I don't know what year this amp is, I bought it used in 2001.
One volume, Bass, Low Mid, High Mid and Treble controls. Limiter and Contour switches. One Input. Effects loop, headphone jack and speaker extension.
I use this amp for everything; practice and gigging, I've never had to turn it up above 3.
Solid State, single 15" speaker
Good basic amp; wouldn't mind a compression option.

Sound Quality : 8
I primarily use a Yamaha BBN5 (2 passive Jpickups) through this and a home-built Profile/Yamaha fretless (P-pickup), mostly playing rock, but several other styles as well.
I haven't noticed any distortion at high volumes, but I haven;t really played it above 3, I've just tested it at higher. Lots of volume here.
It took me a while to find a tone that I really liked with this amp, but once I found the right settings, I loved it.
At low volume (really low volume), the speaker has a bit of fuzz to it, but it disappears as teh volume increases.

Reliability : 10
Very solid amp. The only problem with it is a sketchy input jack, but a bungee cord to apply pressure to the unput negates this. It's been this way since I bought it.
I often gig with this without a backup and it has yet to let me down.

I love this amp, now that I've found good settings. I'd definately buy one again if I lost it; unless I went to a vintage Ampeg. there's lots of volume/headroom and you can get a variety of sounds from it. there's a lack of effects, but built in effects usually blow anyway.

Probably several years old as it has been replaced by the BassMaster Series " Fuzzy Blue Carpeted" Series, and now by the " XM " Series BassMasters. I basically just used this Amp as a stand-in for a Trace Elliot Rig that was having the Head repaired. This is at a local Church Gig. It could use a Tweeter, otherwise it's your basic Yorkville...good solid sound at a low price. I own a BassMaster 200T 200 Watts 2x10" Speakers and a Tweeter. It's small, powerful, and very punchy, and it gets the job done. This 200B has ample power for the Church. It is Lined-Out via a Passive DI for greater room presence.

Sound Quality : 8
Very quiet Amplifier. Once again, used in a Church, so the " Envelope " was hardly pushed out. For the Christian Music it seems fine, covers the bases.
I used it with my Backup Bass, a Peavey Milestone IV.

Reliability : 10
Don't know the history of this Amp, but it appears to need some Pots cleaned. Otherwise, Yorkville are probably the toughest Amps in the business, period. I have, and would use Yorkville Bass Amps on Gigs without backup.

Customer Support : 10
Too good to mention here.

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing Bass 34 Years. I own a 1971 Vintage Hagstrom H II B N CherryBurst Bass, a 2001 Peavey Milestone IV Bass, a 1977 HOB 6-String Acoustic Guitar, a Yorkville BassMaster 200T 200 Watt 2x10" Bass Combo Amp, a Fender BXR25 25 Watt Bass Practice Amp, and a Rloos Mini-Mix 51 System.
This older Yorkville 200B looks larger and a bit clunkier than newer Models however Yorkville's newer Amps are reflecting progress.

I bought this amp in 1999. it has limited features for an amp of its size, but that's no huge problem, this one packs a punch. It has a limiter on the preamp, a 'contour' switch (gives it more umph) a 4 band eq, blah blah blah .. you know the drill. put a small fx box with it and you have a dynamo combination. i do hate the carrying handle on it though. its a beech to lug around .. and akward.

Sound Quality : 8
distorts only when cranked, but then flip on the limiter, and even at 10 it rumbles beautifully and cleanly. Add the optional second speaker cabinet for some cool room-pumping loudness. It plays extremely well on the low end, and does fairly well on the high freq's. the new amps have a tweeter, so they handle slaps and overall tone better.

Reliability : 10
this thing is a rock. it comes with a two year 'even if you break it' warranty, and that can be very handly for us klutz's. i did have to replace the contour switch after about 6 months, it would sometimes cut out on me. but they took care of that in speedy time. other than that, this puppy is about as reliable as a john deere tractor. i'd put stakes on that we'd all die before this amp goes.

Customer Support : 10
great. only dealt with the jokers once, and they were nice and fast

Overall Rating : 9
i think just for the sake of variety, if i had to buy a new amp, i'd go different, but this thing is great. solid as a rock, sounds like amps twice its size, takes everything you throw into it and still begs for more. the only downsides that i know of from using it (and i've used mine hundreds of hours over the past 3 years) are the crappy carrying handle, and the lack of fancy features on the amp. other than that .. 9 out of 10

This amp is a Bassmaster 200, bought in January 2001 (probably made in 2000). It is a basic 200 watt 15" combo with a considerable lack of features. In fact, it does not have an active/passive switch, which I think is an easy addition that most bassplayers I know would certainly appreciate. It does have a four band "eq", a speaker out, line out, limiter, contour switch, and an effects loop.

Without effects, this amp is acceptable for basic bass tone on a four string. It could really use more tonal control to compensate for the lackluster tone within it. Another option would be a "gain" control... which isn't there.

The next step up in the bassmaster line, the 400, sounds better because of the more advanced eq.

