Big goofy looking cabinet from about 1970.Very thick front to back because the speaker is positioned in the middle facing upwards into a reflex baffle. This cabinet is a "semi-folded" horn. Not nearly as tall as most other 18" cabs but just as heavy.4ohms.
I need to get caster wheels for this beast.
YCV-18 is YORKVILLE-CERWIN VEGA.

Sound Quality : 10
Thunder.
This is how a bass cab is supposed to sound.
There is NO high freq tweeter in this cab.I hate most modern bass amp/cabs.They are mostly geared for "slap-crackle-pop" style bass playing.I like deep thick bass tones.I have a superb ACOUSTIC 220 head atop this cab and the sounds are exactly what I want. This cabinet sounds best in a large room at higher volumes.I expected alot of muddiness but was surprised at how well the highs are.The highs are there, they are just a bit dense and kinda "thumpy" sounding.

Reliability : 10
Solid.
Built like a siege engine.
God awful heavy as a result though.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Traynor/Yorkville are still around but I have never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
Best bass cabinet I have yet owned.
Most modern style bassists would hate this cab.
I adore it.I am currently an EBAY freak and am always looking at vintage bass heads. This cab would go great with SUNN Concert,Coliseum or Beta heads.Any/all ACOUSTIC heads like 320,150b,370.I would really like to try it with an AMPEG V4(Tube) or a V6(solid state) head.I am also interested in other vintage bass cabs but the shipping/freight charges are too brutal. So far the YCV-18 and my ACOUSTIC 220 along with my USA FENDER Jazz and Precision basses(both strung with flatwounds and de-tuned a whole step)give me the massive wall of bass chaos I so desire. The TRAYNOR YCV-18 beats the following cabs from my past arsenal:
AMPEG BSE 1x15 8ohm--not bad cab.
SWR Golliath Jr. 2x10 8ohm--way WAY too bright and clean, well constructed though.
(2)SUNN/FENDER 4x10s 8ohm each--pretty good,I don't like stacking two 8ohm cabs into something bigger than a refrigerator to get down to 4ohms.
PEAVEY Black Widow 1x15 8ohm--very good, almost as good as the TRAYNOR YCV-18.Better if it had been 4ohms.
