year, a great combo.
The sound can easily be modified for reggae, metal or jazz!!!
There is enough setting (bass, mid, high mid, treble)
The buttons are very sensible, so you must turn it slowly to hade your sound.
I use it in a cave, if I push the volume upper than 4, we can?t heard the drum (you can go to 10)
And he was beautiful with his blue style.

I would like to state I don't own this amp, It is my school's amp, I have been using it for the last 2 years. This is one of the older black carpeted modols, the ones before the blue carpet yorkvilles. I'm not sure how old it is, but i'm sure it's not older than 1996. It has limited controls, bass mid treble u get the idea. it has one 15inch speaker. I'm pretty sure it is all solide state. It puts out about 150 watts, 200 with extention. I use it on it's own. Overall a basic amp.

With it i use the schools Samick bass, their other Bass (No idea what make or anything about it, it is a hunk of crap), or my own modified but still passive Fender Jazz. The sound is average, what you'd expect from a lower price amp, because of the one 15 inch speaker, it is quite boomy. But you have to learn to live with the sound because the controls don't do much. I find the big problem with this amp is it colors the sound of the Bass too much. The character of my Jazz bass doesn't come out when i use this amp.

This is were this thing shines. Because it's a school amp, it gets treated pretty bad, it gets slamed against stuff as it gets moved around, people step on it's cord, etc, you know how teenagers can be (however i treat it with respect, as i do with my own gear). However, it's proved quite reliable. More than once though, it's shut down on me in the middle of a gig (we brought a backup). This is partly to blame for the way it was set up on these occasions. But we do 30+ gigs during the year, so shutting down once or twice is not too bad.

I have been playing for three years, and I'm pretty good. I take music seriously, and my backline is a G-K 400RB-3 and G-K RBS series 2-10, which is obviously better than the the yorkville. However, for the money, I think yorkvilles are good and reliable. I think if you were on the market for a nice, basic amp, yorkville is a good way to go.

To be noted: This Amp is actually only Rated 150 Watts RMS @ 4 Ohms ( as a Stand-Alone Combo), 180 Watts RMS c/w an 8 Ohm Extension Speaker Cabinet, 184 Watts RMS c/w a 4 Ohm Extension Speaker Cabinet. However, not to worry, it grinds out some serious power ! I have had it cranked right up on the richter scale with the Contour Boost engaged and EQ'd way up there, and as long as the Limiter was engaged, Distortion was non-existent.

Follow-Up to my earlier review. Amp purchased February 2000, probably built late 1999. This Amp covers most of my needs although it seems I rarely need to use it. This is because as a Recreational Player there always seems to be a Bass Amp supplied at the Jams and Open Stages and Churches I play at,(kinda nice, nothing to lug around!)The Yorkville BM200T is very portable, weighing in at 57 Lbs. Not bad for a 200Watt 2x10" Combo. When I do use the Amp, it covers my needs okay.
I just had it out at a Jam and held my own with a Fender Twin, Fender " Red Knob The Twin ", and a solid Drummer. I had the Volume set at 4.5, Bass, Mid, High-Mid, Treble, set at 6 ( right of "0"), and with both the Distortion Limiter and Contour Boost engaged. The result was pretty good clean & solid Bass sound. No distortion whatsoever even when I was hammering it. Even with my Hagstrom Vintage 1971 H II B N Bass ( which has quiet pickup outputs ), the Amp had "Oomph" with power to spare. I had tried a Boss LMB-3 Bass Limiter/Enhancer and found that although a nice unit, I could still do without it and get a good combination of Power, Sound, and Tone from the Yorkville by itself.
I had previously owned a Yorkville BC115 1x15" Bass Extension Speaker Cabinet but sold it as I never used it.

Using a Hagstrom Vintage 1971 H II B N Bass. No Effects. Suits most styles although I only use it rarely. Very quiet Amplifier. Was only "Hissy" when used with Boss LMB-3 Bass Limiter/Enhancer.
When Limiter is engaged, Distortion is all but eliminated.

Yorkville are virtually indestructable Amps...remember Traynor ?
Amp has never needed servicing, and probably won't for a long time.
I would use it without backup on a Gig in a minute.

Playing Bass 34 years, Acoustic Guitar since Early 70's. I own a Fender BXR25 25 Watt Bass Practice Amp, a Hagstrom Vintage 1971 H II B N Bass, a HOB 1977 6-String Acoustic Guitar, a Rolls Mini-Mix 51 System c/w Phono Pre-Amp.
I don't know what I'd replace it with right now, probably nothing as I really don't need a Bass Amp the majority of the time.
I love the simplicity of operation, portability, decent sound, amazing amount of Tone & Volume that can come out of such a Compact Amp for such a low price. Plus it's built in Canada, so it's got to be good !
I looked at other Amplifiers such as SWR, G-K, Ampeg, Fender, Ashdown, Etc., but they were all so damn expensive and overkill for my needs.
I chose Yorkville because of " Bang for My Buck ", and the fact it suited my needs for a low price.
The new "XM" Series have XLR Out, which this BassMaster lacks. Also, they have Pre/Post EQ DI Switches which are also lacking in my BassMaster.
These Series of BassMasters are now being replaced by a " New & Improved " XM Series.

