Simple, very simple tone, gain, volume and a big big hearth.
My setup: Shack pro4, ibanez musician fretless old precision like with emg pickups

Sound Quality : 10
Vpreamp is in the loop of my art sgx nightbass for the limited control of this head. This amp have a big big sound much better than eden for example I move from ampeg to v-type and i improved a lot my setup and feeling

All valve 220w bass head. Passive and Active inputs. Two volumes pre and master. Knobs for bass mid and treble. Switches for bright deep and pull the mid knob for shift (these seems to be a preset but what I dont know) DI section with XLR and pre/post and ground switches. Rear panel has 4/8 Ohm selector sockets for speakers loop and line out. Switches for power (standby is on the front) and ground. Finish is a green carpet. THe KT88's are Trace Elliots so could be anything. There is a fan that kicks in when powered up. No compressor so I give it a 9.

Sound Quality : 9
Excellent. From clean to brutal (it has to be pretty loud for this ) it delivers. I use a Hartke 4x10. I have a no name 15 but cannot be bothered to hook it up. I use a Stingray 5 and a Thumb fretless. This amp suits the MM better. The Warwick sounds ok. I mostly play in church and need a variety of modern tones but not metal. This amp would probably thrive at a metal gig.I had it at home for a while and at low volume the tone sucks and the fan is annoying. Leave it at the pub/club/church/scout hut and turn it up.

Reliability : 9
I have had it since November. I dont know how old it is but its mint. I leave at my church so its had the journey home and a journey down the road. With this soft treatment coupled with TE's build quality reputation I expect it to last years.

Customer Support : 10
The rear panel has an XLR as well as a 1/4 jack so I posted on various BBS about this (using both or one) and got no answer. I e-mailed Trace explaining why I was after support on a product bought sh privately and instead of telling me to stick my question where the sun dont shine they answered within 3 days (yes you can use both). So top marks Mr Trace and Mr Elliot.

This was a bargain. I was not looking for valves but as a pragmatist always check out seemingly good deals hoping for the best and expecting the worst. It has power tone and authority within the context of my 'band' (rota of various musicians 3 guitarists with Marshall and Laney 30-60w valve amps).
