The T-60 is ideal for the styles I play. Being a frustrated rock bassist I find it very versitile, playing rock,Jazz, folk, etc.
1 channel with vol+4 eq. I always use the bassalator on. I use a Turser Beatle bass for rehearsin, a Rickenbacker 4001 and a Hofner 500/1 for concerts. I modified this amp by taking out the 12" 4 ohm and replacing it with an 8 ohm speaker and added a 1/4" plug in the back wired in parellel. I then run it on top of a 15" cabinet thus making McCartney's original t-60 cabinet (12 + 15 @ 60 watts). The sound is LOUD and BASS heavy, more than enough power to keep up with a 20 piece big band. (can't turn it up past 4 or 5 otherwise it's too loud).

Very versitile. As a combo for rehearsing or with the modifications as an original style t-60. Reproduces the ols Mac sound perfectly with the Hofner.

Used it almost exclusively the past 3 years without a hitch. Also own a t-25 for really quite rehearsals.

Own other antique Vox amps, and a very early Randall(also 60 watts)
Benn playing for over 30 yrs, one of the best amps I own. Both the t-25 and the t-6o have been used as guitar amps. Talk about versitile. Thinking about picing up another as a backup...will modify that one also. Chose this one for the "Vox sound" and it performs! Wish it came with the mods described above.

My example is a 1997 model bought second-hand. The speaker has been replaced with a Eminence model with a bit more power. Perfect for a lazy man, small, relatively light, enough features act/pass inputs;volume;bass;lo mid;hi mid;treble;bassilator switch;headphone jack;external speaker jack. There seems to be everything you need, although the Vox way of having the ext. speaker mute the combo??s internal speaker is not the optimal solution. The back panel has an fx loop which i have used occasionally as a line-out, it works. Can also be used to link this amp to another amp/cabinet combo. Features are very enough for me and anybody else who wants a decent workhorse for any size venue less than 500 people, and why not wembley as well, the certainly have fold-back equipped p.a. available. If you want a Vox and play bass, this is the only way to do it without having to mod cabs and having to carry the ac30/50/100 head around. Versatile enough for the weight-looks-price range.

I primarily use a Gibson EB-3, but also the EB-0 sometimes and Epiphone EB-3 as a reserve. Suits pop-rock, rock and roll and blues fine, easy setting up, bass on half, hi mid full, lo mid none, treble full and volume full and it??s perfect for rehearsal and any gig i??ve been to with it, ~30 of them. if you max every button it distorts a bit but. Got an interesting detail of sounding a bit like the solid-state vox horn-equipped beatle cabinets (or was it ac50?) of the sixties when used with an electric guitar (this has also got a horn), nice to play nowhere man with a casino with. Not super loud, loud enough for 60 watts. If you need more watts, you clearly want to buy another amplifier. (ac50/100 head + 4x12 cab fitted with eminence bass 100w??s is your only option) I basically only play with one type of bass and one type of amp, and i chose them for primarily other reasons than sound, what they sound like i have to live with, and i am, quite happily at the moment.

Well, it has never broken while i??ve owned it, but never trust a Vox for anything else than looking and sounding good, they can explode whenever. This is an easy one to fix though, speaker can be replaced by yourself and any amp tech can fix problems on the amp side, spare parts being readily available.

I doubt they want to have anything to do with amps that have left the showroom. Warranty was 1 year. Authorized dealers are all over the place, so are electricians who can also fix this if (when) a problem occurs.

I??ve played for twenty years, i??ve had lots of gear, now i have this. If this was stolen, i??d buy another one because it looks very, very good and sounds like an amplifier (don??t they all?). I only use Vox equipment and what they build I live with, for the moment this, and I enjoy it very much. I wish it had a hundred watts, a 15" speaker, half the weight, and was filled with 20 pound notes. Fantastic, but rare amp, if you can find one and need a funny, beautiful little bass amp, get it! Truly cheap and your girlfriend/boyfriend wont moan about this in the living room as it looks like high-quality furniture.

