Not a lot of gimmick to this amp. Vintage tube sound. 2 channel(with two inputs per channel) input that can be patched for a large number of different tones. Bass and treble control. 2 volume controls and 2 bass and treble boost controls. Approx. 90W of tube tone. This amp was made in 68, was recently retubed with 2 EL34's and it is loud and sounds better than any other amp I've played. Purchased it with the matching 6x10 cabinet. If you get a chance to pick up this combo...go for it. Huge, full and punchy tone with a little crunch as the volume goes up.

Incredible. I play indie/folk rock and this amp couldn't have been a better choice. Huge variety in the tones. 4 inputs that can be patched to vary the tone if more than what the EQ offers. I used to use an Ashdown MAG stack that required compressors and large EQ's in front of my amp output to make my bass tone sound full. With this amp, i haven't used a thing in front of it yet. I've gone directly in with my bass (Fender P Bass) and love the tone. I'm currently using flat wounds but wil; be switching over to round to see how much more variance I can get with them.

Canadian Made amp that is built like a tank. I have no intentions of bringing a backup. This thing is its own backup. 40 years of operation and it still sounds better than anything i've ever heard. I can't believe how great the speakers have held up as well!

Never contacted about problems. The tubes were replaced by yorkville in toronto...which is an hour drive from me. Great job.

I've been playing for 8 or 9 years in a band - inlimbo. This amp definitely takes my sound up a few notches from my old rig. I used to use a nice rack mount compressor and EQ but with this amp I just go directly into it with my precision bass. If it was taken from me, I'd kill to get it back. Period. Love the tone and versatility as well as the volume with the 6x10 speaker cabinet. Awesome amp. Awesome!

I use it for guitar. Plug it in, crank all the knobs. It sounds great at any and all settings. Mine was built in 1973. I just got it today. Not a lot of features, which is fine with me.

Perfect ten, hands down. I have played through a lot of amps. I've been playing for about twenty years. Eddie Van Halen and Andy Summers were my guitar heroes when I was a kid. I know good tone when I hear it. I play a Japanese Charvel with a Gibson humbucker and an alumitone single coil. This amp provides absolutely stunning tone either way. Maxon SD-9 and a Guyatone compressor, SO sweet. Does it sound like a plexi? a Hiwatt? a Bassman? ****, I don't know... all I know is it sounds PERFECT

The guy that shipped this thing to me had it recently serviced. Brand new EH power tubes. I suspect it has been modded, I don't know. The tone seems almost too good for it to be stock, but I don't know what a stock Traynor should sound like. All I know is it's as solid as a brick (and probably about as complex). The quality of construction and components is outstanding.

My amp is a early 70's model if I remember correctly. Side mounted fan, all tube, blah blah...no MODS at all. Amp needed some work, sent it to Traynor/Yorkville, fixed the fan, new tubes, (I think new Mulls were put in) new feet, checked the connections, perfect working order. Thanks Yorkville! Bought both head, and the true matching cab for $600 Cdn....Thats a steal.

Sounds? Sounds EXCELLENT. I play classic metal, rock, and punk (Black Sabbath, AC/DC, KISS, Sex Pistols, NY Dolls, etc) with mostly fingers. I am playing Fender P/J amd P+J, basses with vintage, noiseless, Fender lace, and Seymore Duncan pups and this amp rocks. My guitar player and drummer, who are both accomplished musicians, and gear heads say this is the best set-up I have ever had. This amp is LOUD, This amp, especially paired with the Fender Noiseless Jazz has amazing bite to it. Great mids, really cut through. Hooked up to the true matching Traynor 410, this is "The Amp" Doesn't look flash, and doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles...because it doesn't need them. Plug in and play, no pedals, nothing at all, I don't need them, and neither does this amp.

I would gig without a backup without hesitation. Just like everyone says, this is built like a tank, and with having Yorkie techs just having a go over it...no worries here.

My first rig was a old Traynor monoblock that I borrowed. Then to Ampeg V4-B with 2 15' Peaveys. Then Ampeg Pro 3, with classic 410+115, the Ampeg Pro 4, with same speakers. I tried GK, Peavey, Fender, and they didn't do it for me either. I had enough of paying big money for a name, without getting the quality to back it up. So I went back to a Yorkville xs400 with a Ampeg 15 extension. Then another York combo with another Ampeg 15 extension. Then a Yorkville 800+808. And back to basics with the YBA-1A, and this little amp has the best tone, sound, feel, vibe and mojo of any of the others. For the price, the quality, tone, everything...like I said, this is 'the amp'. I have been playing for close to 10 yrs, and although I get "gas" every once in a while, I have truely found my amp, and this is one is with me until the end.

this amp kicks ass pure and simple. i have it paired up with a marshall 1960 classic cab (4x12 celestion 25w greenbacks) i jump the channels, and set both volumes around 8 and drive it pretty hard. i use it with: a 2001 gibson custom shop '61 reissue les paul/sg standard, a 75 les paul, a 68 es-345, a 73 strat, and a 52 reissue tele - all of which sound great. the great thing is this amp's sensitivity to touch. with humbuckers it has a roaring growl - think physical graffiti - and is moderately punchy (a lot from the 25w speakers flopping around and not quite as punchy as the regular bassmaster) and cleans up nicely when you roll back the volume and ease up with the fingers. the single coils glisten and just ring with definition, but definitely could use a good overdrive in front when you need it. i have a blackstone appliances mosfet o/d which i love but dont need to use much with this setup. i also occasionally use a fulltone deja ii.

Excellent base amp, however I use it with my Fender Telecaster , the option of the two chanel entry one being bass ,and the other lead, are excellent , it offers no variety of course it's plain and simple , but i use effect pedals with it . The powerfull 90w rms will blow you out as I use it with two traynor bottoms each with 4x 10".

The construction of these amplifiers are extremely rugged ans heavy built , very dependable , it has never broke down on me , all I did is replace the tubes , however i will have the shop in Ottawa look at the secondary bottom outputt as it is weak , but nothing scary ..
