Made in 2008. This is a new unit that I didn't end up buying because of it's quality issues. The graphic is nice as is the DI out & the off switch for the horn.

Sound Quality : 5
I use a passive Maton JB4 fretless & play roc, jass, blues & commercial covers. I've been playing for 28 years. I considered this amp as a replacement for the 4 faulty Sweet 15.3 amps that I returned. Ultimately, this amp is not a brilliant unit. Whilst it wasn't faulty like the 15.3's were, it's sound quality is quite bad over half way. It farts, distorts & carried on like the amp is twice as powerful as the speaker can handle. The various rattles from the cabinet are also annoying.

Basically, I'm REALLY glad that I didn't fork out $250 extra over the Sweet 15.3 for this amp as it just isn't worth it. The Ampeg (my first) BA115 was a far better choice for sound quality. After 28 years of playing (mostly professionally), I wouldn't recommend this amp, nor would I replace it if I owned it & it were stolen.

This is a new combo amp introduced July 06. I have recently bought a new one May 07. I'm playing 60's, 70's, 80's & current pop with a few rock tunes as well. Red Hot Chiilis, Jam, Weller, Kaiser Chiefs etc. It has a single input, effects loop, DI out, bright button and a deep button (just like my Fender Bassman). It has an excellent compressor and a contour control that is simple beyond bgelief but very effective. 4 band eq that allows you to emulate your fave sound. I can tune it in within seconds to creat any sound I want. I got this amp as a back-up for my 1970's Fender Bassman 135 head and matching 2x15 cab. I have not used the Bassman since I got this delivered! It is fantastic! The Sweet 25.1 has 1 x 15, 1 x 8 plus an active horn and is rated as 250w. As I'm used to the Fender sound and the 2 x 15 I wanted something close and this baby hits the spot. As a direct comparison, it sounds better than the Bassman and where as I would have the Bassman volume set at 3, in the same venue I have the Sweet 25.1 set at 4.1 so there is plenty in reserve. It is solid state and as an all-tube user previously, there is no going back. This is top.

Sound Quality : 10
I am using this with a fender Jazz Bass 62 re-issue (Japanese)with US pick ups. There is no distortion and sounds good running through the PA via the DI out also. The amp is very versatile as you can create almost any sound you want. As well as the EQ, you can turn the horn on or off and by combining the use of the the deep button or the bright button you can emulate most sounds. Our guitarist has tried his Strat and Tele through it an says he could easily use it for guitar, especially as the clean is very clean. This sound good at home (also had headphone out) but has balls beyond belief on stage. If you needed extra projection and didn't want to use the DI out, there is a leg on the back to ange the cab at 45 degees.

Reliability : 10
Ive only had it for a few weeks, but this is well made. Ive had it in bits to see. The metalwork is well finished, good quality controls and good plywood cab.

There is a service centre in most cities. I'm in the UK and spoke to several dealers across Europe (trying to get the best deal). They were all knowledgeable and gave similar advice. I eventually bought from Thomman. Excellent service.

Ive been playing for a quite a few years. I have just replaced (but will keep) my Silverface Fender Bassman 135 and 2 x 15 cab. I also have an old 70's Jazz bass. I would get another one of these as I specifically tested everything on the market. next closest value for money was the Hartke 3500 combo. This wins on price, sound, weight and size. This also looks good and isn't trying to make a statement. Although you can carry it on your own, if it had in-built wheels it would scre a ten. Maybe this could be incorporated on the next model. I would highly recommend this amp.
