ugly amazing tone for guitar. with the distortion all the way up it sounds so grainy and rough... i absolutely love it. with the distortion down a few notches, it has a pleasant breakup that doesn't sound like any other amp i've heard. really unique.
for bass, this does the job alright clean, although it's not quite bassy enough, and not nearly loud enough. the distortion channel is pretty unpleasant for bass unless you use it very moderately.
10 for guitar, 6 for bass.

it's not the best amp, but it has a unique tone. it's a solid state amp with real character, and i'd recommend it in a heartbeat to guitar plays with a penchant for ugliness and brutality. cheap as hell, too.

Thing looks like soviet military technology. Had to have it. Purchased as a bass practice amp, but louder than anything in the price range. Bigger than my gig-amp, but wouldn't even attempt to play out with it. Not nearly loud enough for most rooms and breaks-up early. Using the high-level input gives you extra gain, which seems counter-intuitive. Boost switch makes a slight difference, but doesn't define the tone much. A very great amp for the money. Reverb is the only thing missed, but hey, it's a bass amp.

Plug-in an external effects processor with reverb or delay, and you have a great amp for guitar. Nice full tone at volume. Gain works as an overdrive at volume. The distortion is nice and gritty, but I prefer using the POD for flexibility.
I use the amp with my American Strat, Mexican Jazz Bass, and even my Alvarez Classical. Very versatile for all instruments/styles.
Some hiss/noise at volume, but no 60hz hum.
Bass breaks-up pretty early at high volumes.

No servicing, no worries. Old when I bought it and takes regular beatings in stride.

Never needed any support, but it could be hard to find for an amp this old. Met a gentleman who works for Traynor. Seems like it's a good company. Traynor makes high-end tube amps now, but without the soviet-military styling

Played about 10 years. If it was stolen or broken I would have a hard time finding another one.

I have an old Traynor, at least from the late 80's. Not too powerful before it distorts. Good for small gigs, I use it with my upright bass, but rarely my electric. Great for jazz or acoustic music.

The sound is good, but lacks in definition. The 15" speaker is okay for a smooth sound for jazz or acoustic music. Doesn't punch like a 10" or 12" would. This is not a rock amp. There is no tweeters or horns or any other features that the new, high technology, bass amps have that clear up the sound. Bass tones can get kind of messy. Only a basic setup, treble/bass/mid.

This amp will last me forever, Im convinced of it. Ive played the hell out of it for 7 years and it still goes. Has cut out on me now and then, nuts on input jacks loosen, easy fix.

Play bass for 8 years, this was my first amp and only for now. Looking for another with more punch. I collect lots of basses. I love that its lasted so long, but an amp this heavy should have more watts/features.

i use this amp on a daily basis with a Peavey Milestone (very cheap bass, i know but its all i could afford at the time.) it gives me all the tone i need and then some. i just turn my bass tone down to maybe a 2, and my volume to a 2, then i turn all of the amp knobs full except the gain. i use the gain for my volume and it sounds great. oh and also, if you turn the volume and gain up too high youll recieve radio stations lol.

This one is a sleeper! (in a good way) Plug a guitar into this and turn up the gain, leave the boost off. UNBELIEVEABLE! Side by sided it with a classic Marshall Superlead 100 (all tube, early 70's point to point). This FRICKIN' Traynor sounds unbelieveable! What a COOL sound for a solid state amp. Can't say enough, it's just wild. Very very verrrry cool. Oh yeah, it works great as a bass amp too (which is what it was made for). But for electric guitar, all I can say is DOH! You've got to hear the sound of this thing! I think they took the TS-25 guitar amp which came with a 12" speaker, and simply put the same amp in a 15" combo. Read the review in the guitar section of Harmony Central here. You will see that someone else also discovered the overdrive coolness of this amp for guitar. Just WOW!

Well, it's 25 years old. I bought it used for $79.00 and it works perfectly. Traynor (aka Yorkville) is a solid Canadien company that has always made great gear. I'm sure it will be fine for years to come as it isn't leaving my arsenal of gear anytime soon unless I get stupid and try to sell it off for something else.

Overall a very limited feature set, but it get's the job done as a practice amp. It could benefit from a better EQ section. Most active basses have at least this level of EQ if not more.
I currently use this as amp outdoors to practice with a buddy of mine and I have WAY more power than I need. Surprisingly powerful for a 25W amp (Read Loud, but I definately wouldn't recommend playing a gig of more than 30-40 people with it ;)

I'm currently using a Pedulla Thunderbolt 6 String and an OLP 4 String Stingray Clone. Not as much thump as you might expect from a 15". It's not ported and that may or may not be the reason. But other than that it sounds great, not something you'd call a "Tone Monster" but that may have to do with the age of the speaker more than anything. I will say this, for the price I see them going for you can't beat this things' sound. I believe it was a very cheap amp at the time, but I can vouch for the fact that this amp sounds much better (especially at louder volumes, no cracking or popping!) than anything in it's current used price range. < $100

I have had this amp for over 10 years now. My uncle had it before me for at least as long. Neither of us has EVER had a single problem with this amp. I've never even needed to use the built in circuit breaker. This thing is a tank. It's been knocked around at gigs countless times, including being knocked over at least once. I weigh about 250 lbs and use it for a stool pretty regularly and the thing is still as solid feeling as it ever was. I've had the volume CRANKED (Gain and Volume), I never thought it would handle it, but this bad boy pulled it off just fine.

I've been playing for about 11 years. My only other amp is a SWR Workingman's 15 Combo which has taken the place of this amp. If it were stolen I'd buy another if the opportunity presented itself. It's a great amp for someone who needs something that sounds good but doesn't have 500 to spend on a new amp, or someone looking for a second amp to leave where they practice.
