I play in two different bands at the moment, one is power pop and the other is progressive metal. This amp handles both bands perfectly. The bm400h has more than enough power for my metal band delivering low end growl at high volumes without any distortion and the clarity i need for the other band. It is equipped with only the basics, volume gain grapique eq, limiter and contour. This makes it very easy to use and control. The passive and active jacks allow me to plug both basses in at the start of the show and not have to worry about switching chords in the middle of the set. The effects loops, front and back, save me a huge mess of chords as well. The only thing this extra I could use would be some compression.

This amp really truly pumps. I use a passive 1973 gibson ripper and an active yamaha rbx765a. I found with other amps both these basses sounded the same and my yamy was always much louder, active imput or not. The bm400h lets the true character of my basses shine without coloring the tone to much. With some tweeking on the amp and my basses I have found a common setting that has the volume and tone on both my basses exactly where i want them. At first I was getting some finger and fret noise but I simply slide the 2.5khz slider down on the eq and it was gone. I found only if I turn the gain up to 9 or 10 do I ever get unwanted distortion but I don't think i'll ever need that much gain. This amp keeps up with marshall stack and a peavey 5150 with the ability to cut through and fill in the bottom at the same time.

This amp is a very dependable, hard working amp. I had an older one of the same model before the on I have now that never did me wrong. It was dropped out of the back of a van, down stairs and I fell over it many times as well. It was used before I got it and I had it for four years before it started to show signs of maybe kickin the bucket. The point is that i was young and careless about my gear,It wasn't in a rack or case and it was old as dirt. It lasted four years with me. The one I have now is newer, in a case and well taken care of. I expect to play it for years to come with no problems.

I have been playng now for nine years and have tried many amps.I have played swr, trace elliot and fender and have never been able to get the same clear but low end tone out of anything else. Ilove that the tone of this amp does not change wether it is at .5 or 10. I have managed to find a common setting for both of my very different basses. I don't think I will ever have to touch anything but the volume knob and the power button ever again. I have had alot of problem with noise and distortion in the past, especially with trace elliot, because of my agressive style. I can't believe that it all went away because of one 2.5khz slider. The only thing I don't like is that I have to be very careful in choosing what cabs I use. I own a yorkville 1X 15 and I want a 4X10 as well. Alot of 4X10 cabs I have tried with this amp end up sounding really high end. This is a small price to pay for awsome sound though. I am on my second bm400h and I will track another one down if i have to.

this amp is pretty straight down the line as far as bass amps,
eq,contour gain ..vol etc. but its lack of gimmicks is its strength.
it has the essentials , all good, doesnt need any propping!

recomend this amp ,a nice alround sound and reliable, tried an swr 12inch combo before this, and own a fender bassman...but this is doing it at the moment! a built in compressor might be handy, for the slap thing...but thats a personal preference...all good

This is BM400H head is 400 continuous watts at 4 ohm 300 watts at 8 ohm. It is all solid state, has a 10 band eq, a limiter and a contour function. It has an effects loop and a 1/4" line out, and footswitch out (but no slr DI). It also comes with ears for rack mounting.

This amp cranks. It has a very clean tone and lots of headroom. It does not taint your sound with a packaged color but lets the sound of the bass flow through (maybe not so good if you have a crummy bass). The equalizer is sweet and allows you to really dial in the sound you are looking for. I like it way better than the newer sx400h which has an 12ax7 in the pre and seems to have really interfered with the tone. The 400 watts is continuous at 4 ohms which means it can burst up to over 700 watts in critical situations. You will NOT get a better sound or performance for your money!

I love this amp. I had been playing SWR and was just not cutting through the band (lost with no mids). This has given me more power and more volume and the ability to reproduce a number of tones (vs. my old SWR which always had the SWR sound). This series is discontinued and has unfortunately been replaced by the newer model (the one with the tube pre that sound like butt). My local bass store had 3 of these left and I was happy to scoop one up. I hope the company realizes the folly of their ways and starts to reproduce it.
