Bought this amp new sometime in 2000. Overall, a very nice amp for the money. It's only 50 watts, but it still packs a punch and is loud enough for small venues. Pretty basic without many features except for tone controls and the usual. Excellent size; very easy to transport and probably the best, loudest output I've heard from an amp of this size. Line out and headphone jacks.

Very little distortion. You can crank it all the way up to 10 and the output remains constant and clear, except at that level it starts being a little more than the 10" speaker can handle. You can get a good variety of sounds out of it by using the tone controls alone. I only used it with a bass but I imagine it would work just as well as a guitar or keyboard amp.

50 watt, 1x10 emmenince(?) speaker combo, blue carpet covering. Closed back, black metal speaker grill, I'm not sure what year this is, maybe late 80's? I think this is discontinued but it is a great amp. Suitable for home practice, low level jamming, any type of acoustic gig, blues/jazz/folk, etc. Really compact but puts out a terrific sound, the tone is fabulous. Line out, headphone jack, no extension speaker output (probably wouldnt push another cab anyway). Volume/bass/mid/treble contols. What else does a practice amp need?

I use a '65 P-Bass and I've put my Kay upright through it also using a Fishman pickup, the sound it really great, very tight, no rumbling or cracking. I play a lot of blues and it sounds great. Quiet, and i've evne used this witha full band and it kept up. Right now the speaker is going bad on th elower register, I need to get it re-coned but Im having a problem getting the speaker out of the box.

Well, the amp has never given me a problem, runs cool and quiet. Like I said, the speaker need re-coning, but I cant get it out of the box. When I un-screwed it, I found I could'nt pull it out of the box, it seems like the epoxy on the sound board has glued the speaker to the board. I'd appreciate any ideas on how to get it out other than taking a claw-hammer to it. I'm afraid that the sound board is going to crack if i try to pry it out.. I emailed the company and got no response, so my opinion of their customer service is not very good.

Right now, I'd say its pretty weak. I know this is discontinued, but they are making a newer model that has replaced this one. When companies post an email 'help' address on their web-site, but then refuse to answer it, I have to wonder about their customer service.

I've been playing bass since 1969, play guitar also. Beside my main axe (the '65 p-bass), and the Kay upright, i have a bunch of guitars: a mid-80' fender japanese strat, a mid-70's Tele, Harmony Rocket, 2 Silvertone Dan Electros, a jay Turser hollowbody, and a yamaha acoustic jumbo. For amps I use an Ampeg BR100 for bass, and I have an early 60's blonde bassman w/ 2x12 cab, a Peavey Classic 2x/12, a several Sears/no-name amps. i also use an old Acoustic Control 470 head for bass through a 1x15 Ev by Dietz Audio cabinet. If it were stolen, I'd try to find another. For a 1x10 amp, it rocks! Overall I thnk Yorkville makes some pretty good stuff, they are pretty loud for a combo amp.

Fairly straight ahead 50W combo. CD(or other) line in, single imput, master volume, active bass treble and mid, as well as a balanced line out and headphone jack. I've used it for simple recording, monitoring and all non drum practice/jamming. It does a solid job in all capacities I only wish the scoop option was offerd on the BM50 (or even the old contour option). I use a Yorkville BM400H for all other applications and they make a nice pair. I do wish Yorkville offered a tube (or tube pre-amp) in both power ranges!(have you heard the custom valve guitar amps?)

I play an American P-Bass, Sting '54 style and an Ibanez ATK. This amp handles all well. The active bass, mid and treble cand cause issues with high output active electronics like the ATK. As well it can sound a touch thin with the single coil but subtle control and position/style adjustments allow for a very solid array of sounds from all instruments listed above.

I have been playing for 10 years. I mentioned the basses as well as the BM400H. In the past I have owned a Crate 200BX Head with 1X15. I currently run the 400BM Head through a yorkville 2x10 and a Peavey BW 1x15. would likely replace it as the only similar watt combo I feel is definetly worth the price diference is an Ampeg Portaflex and I simply do not need/warrent that beauty.
I chose this over a Fender combo, Peavey Combo etc. It is more reasonably priced and sounds better to me!

I bought this amp new from a music store that had just bought out another one. I paid 165.00 US for it brand new. I had looked at it for several months but they wanted almost 300.00 at the other store. When they bought the inventory they had a big "raising cash" sale and I bought it the first week of the sale. Anyway, it has a main volume, bass, mid, and treble. Line out and headphones jack. Single input which is plenty. Its got a blue fabric covering and a rugged steel grill on it. Its 50 watts thru a 10 inch speaker.
I play mostly in jazz and big band settings...the jazz combos run 3 or 4 pieces and the big band runs about 18 pieces. I originally took this amp to practice with but found it had such great full tone and enough power that it has become my main amp.

I'm playing a passive 5 string Yamaha bass through this and it seems to handle it just fine. No buzz or distortion at all. Seems to be very quiet. I dont adjust my settings much but am very happy with the sound that I get from it.

I own a Peavey sessionbass head running thru a EV 15" cab and a 2x10" cab if I need more power. I havent used this setup with any gigs in almost two years. The BM50 has worked out great for the styles I play.
