Great power for playing in jazz group or with 'clean' guitarist. Needs more power to play in rock group. Made in 1997. It ould be better if it had on-board compression.

Sound Quality : 10
I use 2 custom built basses. One is fretless with a seymour duncan SMB-4D humbucker set toward the bridge. The other is a 32 inch scale fretted, headless with a dimarzio 'stingray' style humbucker set close to the bridge and a p-bass neck pickup. Both are passive and have have great tone. I use a boss GEB7 equalizer pedal to boost the signal from the basses. I have found that Trace Elliot bass amps always have awesome range in tonal variation, so you can get any sound you like out of it - provided you are using the right guitar for the sound you want. I like to be able to hear the tone of my bass when I play it, especially for funk/jazz/instrumental music. The Trace Ellot Commando 12 is great for this style of music.

Reliability : 9
I would use it at a gig without backup - In the 4 years that I have owned it, it has always been reliable. It was blowing fuses a couple of onths ago, but I got it serviced and the problem was only minor.

Customer Support : No Opinion

I have been playing since 1998. I recently bought a Labsystems 400B head and custom made 4X10 quad box, which doesn't have as much tonal range (but still has enough), but it's nice and loud and has a great on-board compression. If I had the money I would buy a bigger Trace Elliot (if my Commando was stolen), but they are quite pricey.

I think it was made in 2000.
It is really very versatile.
One channel, an effects loop, and a line out.
I use this amp in my bedroom, and whist jamming with my brother.
It also has:
One Gain channel,
Bass,
Deep switch,
Mid,
Mid shift,
Treble,
Bright switch,
100 Watts.

Sound Quality : 10
I use it with an aslin dane Jazz bass copy. I play from Manic Street Preachers to Rage Agains the Machine. It can easily drown out my brothers Marshall guitar amp, only at about 6. It doesn't distort untill you get from about 7 1/2.

Reliability : 10
I would definately use this for a small gig, but nothig too big, because I would need more speakers to be heard.

I only wish it had side handles as it is a heavy bitch. Other wise it is a great second amp. I compared it to a louder Laney amp and found this better by far. I don't like the weight, but I think it would pervent anyone getting a quick gettaway with it. If it was stolen I would probably buy the Commando 15 for more power and more bass.