Traded a BassMaster 200 1x15 200Watt Combo for this BassMaster 200T 2x10 200 Watt Combo plus about $100.00 CDN. I did this transaction February 2000. Amp probably made in late 1999. I am more interested in good quality Basses than exotic amplification costing thousands. I like simple hard-working Amplifiers that deliver the goods at a reasonable cost. Amps that don't have to be screwed around with to get the job done.I don't play Professionally- I used to play Semi-Professionally years ago-so this Amp takes care of my needs just nicely. I now play recreationally with the odd paid Gig ...emphasis on " Odd" ! I play everything from Country to Blues, whatever comes up, including Contemporary Gospel. One channel, effects loop, balanced line-out, external speaker connection, headphone jack and that's all she wrote! It has a Switchable Limiter that eliminates clip at high level, a Switchable Contour that really enhances tone. I wish it had an XLR Line/DI out that was switchable. I don't like graphic EQ's ( this amp doesn't have one), Just Volume, Bass, Mid, High Mid, and treble. I use this amp at small open stages or jam sessions, and it has ample power. For a larger Venue I run my Yorkville BC115 1x15 Bass Extension Cabinet. I don't have to do that often as I hardly Gig and I'm not a Head Banger! For it's size, this Amp actually kicks ass pretty good, and has good clean punchy tone.

I use a Hofner 1963 Vintage Reissue Beatle Bass, a Peavey Milestone IV Bass, and I am soon to have a 1969 Hagstrom H II B N Bass. I always leave the Limiter and Contour on , other controls set at " Noon ". I've never had to go above 3.5 to 4 on the volume setting, or other people tell me to turn down-especially when the 15" extension cabinet is employed...she really thunders! This is a clean, quiet Amp. The limiter does a good job when engaged.

I also own a 1977 HOB Acoustic Guitar. As mentioned earlier, I own a Yorkville BC115 1x15" Bass Extension Speaker Cabinet. I don't know what I would buy as a replacement. I don't particularily like the " Fuzzy Blue " carpet covering. I love the size. I loved the PRICE compared to what's out there vs the sound you get ( which is quite good )

This is an update to my previous submission (the oldest one in this list). I just read the really bad rating from the submission before this one. Wow, as the 2nd reviewer from france said, Yorkville isn't trying to be the best, but I've never felt ripped off. For the money I think your getting a pretty good "gigable" amp. Not the best, but not crap either.
Anyway, I just wanted to add that I have ditched the Peavy bass I was playing before, and switched to a MIM Fender Jazz (another nice bargain, see review). At first I was having some EQ problems, the Hi-Mid seemed like too much, the bass was a little muddy, etc.. I have recently put in Dimarzio Ultra Jazz P/U's in the Jazz though and now everything seems to be working right. Adjusting the Hi-mid give a much better sound than before etc, etc. I also noticed that changing the tones and P/U volumes on the bass itself results in a variety of good sounds as well.
I read another review somewhere else one time (I think it was SWR Workingman 12 or something) and one guy said something about being better off spending you money on a good sounding bass first. I think he may have a point there. It seems to me that the Amps job is to provide ample clean uncolored power. I wouldn't think that would be as hard as producing a nice bell like toned tube guitar amp.

i bought this amp brand new from a local shop. i had heard great things about yorkville amps, but boy was i wrong. even the ones i read on here... i don't understand why. the EQ is incredibly hard to understand, because either you get too much highs or too much lows. the highs are so bright they will literily tear your ear drum in half. and the lows are so muddy you cannot even hear the pitch of a note.
using the mids is hard to balance as well.

i'm using a Ibanez SR305 5 String. great sounding bass, through a garbage sounding amp. i've had problems with the bass, but they've been fixed. the high pitched hiss bothers me so much from this amp. i've heard amps that have hissed bad, but this one tops them all.

this amp is alright for reliability, when it comes to it being able to play through. but don't be relying on that it will give you a great sound. thats for sure.

this amp has been running through a zoom 506 (yes, i know that product is garbage as well) for effects, it does help the effects life last longer rather than die off like they usually do when going through earphones.
overall, i can say, if your a beginner who likes korn or some shitty band, and really want to push out some volume, not sound - buy this. if your looking for something decent, don't buy this. because you will understand what i mean when you purchase it. you'll feel ripped off.