Sound Quality : 5
I have used the following basses, without any effects, with this amp. I feel they are an excellent, all around test of it's sound capabilities.

Fender Precision Bass (USA) - I P style pickup (passive)
Fender Jazz Bass (USA) - 2 single coil J pickups (passive)
Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray - 1 MM humbucker (active)
Yamaha RBX765AII - 2 soapbars (active)

This amp had best results with the Precision, and I could really get a full, straight ahead tone with it.

The second best results were achieved with the Stingray, as long as it was kept at low volumes and both the amp and the bass were set reasonably flat. If you add too much volume or bass, you get a really loose and floppy sounding speaker.

The amp did very little justice to the Jazz Bass. It did nothing to show the tone and versitility that the Jazz is noted for. The Jazz lacked sustain and punch through this amp.

The amp performed very inadequately with the Yamaha 5 string. The amp is picky about eq settings from an active pickup system to begin with, but the low B string really sounded horrible, regardless of what sort of tweaking was done. This is a more budget minded bass compared to the others, but more acceptable tone was achieved with this bass on other amps. This leads me to believe that this amp is simply not very accepting of the lower frequencies put out by a five string, especially an active one. To its credit, there are other more expensive combos out there that sound poor with five strings as well.

On the plus side, it can compete with most drummers I've played with!

Reliability : 10

You'd be fairly safe using this without a backup. I've had no problems with it for the year I've used it. It gets regular use as a high volume practice amp. The construction seems very solid. It hasn't been put through a trauma like some amps, but it handles daily use and abuse well.

Customer Support : 9
I've never dealt with the company, but anyone who would dare put out a "2 year no questions asked even if it's your fault warranty" on a bass amp deserves a good rating.

Overall Rating : 6
I really think this amp would excel as a budget high powered amp, but I couldn't imagine using it for a gig if I didn't have to. It would make a reliable backup, that's for sure.
I paid more than most for this amp, and it would be worth that amount (but no more).

I've been playing for several years now and I've owned some very nice gear in that time. Up until recently, I've only had the need for medium powered combos, and I've really come to like the Fender Bassman series. My Bassman 100 (although more expensive and lower powered) has great tone compared to this amp and much better and effective features (tweakable XLR line out, active/passive switch, compresser, tuner out, a gain control).

I like the Yorkville for it's "bang for the buck" approach, but it certainly doesn't have the tone or versitility with different types of basses that I require. If I had to do it again, I would've held out for another paycheck or two and bought a Bassman 200 or shopped around for 100-200 watt amps in that price range.

same as above. not too fancy, I know what all the buttons do.
A better handle would be nice. Its a bitch to carry

Sound Quality : 10
I use a charvel jackson 5 string with active pickups (nut sure the model) and a riverhead to play everything. punk, ska, surf, metal, hardcore......... And even with the few buttons I can make it sound any way I want.
for guitar I play a crappy epiphone strat style copy through a metal zone metal zone pedal and it sounds awesome. deep mean and full sound. Do they have guitar amps?

Reliability : 10
Never had a problem and I toured with this. I have played shows with no pa, competing with full stacks. Sat in a garage for 2 canadian winters well below freezing.

Never even thought about it.

I had one of these about 6 years ago? 6 or 7. maybe 5. I dont know, but I sold it and bought an ampeg svt3 pro with 8x10 cab. I was very disapointed with it. A few months later I sold the ampeg and bought another one of these. I dont play shows with it too often but it kicks ass. Good size, wicked sound and excellent value. I recomend them to everyone.

Pretty basic features, but that's the way I like it. I'm usually not very partial to most amp effects and extra trinkets. I buy an amp for tone and buy the extras seperately. And for the money and warranty, I doubt that you can beat this amp. Plus, it's made in Canada.

Sound Quality : 10
OK. I mainly play two basses through this. A Yamaha RBX 260, modified with two beefy humbuckers, EMG electronics, and a Leo Quan BadAss II bridge, and a Yamaha TRB6II. I also run through a preamp rack consisting of an ADA MP2 tube guitar preamp, a DBX 266 compressor, and an Aphex C2 Big Bottom Exciter. Crazy tone. I play with the Contour and Limter switches both on and all of the EQ knobs cranked, except for the treble. I never have to go past 2 on the volume. This amp gigs very well for small to medium shows. Besides if the place is too big, I just line out of the 4x12 cab emulated recording outputs of my MP2 to the PA. Plus, it can handle a drop tuned low A al the way up to a high C fairly consistantly.

Reliability : 10
I've never had anything even remotely close to a problem with this amp. I can't even imagine it. Build like a tank. Very gigable, without worry.

Customer Support : 8
I'm guessing pretty good. Never dealt with them. Actually with the durability of this amp, I almost doubt that Yorkville even HAS a customer support center. Why would they need it?

Overall Rating : 10
Well worth the money. Good sound for many styles of music. A little bit of preamping or compression really helps, but that really goes for most amps anyways. I'm planning on upgrading to a Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ pretty quick, but I'll always keep this amp. I'm really fond of it. Some of the best money I ever spent.

