I have a 1970 Traynor YB1 2 x 15" cab I bought with a YBA3 Custom Special 100 watt tube head used for $500 about 28 years ago. It has the original speakers (one broke a wire to the voice coil, other than that they have had no problems). It is 16 ohm. I got a HUGE improvement in performance when I cut two ports about 5" in diameter in the cab. I know this is a classic and I hated to cut it (mine sat unused for about 25 years so it is in extremely good shape) but trust me - it is TWICE as loud with the ports.

Very punchy sound. Cannot handle high power i.e. my SWR 400 watt solid state amp.

Baltic birch plywood with internal bracing. Rubber bumper ALL around the outside of the cab prevents dings. Other cab manufacturers should copy this. All Traynor gear is made to last 1,000 years.

Been playing over 30 years. Own a solid state rig with JoeMeek compressor, SWR 4004 amp, two Trace Elliot 15" cabs, Digitech BP 200
bass effects pedal, 1975 Precision Bass, Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 5 bass, 1970 3 pickup Les Paul Standard, Baby Taylor acoustic, Taylor 310 acoustic, and the ONLY autographed Fugigen Naoko Yamano Signature Model guitar in the world.
Believe it or not I have been playing in a country rock, and a nu metal/punk band recently. I love my old Traynor. Nothing can replace the tube sound. If you have the chance to get a '70's Traynor get it.

hand made in 71 brown version. Has 2 15" original speakers. I play long instrument noisy rock but I usualy just have my amp on clean.
biggest problem= it's 16ohms which means it cuts my power down from 50 watts to like 20 watts... very annoying. and the bass speakers don't get the midrange I need to hear myself apart from the bass player.

It actualy has a pretty damn good sound in recording and practicing. Actualy, it sounds REALLY good, but in live situations it proves to be too woofy to stick out and under powered...

reliability is it's middle name. made in 71 and has not been repaired or even touched by any of it's owners since 1971.

amazing sound for studio use. Would work well with bass for sure but you'll want to get some 8ohm speakers for sure.
I'm not going to get rid of this cab cause...it's the original for my bassmaster head and it looks really good with it. and I'll use it for recordings for sure. But I will have to buy a new 2x12 8ohm speaker cabinet.

I have two Traynor cabinets. One was silver face built around early 70's. The other, built around mid 70's. Both with original speakers.
I power both with same head (Hartke 3500) or with individual Fender Bassman heads (1967, 1974 vintage). I play with a old time country/rockability band so vintage gear is important for our stage show. The Traynors really add the sound I desire.

I use a Gretsch Broadcaster hollowbody with the speakers. It gives a nice, warm, smooth tone. If you get down on the E string hard, especially with the tube heads, you can get a total raspy fuzz without effects at any volume. If you use a Fender Jazz Bass, it is really punchy for quick blues tunes or lightning solos.

It is the most dependable cabinet and system I have. Someone once tried to use the cabinet as a stage extention by placing it face down next to the existing stage. I was very pissed off when I saw what this other band did, but the whole thing worked perfectly when I fired it up. One other thing I did was accidentally back my car into it and scraped one cabinet about 20 feet in a parking lot. There were no cracks or any visible signs of damage to the cabinet. It litterally is bullet proof.

It maybe had a warranty in the Jimmy Carter era, but not any more.

I have been playing for nearly 17 years. I love all my equipment. All my guitars compliment the Traynors. My arsenal includes 13 bass guitars, 4 heads (tube and solid state), 5 Les Paul guitars, and one string bass. The first Traynor came to me through a bass head I bought. I liked it so much I put the word out at area stores and pawn shops that any others found in my area should be directed to me first. Since then only a few have come my way. Unfortunatly, not everyone takes care of their equipment so some have been passed up.

This cabinet in conjunction with a ysr-1 amp makes highs that will make your head ache. Most people think that just because the speakers are 15 inches, they are made for bass. Not so here. A low, tight cone and fine coil make the finest highs, and good lows. These are very rare,(2x15's) and should be snagged up at any time. I use mine for my bass and guitar, and it works far better for guitar than bass, but works good with bass.

Maybe it is my ysr-1 amp, but when I push it with my bass, it distorts. I'm pretty sure it is my head though. Highs are its specialties.

My bassist uses this in his setup w/ a Peavey TKO and Yamaha bass head. Gives him a bit more low end thump and volume. He uses a 5-string and the dual '15s let it shine.

Good cabinet for practicing and for more stage volume, nice solid clean volume, no effects for him, just clean tight low end. Looks like it's been used quite a bit, but still in tact.