I bought this amp brand new 1 week ago. Was made in 2001. It's a very simple amp.
A very effective limiter switch to prevent power amp from distortion (I always keep it on because the distorted sound doesn't bring no tube feeling, just a nasty fuzzy sound).
A contour switch, similar to Trace Elliot preshape, boosting high and low end and cutting mediums, to give that modern slappy sound everybody expect nowadays from a bass. Nice and sometimes useful.
Volume and 4 -probably passive- band EQ (Bass, Low mid, Hi mid and treble), that allow you to build many sounds, but not as good as GK or AMPEG. It still allow you to find almost everything you want.
Balanced line out, effect loop, a cool phones plug and that's it.
All you find behind is an external speaker jack (4 ohm minimum).
It REALLY misses a XLR output and a pre/post amp switch.
Other features are OK to me. Simple and efficient, enough for almost everybody.
Main problem with Yorkville amps has always been lack of vulume. Their previous model (200B i think) suffered a lot from that. You don't have it here, consideering that it's not a real 200 W amp (manual gives 150 W in 4 ohm, and 184 W in 2 ohm, with an external 4 ohm speaker added). They've really given a boost to their amps, the 2x10 + tweeter is VERY punchy and you get heard wherever you play, it really cuts thru the band.

I use custom neckthru passive basses (1 fretted w/ PJ bartolini pickups and 1 fretless w/ 2 DI MARZIO soapbars).
I mainly play jazz-rock and metal, an this amp works fine for both.
It's very clean, w/ weel balanced mediums that can really be adjusted to what you need, from ol' 70 dirty bass to clean jaco style or r'n'b big bottom sounds. Highs are crispy but not too agressive, just what I like. Now a hurting point : it lacks low ends at high volume. To me, this is mainly because the cabinet is REALLY small for 2x10 woofers. It's perfect for me because I needed an easy to move gig amp. With an additional 15' cabinet this amp will rock the earth if you need to -in bigger places for concerts and all. So you just carry your small unit and add the 2nd cabinet when you need big bottom bass.
Due to the single volume -no gain+master- you may have to lower input with a volume pedal or with the knob on your bass if you got a high gain instrument.

I only own it for a week, but this amp has everything to last years :
high quality components and soldering -I've opened it to check !-, eminence speakers like SWR, 30 mm thick plywood structure, very heavy for its size assuring insensibility to vibrations.
More, yorkville is a professional PA brand, seen on many stages, known for its reliability. I think you can expect the same from their bass amps.
Very clean carpet cover and a recessed top handle. Maybe additional side handles would have been appreciated.

Never dealt with them, but they have a 7 days replacement program in France : whatever happens to your amp, you get the same model back in less than a week.

Of course, it's not the same quality as my previous amp (ampeg svt3pro, that unfortunately got stolen), but hey ! I get the whole combo for half the price of an AMPEG.
Yorkville doesn't seem to try to make the best amps in the world, just nice sounding, practical, easy to carry, efficient amps and that's exactly what I was looking for. I'll consider buying a 15" additional cabinet pretty soon.
With dollar rate being so high, american amps are now incredibly expensive in France. It means that AMPEG, SWR, GENZ BENZ, GK and others are hard to buy. The canadian Yorkville is now to me the best quality / price rate in Europe.

200 watts solid state, brand new year 2000, two 10 inch speakers and a tweater. I play Blues, R&B, Rock, Country, whatever, and this amp suits all of those styles. This a bass amp and has only one channel, one line in, a limiter and countour switch, volume, bass, low mid, high mid, and treble, balanced line out, effects loop, headphone jack and extension speaker jack. The features are fairly basic, but in a bass amp, i'm not sure what else you would want other than an XLR line out.

I Peavy Fury II(not bad for the price-see my review), and I love the sound from this combination, I haven't even messed around with the EQ yet. I played with the EQ alot in the store and thought that it sounded a too midrangy. I thought that this was because of the two 10 inch speakers, but I think it was just the small room I was in. The store didn't have the single 15" model in stock, but assured me they would excange when they got them in, but no way this amp sound too awsome. It's suprisingly bassy for the two tiny speakers, and is also very punchy due to the same tiny speakers. I recently jumped the fence from guitar which I played for about 15 years (tired of not being able to find bass players and too many guitar players), and I grew up playing drums, so I love the percussivness of this amp, it really helps me direct the timing of our band. Also the contour switch is awsome, it instantly switches you to an awsome slap tone. I have experienced no distortion as yet probably due to the limiter and I am careful with the bass control.

As mentioned above I have been playing bass only a short time, but I have a good amount of related musical experience. I own some american Fenders including a custom shop Strat. I own a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Guitar amp, and some PA Gear etc. I love the sound I get from this amp, and it seems really durable, the handle on top is a little goofy, and makes it awkward to carry. But it is durable and sounds great and ahas a great warranty.