Not needing any special features, i think it's a great amp. Lo Mid and High Mid EQ controls are good enough, along with the bassilator, for me to shape the tone to where i want it. I use this amp in a small band with a loud rock drummer, and ithas plenty of power for that. I've brought it to one gig so far, and even the sound guy loved it (he miked it by the way), as did friends in the audience. Nice and light - easy to carry up and down stairs. I bought the leather cover (cool looking, too), as well and am glad of it - well worth the extra 25 bucks or whatever it cost to not worry about it bouncing around in the back of a truck.

Really nice clear warm tone. Definitely no distortion. For someone with limited funds, who has previously only played out of stuff like Peaveys, etc. or direct into multi-track recorders it's an amazing sound. If you're used to more expensive stuff, then i don't know how it would compare.

if it were stolen i would be sad and buy another one when i saved up another $300. mainly because what i need is a small, portable bass amp with capability to sound good amplifying other instruments (violin, guitar, etc.) as well - versatility. thought about ampeg and fender, but they're more expensive and more just for bass - a bassist's bass amp if you know what i mean.

Bought it a week ago, still awed by the cheap price - as the shop said it will be discontinued soon. Just one channel but it does what it has been made for : no nonsense, just the sweet music. Bassilator switch for thumping out the drummer if he has not been tamed yet . Effects loop at the back but I hate effects. I wish there were corner protections because the tolex seems on the thin side. I like the limited number of pots (1 vol + 4 equ.). Nobody really knows what to do with more if they don't own a scientific mind plus hich tech equipment such as analyzers, etc . No cover provided (useful though between the car park and the stage)

I play blues, jazz and pop/rock. Slapping being not up my street, (rather musical wank if you ask me) I think a good bass sound subtly pushes the listener into the groove and the other players into playing better. That is why I chose this amp : paper cone loudspeaker for depth with a tweeter for harmonics.
Quite quiet if you ask me. Its cubic shape it lets you sit on it and with a humbucker pickup , but no hiss problemo even at this close. With a foam pad near the bridge, I managed to imitate a doublebass sound which I enjoy a lot. My bass is made of walnut of the French Alps with one German-made Schaller Bassbucker with parallel/split/series switch. On the whole this amp is not extremely versatile, but you can talk through it as it is a real musical instrument, not just a noisy whakkananamit. Like good French wine : sit down and enjoy !

Just came home with it. It's brand new, although it was a floor demo. The other 2 reviews state all the features. Wish the internal speaker didn't cut out with an extension speaker.

I'm using a Steinberger with active electronics. VERY wide range of tones. I was surpised how loud it could go without distorting. If you like bass distortion, you won't get it from this amp.

Design is awesome vintage. Horizontal lettering on an indescribably beautiful fabric front. It's a beautiful brown/purple argyle. Unforgettable to those who see it! Bassilator switch adds a lot while keeping tone clean. Active and Passive inputs. 4 way eq plus bassilator. No additional effects, so I can't justify a 10 rating. Great "straight up" tone control, though.

I play with an Ibanez EDA 700, and this amp works great with it. Mostly rock/blues. I haven't gigged with it yet, but it cuts through rehearsal noise very well. (we practice in a cramped, noisy area). Occasionally have some buzz at certain pitches, but it isn't an issue that ever comes through on recordings.

This is the new Vox T-60 (60 watt) bass combo amp, not the 1960's amp of the same name. It's basically a 19" cube, about 40 lbs. For its size and price, I'd say it has pretty good sound shaping controls. It's one channel, two imputs (for active and passive instruments), volume, treble, high-mid, low-mid, and bass controls, as well as the "Bassilator" switch (see below), headphone jack, and external (4 Ohm) extension speaker jack. It doesn't have a CD input jack as some amps do for practice. Also, when using an external speaker, the internal 12" woofer and tweeter are disconnected, so an external speaker wouldn't really be an "extension" speaker, you can't split the sound.

I used it playing bass for a garden party last weekend, with a 5 piece band (inc. drums), playing 60's and 70's rock, and it sounded great. As a 60 watt amp, I was a little concerned about the volume I would need, but I had it on 4, and it cut through nicely, although we were playing pretty conservatively. As far as the Bassilator switch goes, seems to operate like the "loudness" switch on my stereo: it boosts the low frequencies, but works best a low volumes. At higher levels, it adds boominess. Also, the success of the Bassilator may depend on the instrument: It sounds good with my Hofner, but not with my Precision bass.
