass all the way. The BP100-10 is so far the best practice amp I've heard in clarity, in the lows it goes down to 45Hz easily having just a bit problems handling the 33 Hz of a low B at high volume. It is loud enough to play with a moderate rock drummer and it weights only 36 lbs (lighter than this poor 30W Boxer). I'm quite disapointed by my first experience of the legendary "trace elliot" brand.

This is a basic 30watt practice amp.
There's no line-out but I use the headphone socket as a line out to my mixer which has gain pots on the input stages, so I can record the amp even if it doesn't have "real" line out. Because it's quite simple, i'm giving it five.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using a Warwick thumb BO4 string (active) and a Hohner jack custom 5string (steinberger spirit style active bass). Both basses kick out a lot of signal, but the Boxer takes it in nicely. I'm also using a Zoom 506 and a Yamaha NE1 and a Dod Bass compressor. I really do like the sound of this Amp, it's loud for a thirty.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only just got it (after reading the reviews here, THANK YOU PEOPLE ;O)

Trace were bought up by Gibson, and the founders have created a new company called Ashdown.

Overall Rating : 10
What other gear do you own? Warwick thumb, Hohner Jack custom V bass, Roland Synths, JD800 and JP8000, Yamaha A4000 sampler, Westone thunder 1a bass.

I ordered this from Germany (I'm a Brit living in France) at a stunningly low price, anyone thinking of getting one should do so 'cause they're really nice practice amps, i'm delghted with it.

30 watts Bought new in May 2002, last one of the British made boxers. Paid $199.00 Headphone jack, unfortuntly no output or effects loop jack. Bass,/mid,/treble, controls also volume,/input gain,/ and mid-shift button are the only controls. Lighted on-off switch.

Sound Quality : 8
I use a Ibanez SR400 thru this amp, and I play blues, gospel. Since it is only 30 watts a person is limited only to practice and very small get-togethers. Nice blues tone with this amp, never really had it turned all the way up but at mid levels sounds great.

Reliability : 10
Mine so far is built like a tank, no problems at all, only thing that was wrong was a few loose mounting screws, a phillips and a few seconds and it was fixed. Metal face plate adds great protection.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them, I think Gibson bought Trace-elliot out.

Overall Rating : 8
It has been a very nice practicing amp and the green carpeting cover is very unique, very durable as it has been in and out of my car manys times. If it was lost or stolen I probably would look for more power and features, but again for just a practice amp, it is great.

30 Watts. Headphone out. Mid boost. One channel. And that's about it. Other amps on the price ranger offer features I would like to see: line out, CD in. As is, this amp is great for practice, but that's about all. It's limited

Sound Quality : 9
Very positive. I have played through other 30 watt amps (e.g. Gorrilla--a lousy amp) and found the Boxer to offer some of the best tone in this price range and size. The Boxer also puts out rather impressive volume for a 30 watt amp. I have actually played alongside drumkits and my little amp kept up. To be honest, this was pretty taxing on it. Hint: place it on a chair to get the most out of the volume. I bought the amp on a recommendation from a friend who owned one. We both agreed that if you were gigging in a small setting, the Boxer would work, but it's too bad there's no line out to feed into a PA. I guess you could always mike it.

Reliability : 7
I've owned the amp for two years now. It's doing well. I'm a little concerned that the connection where power cord joins the amp is loose. Trace Elliott covers these amps in a fuzzy rug-like fabric. The stuff is difficult to clean over the long haul. I would have preferred vinal--then I could wipe it with a wet cloth.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I bought it through zzounds.com back when there where running free shipping on all orders. I've never seen a lower price. There were no defects with the amp so I did not have to use customer support.

Overall Rating : 8
I use this as a practice amp, and it has served me well. I don't think in this price range you could find better volume or tone. The lack of features is definitly something to consider.

This amp was made in 98. It was purchased new. It has bass, midrange and treble controls which makes it much more versitle. It has a head phones jack which is nice but I never use it. There is one problem that I have found with this amp that would make me not buy it again, it has no output jack or effects loop. Why would thay do that? The amp overall is very good, but the missing jacks makes me drop the rating by 3.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound is very good, lots of punch for a 30. I use a Fender bass through it and I am amazed at how good it sounds. I can play any style of music with it and with the tone controls it always sound like it should. The durability of this amp is very good also, I can dime the volume and it is still as clear and crisp as it is at 2. This little amp will rattle the windows of the house 2 blocks away.

Reliability : 10
I have had only one problem with this amp and it was a simple bad fuse. I would depend on this amp in a gig without a back up. Even though it is a 30, it is strong enough to go on stage and hold its own.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The only dealing I had with this company was to ask if they can install an out put jack for and I have not heard from them yet.

Overall Rating : 7
I have been playing for about 15 years, if this amp were stolen I would not replace it solely becouse of the out put and loops jacks missing. I have bunches of equipment form Dan Electro, Fender, Peavy and others and this is the only bass amp that we would want to use.