Yeah, so, I bought theis amp at a used guitar shop, and damn. The dude who owned it played ONCE on it, and had to sell it. You all know the features from reading the other reviews, so let me just tell you that it ain't the trickest (Crate BFX160), but for the money, it sure is one of the coolest...

Sound Quality : 8
I'm using an Ibanez GSR200 (for now), and this beast rocks. I first toyed with it using a Jackson Concert CX, and loved it. I play metal, some punk, and am moving into Jazz a bit. It rules for punchy metal sounds, and you DON'T need that much volume to make your lead guitarist pay for calling you names, if you know what I mean.
The amp, again, without many features, is limited to what it can do. However, toss in three BOSS pedals, a Bawl Buster Wah, and a Zoom 504...well...you get the picture, right?

Reliability : 10
Let's put it this way:
If the Iraqi military armored there tanks the way Yorkville armored this amp, Kuwait would be there bitch.

Customer Support : 9
Have yet to deal with the company, but I think if I used the amp for target practice...

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for a few years now, and I dig it. I have a Crate BFX160, and I actually like this WAY more. I would try to find another one if this got jacked, and considering the neighborhood I live in...
I wish it had a more extensive EQ, but hey, this thing is really great. You CANNOT get a better starter amp for the money.

If you're looking for fancy effects, you don't have anything. If you're looking for a great-sounding amp that you'll never need to get rid of, you've got this one. It's got range, it's got the option of adding more speakers, it's got power. It's also got a couple of rather useless buttons, too!

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using a Danelectro bass with lipstick pickups and a semi-hollow body. It's really twangy, so the tweeter and full range eq are great. I've never had a need to turn the volume past 2... I think it may be a problem with mine in particular... I have no idea what it would sound like at 10... I'm afraid I'll kill get evicted. LOTS OF BASS! It's great for guitars, too. My friend got rid of his Peavey Bandit and bought one of these. It's SO much better...

Reliability : 10
No problems, and it's got a 10 year warranty that's valid even after you intentionally throw it off a cliff. Here in Canada, Yorkville/Traynor dealers are everywhere if you need to repair it for some reason.

same features as everyone else has said, volume, bass, mid, hi mid, and treble. A contour and limiter (which i dont really see doing anything) are also some of this amps features. otehr than that its pretty straight forward. u shouldnt need a whole lot for bass, its not like its supposed to sound all complicated anyway.

Sound Quality : 9
im using a 4 string custom charvel (i made another review when i was first starting out and now im making another to say what ive conclude after about a year of using it). basically i leave the amp pretty flat with the hi mid down just a little bit and then i turn the treble all the way down because my bass is pretty bright. i really dont like how the contour makes it sound, it gets rid of a lot of ur sound and just makes it way too boomy. it just sucks, i dont like it. but with it off it sounds just fine. It sounds pretty warm and natural with the bass im using. it wont go REALLY loud because i think my pickups are pretty low-output so i should look into replacing them sometime. I play a lot of STP and this amp is good for my playing style, i use DR 100s which im pretty happy with. this amp works fine for me until i wanna start gigging or something which this would probably work fine in small places BUT idont think it has the power to play a big gig, well not LOUD like i like it anyway. if i start giggin ill have to save up for a 4X10 and amp but until then this is just fine. im happy with it. but the hi mid knob IS a little funky, if u turn it up past 12:00 it'll sound pretty messed up, its just a bad frequency that the knob controls. i think my bass is what needs better sound, not the amp, but my bass is fine, i just have nothing to compare it to. also this amp can get a lot of sounds from the natural sound i like to a really bassy boomy sound which other people might like, or be better for what you're playing. It doesnt really distort but my bass does a little if i play it hard enough and have the volume knob on the bass up, but its not really a GOOD distortion. but thats not the amps fault.

Reliability : 10
i dont think bass amps are very unreliable. I mean its a big box with a 15 in it and a big heavy grille. i can roll it down a hill and it wouldnt do anything, plus it has like a lifetime warranty so hell i could blow it up just for fun! and i mean with explosives, not with sound! but that wouldnt be worth it. Its never cut out on me or shut off while im playing or anything and i play pretty loudly in my room with my stereo so i dont have any complaints in this category.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to deal with them but with their lifetime warranty and stuff u'd think that they'd have good customer service.

Overall Rating : 9
overall im happy with it, i paid for half of it and my dad paid for the other half and i dont regret buying it. if it was stolen or something i would probably buy another one cuz for the price u basically cant get anything like this, its a good buy. Like an ampeg 200 watt 15" combo costs like 500 bucks, thats just not worth it!
i like the natural warm sound this thing gets and how it hasnt let me down yet, it does what it should and it was for a good price. I'd recommend it for anyone who needs a good affordable combo. im not gonn give it a 10 though cuz im sure there's way better out there once u get into the big bucks. but i really cant complain about it.
